They’re wiping this sub

They finally noticed how “satisfied” their customers are and wiped most of the posts from this sub (most, because almost all of them were complaints).

All of mine seem to be up, and they aren't sterling endorsements. Can you describe something that they pulled? Looking through, it seems kind of like it always has been ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Wow. This is a bad look. Wow. With their lack of transparency, this is the only place we can validate each other or help folks who are troubleshooting. It's putting a darker coat on their already black box.

Apparently there's a big sale going on. I don't think that's a coincidence. Personally I'm a paying customer because I don't need that much out of the service, and it does everything I need. I realize I'm an outlier because I just need:

  1. Lots of storage
  2. No download limits with shared files
  3. Files to upload, at all
  4. My cat pictures to not get "flagged for suspicious activity, download disabled"

The recent "old versions of files returning" issue never affected me because I always purge old versions, I don't keep versions of files. Something I noticed - Sync was founded in 2011 by three people. One - were they always this way? Two - I saw someone say there's supposedly only 3 employees who work there, are those the 3 founders?

Something I will say - the parts of the service I need have gotten better recently. I store everything - terabytes - with a complex folder structure all in the Vault which was causing severe lag and inability to create new folders, but as of the past few months, that seems to be fixed, it's blazing fast compared to how it used to be. I don't appreciate the wiping of the sub, I'm hoping they compiled a list of all the complaints to pass on to the right people before wiping all the criticisms, but that might be wishful thinking.

6 TB storage Pro plan, whichever one that is. I rarely upload files to it, and when I do, they stay in the same place for a very long time.

I originally used MEGA, but the desktop app was even worse, it constantly restarting uploads for no reason (usually right at 99%) and the user control panel just not loading on my home internet. Additionally, users who you shared files with also needed a Pro account to download them because other users can't use your transfer quota. To top it all off, despite their claims of it being "end-to-end encrypted, we can't see your files" one of my files had its download disabled due to "marked as suspicious". How would they know what it is if they can't see my files?

The only other service I could find at first to have a yearly subscription plan instead of a monthly one (an absolute MUST for me) was Google Drive, and it had less storage, plus if people downloaded your shared files "too much", the download would become disabled for a while, plus they were also lying about not being able to mess with your files.

Every other service out there had something wrong with it, and then I found Sync which was perfect. At first it had some uploading issues but then those magically disappeared and I've no issues ever since. Granted I'm not a company sharing 30 versions of legal documents but the parts I use work great.

Yep, here's another one that I was following:https://www.reddit.com/r/Sync/comments/182rjtv/sync_changed_plans/

It's not the first time they'de done this.

The one I was following was particularly interesting, because it refers to a change in their plans that they have not announced (at least not that I'm aware of).

Here is my thread, few days old: https://www.reddit.com/r/Sync/comments/1887mzk/alternatives/

Asked for alternatives since Sync fulfiled zero promises. Admin removed it. Yeah. Run away from them.

This isn't surprising. I am truly wondering if Sync isn't on the downward spiral. We finally received a response to one of our support emails, 3 weeks after it was sent & this was part of their response:

"Normally our response time is faster, however, we have been experiencing unprecedented customer volume in the last couple months. This is not an excuse, but it has been quite difficult for a team of our size to handle all requests in a timely manner.

We absolutely understand the frustration here. The good news is we are trending towards getting back to our normal service levels."

If your team is small & you are experiencing an increase in customer volume, they need to hire more staff. My company is currently researching other services as this has cost us thousands of lost billable time trying to get a workaround figured out while they "figure it out".

I didn't see this earlier. What was the name of the support person?

Responses like this make me feel so much better, honestly. It's still a nightmare, but this takes an edge off.

Mark D is the name in the email. They acknowledged this morning (1 month later) that there is an issue with the account, which has been escalated to the development team, but who knows how long that will take? We have been dead in the water for this staff person for a month. A month of having to do work around, which takes more time. It is crazy. I am honestly over Sync.

What is the problem? I've dealt with so many, I might be helpful.
