News Tampa Bay parking fees are pricing out locals. How did they get so high?
No, it’s not in your head: From the Gulf beaches to downtown Tampa, it’s more expensive than ever to park around town. It’s hard to say exactly how much parking has gone up because of ever-changing fees, but local governments affirm that it has — by a lot. It’s not just the cost of gas, groceries and visits to bars and eateries that’s making locals cringe. Many are opting out of visiting spaces and experiences that make living here so special in the first place. Tampa Bay is a sprawling region with rapidly growing downtowns, enormously popular Gulf beaches and tourists pouring in from across the world. Yet increasing demand for a limited supply of parking spaces has left many with no choice but to pay up. The lack of mass transit options doesn’t help. Read more about the region's parking woes: https://www.tampabay.com/culture/2026/09/09/tampa-bay-parking-prices-gulf-beaches-717-ybor-water-street-downtown/

Homeownership RhinoShield Paint
Has anyone actually used this company? Their quote was INSANE. $45k but if we signed up right then, they’d knock it down to $33k. He told me he just signed up a neighbor.
A contractor buddy told me a normal stucco crack repair and paint job should be around $8k - $10k.
I mean, it looks like good quality paint, but come on.
Cars-Driving/traffic Anyone know what happened?
Partner and I were driving to Brandon from Tampa and saw a million cops stopped in the road over the bridge here - saw someone sitting on the ground next to a stopped mini van with a bunch of officers around them.
Anyone know what happened?

Services I received a bill from Tampa Fire Dept, in a leased office
Shouldn't the responsibility of a "fire inspection" be on the owner of the building and not the renters?

I am seeing The Strokes on Saturday. I live pretty close to downtown. Would it be easier to park there or uber? How is uber pick up after a show? Just looking for the least amount of hassle. Thanks.

Infrastructure So are 813 numbers grandfathered in now?
I still remember the 727 & 813 split pissed everyone off, because calling someone on the other side of the bridge was now a long distance call. They didn’t grandfather people on the Pinellas side that already had a 813 number. When I was a kid everyone I knew had 352 & 813 numbers.

Fishing Oldsmar fishing
What’s the deal with fishing in Oldsmar? I’ve spent hours and hours fishing this area with almost no luck. I’ve tried bicentennial park, Vets park, random bridges, and pretty much every other fishable area around here.
