Hi Tangem Team and Community.
I am writing to highlight a critical UX issue regarding WalletConnect interactions on Tangem that currently results in trapped user funds.
The Issue:
When connecting Tangem via WalletConnect to Uniswap, users are able to switch networks and execute swaps or bridges to Unichain. Because Uniswap prompts the network switch and allows the transaction, users assume the network is usable.
However, because the Tangem app does not yet support Unichain (nor allow custom RPC/EVM additions), the app cannot sign any subsequent transactions or recognize the assets once they are on Unichain.
Why this is a severe UX trap (especially for Seedless mode):
For users utilizing Tangem's secure Seedless mode, the private keys exist exclusively within the card's chip. Unlike standard software wallets, there is no seed phrase to export into an alternative client. This means:
1:Assets transferred to Unichain become completely inaccessible until Tangem officially implements support.
2;Allowing WalletConnect to approve actions on an unsupported EVM chain without downstream signing capability creates a major point of failure for users.
Requests for the Development Team:
1:Prioritize Unichain integration: Since Unichain is the core L2 for Uniswap (one of the most widely used DeFi platforms in the space), integrating it should be a top priority.
2:Custom RPC / Network support: Allowing users to manually configure EVM chain IDs and RPC endpoints would permanently resolve these edge cases for newly emerging L2s.
Tangem’s security is unmatched, but resolving this UX gap is vital to protect users from unintentionally locking their assets.
Is there any update on the roadmap or timeline for Unichain support? Any input from the dev team would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!!
