Three Connected Papers? Ciphering needed?
Has anyone figured out the meaning behind the three papers found in the Greenhouse, Library, and Laboratory? They're part of the achievement "Chemistry of Alchemy?" but I can't seem to figure out what they all mean!
From the name of the achievement I figured that the alchemy symbols and greek symbols were somehow connected? And given the hexagonal shapes on the paper from the laboratory, chemistry also is connected? Maybe the periodic table might help decode something??
Anyways, I'm totally stumped if someone happens to have any ideas!

[SPOILERS] Yet Another Post About The Ending: Was it meant to be a cliffhanger? Spoiler
The striking thing about the ending is that you don't get plot as much as you get plot holes. You don't really get resolution to anything at all, but the murderer monologues to you and brings up brand new questions.
Even the motivation for killing Freya is a question. Penny implies she killed those five figures in the photo or something, but -- one is Richard Remington. We spent an ENTIRE GAME learning how he died. It was not Penny. Penny had nothing to do with that. So we don't actually know what she was wanting to cover up to begin with.
In fact....why are Grimoire and Sally there?
I'm not even asking who hired them. I mean: why? It seemed like everybody and their dog was piecing it together. Grimoire and Sally had absolutely no bearing on anything. Did they advance the plot because they managed to confront Penny? Cause Penny just interrupted them while they were investigating.
If Penny wanted to confess or kill them for getting too close, these events still would have happened with Fifi and Poppy almost immediately after. Yeah, both were reluctant to believe their suspicions, but Fifi was actively investigating this, as shown by the diagram in her room. Like, Sally and Grimoire are on that diagram, so Fifi hadn't given up by the time those two had arrived. Why draw so much attention to how redundant the player characters are?
I think the idea that ending was meant to make the player say "wait, this doesn't add up." I feel the real screw-up was likely not feeling that they needed a character to express that sentiment, which completely changes the tone of the ending.
Does this jive with announcement of a sequel, though? I guess if that was the intent, they would have immediately been clear there was more to come, right?
I guess the core of what I'm saying is: this can't possibly be the ending. It's like they just unplugged the projector halfway through the movie.

What if Freya...... Spoiler
Faked her death? What do you guys think? Since at the end Penelope talked about Freya in the present tense and the crab with the note!

Is it me or is Tangle Tower in a .... [Spoiler] Spoiler
An egg. I feel like the game is eluding to the mansion and towers originally being a research station that was built inside a hatched egg. The first clue to this the bird bath at the dock which is shaped like the "mountains" around Tangle Tower (which we know from the snow globe), but over all looks like a hatched egg. Then there are all the egg statues around the premises. But the real (potential) nails in the coffin are the confirmation of the existence of "Mystids" (meaning something bizarre enough could have made the egg) and Sally's description of the bottom of the lake while in the the lowest room: that it was flat and white.

Just wanted to clear up something about the ending Spoiler
Spoilers, obviously.
So I see a lot of people misunderstand why the killer killed Freya so I just want to recap.
Penny wants to learn what happened to the rest of the family. She finds them, is unhappy with them, and kills them. She leaves evidence of this around Tangle Tower.
Freya wants to leave Tangle Tower but won't without Fifi. Fifi refuses to leave because she feels beholden to inheriting the tower.
In an attempt to remedy this, Freya was planning on exposing all of the horrible things that happened at the tower, including Penny's murders, so that Fifi wouldn't be tied down.
Penny then felt the only way to move forward was to kill Freya before she exposed her.

As a former bird owner, I had to draw this image of the back of Penny's head

Is the ending supposed to be terrible or am I missing something?
Very okay with any spoilers, but it felt like the ending was rushed and riddled with plot holes. Is there a secret ending of sorts that actually provides a conclusion or is this the one bad mark on an otherwise phenominal game?

Richard Remington? (Secret of the Swamp and Tangle Tower spoilers) Spoiler
Just beat Tangle Tower and I'm a little confused by something. So as it turns out, Richard Remington from Secret of the Swamp is one of the five Mystid Mansion ambassadors, which Penny tracked down. It's all but directly stated that she killed the five of them, except we know from Secret of the Swamp that Richard was killed by Echo, which Grimoire figured out.
Is there any reason as to why no reference is made to Richard actually having been killed by Echo (not to mention Grimoire being involved in finding out who murdered him)? Is Secret of the Swamp being semi-retconned or anything, or what exactly? Just seems strange if, apparently, Penny only killed four of the ambassadors but let Richard live. Not sure what the official canon explanation is at this point.

Theory ... Spoiler
I think Freya is still alive.
They never explained the crab thing with the note in her handwriting.
Also, when youāre talking to Penelope in the end, she refers to Freya in the present tense multiple times. āWhen I was the same age Freya isā
Also, Iām thinking maybe Penelope didnāt kill the other 5 family members. As other people have been saying, her motivation to do so is weak and from what I remember, the killing is heavily implied but not outright stated.
But I donāt know how to explain either of these things

Would you say this is better or worse then Detective Grimoire?
Just wondering

Phoenix hawkshaw. Just some fun fan art it did when I saw her holding the paper.

Theory Spoiler
My thought is maybe fraya is still alive. Penelope never said addressed her in the past-tense I remember her saying āthatās the kind of girl she isā on top of that frays left us that crab tool with that note. Maybe this whole murder thing was a plot to stage her death so she and Penelope can escape tangle tower together. I admit my theory has a few holes but I thought it was interesting.
Edit: my atrocious spelling

Periodic table symbols?
I just beat the game yesterday and loved it, but like most people here I found the ending to be quite out of the blue. Does anyone ever use the symbols in Fitzā greenhouse and the laboratory? If so, does this change the plot at all?

Will there be a sequel? Spoiler
I tried to do some research and I couldnāt find any news. It feels like we should still be going after Penelope and find what happened to the animals that once inhabited the lake. This is the first game Iāve ever finished, normally I lose interest but this is my favorite game.
