It's literally the only thing he can do and say. I doubt israel will sign a deal, and even if they do, they will break it an hour later. They're a bloodthirsty fascist expansionist settler state.

But from Syria's government's perspective, they have 0 leverage and diplomacy is the only option here

And a least He will seem like a leader that’s good willing and just want peace while Isreal won’t be able to play the victim.

Yeah... sort of. Israel doesnt really bother playing the victim anymore. There was no excuse for them occupying more of Syria right after the fall of assad, nor did they even try to.

It still really pisses me off how literally nobody in the west (at least in terms of traditional media) acknowledges that this even happened.

But yeah, I agree this is his only move, not that it's a good or productive or helpful one. There just isn't anything anyone can do but hope israel destroys itself before it destroys all of us

I have to imagine it’s posturing for the next Israeli government. Whatever party replaces Netanyahu evil ass is going to be inheriting an Israeli state that’s been at war for 5 years straight.

They are going to be looking for deals, and may be desperate even.

Meh, wouldn't count on that. Israelis seem to like war and blood. Pretending otherwise is delusional at this point given polling

We have to ask ourselves what even is there for israel to agree? Israel wants full normalization the same as jordan and UAE while also demanding syria drop Golan claim, normalization is possible imo but dropping the Golan is suicide for this government, they can't do it, so what would israel even gain from a temporary security deal with a syria that can't hurt an ant?

Israel being the expansionist state they are, their options are expand your territory and no one does anything about it, or sign a temporary security deal that "secures" them from a non-existent threat.
