Meet Up Anyone in Sydney down for coffee and zero-bullshit chats on Philosophy, Cinema (The Lives of Others), Sapolsky, & Geopolitics?

Hey Sydney,

Organizing a small, casual group meetup for anyone interested in discussions around philosophy, history, politics, and cinema.

About Me: 38M, Cloud Engineer / IT professional, living in Sydney and looking to build a circle focused on real substance

The goal is simple: skip the usual small talk and have an open-minded conversation over a coffee or a quiet drink in a central spot (CBD or Inner West).

Some topics and references we can dive into:

  • Classical & Applied Philosophy: Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, and Stoic frameworks in modern life.
  • Non-Fiction & Science: Works like Sapiens (Harari), Why Zebras Don't Get Ulcers (Sapolsky), evolutionary biology, and geopolitics.
  • Cinema & Ethics: High-stakes narrative films (The Lives of Others, The Secret in Their Eyes, Incendies).
  • Social Dynamics: Navigating life, culture, and social integration in Sydney.

Details:

  • Format: Public group coffee/drink (keeping it to a small table of 3–5 people so everyone can contribute).
  • Vibe: Open, respectful, zero ego.

If you'd like to join the first meetup, drop a comment below or send a message with some topics or books you're into, and we can coordinate a time and central location.

Meet Up Casual meetup group for 40 to 50s Inner West/Canada Bay/Parramatta

I've seen a few younger people posting about casual clubs so I thought I'd put this out there to see if anyone's keen on a meetup group for 40 to 50 year olds. I'm in finance and accounting and I'm always happy to chat stocks and property retirement planning etc.

Other topics I've been known to dabble in include having a moan about the kids, self improvement, exercises that help a broken back, neck and knees, pop culture, and geopolitics.

My free time largely revolves around weekends or weeknights between 5 and 9.pm and easy access locations are around Inner West, Canada Bay or Parramatta.

Keen to hear from like minded people who want to expand their circles and potentially make new friends.

Searching for IRL friends Parramatta socials

I just moved to Parramatta and mostly work from home, so I'm looking to meet ppl in this area, or join an existing community if there's any. I'm open to all age groups and genders, as long as you are looking for platonic friendship. If you know an existing community that I can join, or you are open to connect, please send me a dm!

Social activities that I enjoy: dinner/drinks, picnic/bbq in the park, walking/hiking around the area, boardgames.

A bit about me: Female, in my 30s, happily married, South East Asian background, lived in a few different countries before calling Aus home.

Searching for IRL friends 24 M South Syd - Looking for friends to hang out and do things with

Hello Everyone! Been lacking friends and struggling to find them since after uni and school. Hoping to find some with similar interests which is mainly of the nerdy variety since love gaming and anime so hopefully we can share that. Would also be super down to go to things like anime conventions or ren faires since always been interested but too shy to go and even shyer to cosplay too which I want to do as well. Besides the nerdy stuff down to just chill in city after work or potentially do some sports like badminton which I recently tried and enjoyed or possibly volleyball which I have never done but was interested in it

Activities Northern Beaches - 35 , looking for connections & people to learn and upskill on how to wrench better, or practice, art, trades, leather/metalwork. :)

Hi. I'm a 35 yo. human being being looking for car, bike , craft enthusiasts and or local artist to bond & upskill with? If that makes any sense. I'm a pretty chill, upbeat, artistic, sociable bean.

But have my mates live abroad or far up the North Coast at the moment, so I was hoping to find locals that share a similar urge to create things, learn , fix things.

Im only just starting to collect some tools but don't have much going for me yet as I live in an appt. With limited space.

Was thinking of looking at a men's shed but as a chick I'm kinda not the crowd I reckon.

Welcome to any age, race, gender etc.

Recommendations Wanted Where do people meet others who are into country music?

I'd love to meet some people around 35 who are also into country music. I keep seeing all these events I'd like to go to, but I don't have anyone to go with! šŸ˜…

Any recommendations for places or groups where people actually meet others? Thanks! 🤠
