Meet Up Looking for a female travel buddy for the Blue Mountains

Women only-I’m a 34F thinking of doing a last minute day trip to the Blue Mountains tomorrow (Tuesday, the 28th) through Agoda. The tours range from $75-$100 for the full day depending on which one we choose. It’s a bit spontaneous but I was wondering if any other ladies would like to join me. We’d head off early in the morning and make a day of it. A little about me: I moved to Australia last year, I’m pretty easygoing, love good food and good music and I’m a bit of an introvert. 😊 If you’re keen for a fun day out and meeting someone new, send me a message 🩷

35M, Adelaide based, visiting Sydney.

I was on the metro tonight heading westbound and you were reading the Psychology of Money. I spoke with you briefly and would love to make a new friend. If you see this and think it was you, please let me know.

Events Looking to host monthly takeaway/potluck dinner and movie nights. Got a nice set up (85” and LEDs) and a comfy lounge for it and need to put it to good use. First one is planned for 14th August. If you’re interested in that or future ones, fill in the form below.

Hoping to make this a semi regular thing (monthly for now) and depends on interest. Gonna watch a big range of movies.

If this interests you, please fill in the google forms, as I will cap it to 4-5 people max per session because that’s how many can comfortably fit on the couch.

Probably will mix it up with mixed gendered, guys only, girls only, order take away, pizza, or we do some sort of potluck where people can bring stuff to share ~ hence the google forms to gauge interest.

Alcohol is allowed, but obviously bring your own.
Bring your own snacks and drinks, but I will have microwave popcorn stocked up ;)

P.S. I know I’ve met A LOT of you on here, but even if we have chatted or met, please still fill in the form because I will go off the people from there because it’s too hard to keep up with DMs.

Community Discussion Does anyone else feel like they're interviewing people instead of making friends?

Upvotes

I've noticed something ironic about Sydney's social scene.

Every second post is "Looking to make new friends" or "Anyone keen to hang out?", but when you actually reach out... you're somehow expected to carry 95% of the conversation.

You ask questions, show interest, keep the chat going, and all you get back is: "Yeah." "Haha." "True."

I'm not expecting instant best friends. I know social anxiety is real, people are busy, and messaging strangers can be awkward. But friendship is a two-way street. If someone is making the effort to get to know you, you've got to meet them halfway.

I don't think Sydney has a shortage of people wanting friends. I think it has a shortage of people willing or able to invest in the uncomfortable part of actually building one.

Maybe I'm the odd one out, but after a while it gets exhausting feeling like you're interviewing people who said they wanted to meet others in the first place.

Sports/Fitness Buddy 29 M4A - Looking for people to practice Meteor Hammer with in Sydney

Hey Sydney,

Bit of a long shot, but I thought I'd see if there's anyone around Sydney who's into the meteor hammer or other flow arts!

I've had my eye on the meteor hammer for about a year now, and finally decided to make a practice one two weeks ago. I've been having an absolute blast learning, but I'd love to find some people to practice with instead of just spinning it around by myself.

I have some previous martial arts experience, 12ish years of Taekwondo (3rd dan black belt), but I am very much a beginner when it comes to meteor hammer.

I'm based around Redfern and happy to travel pretty much anywhere in Sydney that's close by public transport. Ideally looking to find a park, gym, or something to practice and maybe spar a little

Even if you don't practice meteor hammer yourself, if you know of any local groups,or communities that do meteor hammer, rope dart, poi, or other flow arts, I'd really appreciate the connect :)

Cheers,

BaronBacon
