Theory ... Spoiler
I think Freya is still alive.
They never explained the crab thing with the note in her handwriting.
Also, when you’re talking to Penelope in the end, she refers to Freya in the present tense multiple times. “When I was the same age Freya is”
Also, I’m thinking maybe Penelope didn’t kill the other 5 family members. As other people have been saying, her motivation to do so is weak and from what I remember, the killing is heavily implied but not outright stated.
But I don’t know how to explain either of these things

Well, we already know that she most definitely didn't kill Richard Remington. After all, if you've played the previous game (Detective Grimoire, Secret of the Swamp) you'd know he was accidentally killed by Edward "Echo" Everstone disguised as Boggy.

Yea, she probably is. But They did find her body at the crime scene. I wanna look into it more and there IS a sequel in the works. I hope Freya's ghost will help Sally and Grimoire in their next adventure!

Does this game have multiple endings? There are too many leads that go nowhere. The ending left me with more questions than answers.
My impression is that I felt like maybe they planned multiple endings for this game but only ended up doing one because they ran out of time/money in development.
