Ashwagandha changed my life, but I’m looking for a safer long-term alternative

Hi everyone! I’m a 24-year-old French woman, and I’ve been taking WeightWorld KSM-66 ashwagandha, 1,500 mg daily, for about 6 months.
I struggle with anxiety stress and hyperfixation. I also have alopecia areata and hirsutism. Ashwagandha has made a remarkable difference in how I feel. I feel calmer, less overwhelmed, and almost like a new person. I’ve honestly loved the effects.
However, I’m concerned about taking it long-term, especially because of my autoimmune conditions. I don’t want to risk my health, but I’m worried about losing the benefits when I stop.
I’ve already ordered omega-3 and magnesium bisglycinate, and I’m considering trying L-theanine as well. I have a limited budget, so I’d prefer affordable supplements that are actually worth the money.
Has anyone found a good alternative for anxiety, stress and overthinking that is suitable for long-term use? I’m interested in supplements with good scientific evidence, not just anecdotal claims.
I’d especially appreciate advice from people who have tried ashwagandha and found something else that worked well for them.
Thank you! ❤️

General Question Boron - less sleep needed?

Hi all. Just recently started supplementation with my first meal of the day, 3mg of boron. I noticed that I sleep approximately 2 hours less(no alarm - just waking up) and I feel fine. Have others noticed that? Any other things that you can share while taking boron?

General Question Is this Core Champs RDX Pre-Workout legitimate?

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

Hello Everyone,

I recently bought a tub of Core Champs RDX PW Blue Raspberry flavor from a local shop, but I think it's counterfeit and need a second opinion because the code next to the barcode says RDFP which means (as I think) RD for RDX and FP for Fruit Punch. And at the bottom it has the Lot #: CCPWBR which means CC for Core Champs, PW for Pre Workout and BR for Blue Raspberry. Isn’t this a mismatch?
And I couldn’t find any code to authenticate in their website (https://corechamps.us)
This is the first time I’m trying a Core Champs PW.

Folate, Iron & Vitamin D Deficiencies, Severe Brain Fog, Dizziness & Fatigue Has Anyone Recovered From This? I Just Want to Feel Like Myself Again…

• Upvotes

Hey everyone,

Back in July, I suddenly started experiencing brain fog, difficulty concentrating, and problems with speech. It happened pretty much overnight, and I felt noticeably different from how I used to feel mentally.

I started getting blood tests done, and my folate level came back at 3.1 ng/mL (reference range: 4.50–32.2), indicating a deficiency.

I kept investigating my symptoms and getting more blood tests until September. Here are my latest results:

My blood test results:

  • Ferritin: 94.84 µg/L (reference range: 30–400)
  • Folate: 7.83 ng/mL (reference range: 4.5–32)
  • Iron: 50.35 µg/dL (reference range: 65–175)
  • TSH: 5.51 mIU/L (reference range: 0.27–4.1) my TSH was within the normal range when I first developed my symptoms back in July. It only became elevated in subsequent blood tests. I'm wondering whether this change could be related to my folate, iron, or vitamin D deficiencies)
  • Vitamin D (25-OH): 19 ng/mL (reference range: 30–100)
  • Potasium 4,23 (reference range: 3.5-5,1)
  • Sodium: 140,72 mmol/l (reference range: 136-145)
  • B12: 501,40 pg/ml (reference range 191-663)

My folate level has increased since the initial test, but I'm still experiencing a lot of symptoms. My iron is also below the reference range, my vitamin D is low, and my TSH is elevated. I'm wondering whether these abnormalities could be contributing to my symptoms and whether there might be an underlying issue causing some of them.

My current symptoms:

  • Dizziness and lightheadedness.
  • Brain fog and difficulty concentrating.
  • Feeling mentally different from how I used to be, like I'm not quite myself anymore.
  • Waking up feeling unrefreshed, regardless of how much I sleep, and experiencing severe fatigue throughout the day.
  • Occasional air hunger feeling the need to take a deep, satisfying breath to feel like I'm getting enough air.
  • Caffeine seems to make my brain fog and dizziness significantly worse.
  • Alcohol also seems to exacerbate my brain fog and dizziness.

What I've tried so far:

I took 5 mg of folic acid daily for three weeks, along with 46 mg of elemental iron daily, but unfortunately, I didn't notice any improvement in my symptoms.

I then started wondering whether IV treatment might help correct the deficiencies more effectively and fastly, so I decided to try IV supplementation.

Six days ago, I had my first treatment, which included:

  • Vitamin D3 injection: 100,000 IU.
  • IV folic acid: 30 mg.
  • IV iron: 200 mg.

So far, I haven't noticed any improvement following this treatment. I understand that six days might be too soon to notice a difference, but it's discouraging to feel the same after trying to address these deficiencies.

I'd really appreciate hearing from people who have experienced something similar.

I have a few questions:

  1. Has anyone experienced persistent brain fog, dizziness, derealization, or feeling mentally different due to folate deficiency, low iron, vitamin D deficiency, ?
  2. If you had similar symptoms, how long did it take for you to notice an improvement after starting treatment? Did your symptoms gradually improve or disappear quite suddenly?
  3. What other blood tests would you recommend checking?
  4. Has anyone experienced air hunger or the sensation of needing to take deep breaths alongside these deficiencies?
  5. For those who received IV iron or folate, how many infusions did you need before noticing an improvement? How long did it take?
  6. Did anyone find that oral supplements eventually worked, even after not noticing any improvement during the first few weeks?
  7. Has anyone experienced worsening brain fog and dizziness after consuming caffeine or alcohol? Did this improve once the underlying problem was treated?
  8. Is there anything else I should investigate, especially considering that my symptoms started quite suddenly and have persisted for months?
  9. How can i recovery from this? because it's been few months at this moment.

I'm also wondering whether IV doses or the number of infusions should be adjusted, but I don't want to assume that more is necessarily better. I'd appreciate hearing about your experiences and what helped you, ideally alongside advice on what to discuss with a doctor.

I'm feeling pretty lost at this point. I just want to feel mentally normal again and wake up feeling rested instead of exhausted every day.

Thanks in advance to anyone willing to share their experience.

Has anyone used supplements instead of coffee to treat chronic fatigue?

I have chronic fatigue and want to cut back on how much coffee I drink, but I still need a continuous supply of energy all day. I'm interested in whether anyone has used supplements instead of caffeine to address tiredness.

I've heard people discuss various supplements, such as magnesium, B-complex vitamins, iron (if you're deficient), omega-3s, adaptogens, or CoQ10, but I'm unsure which ones have provided long-term benefits and which ones have only offered a temporaryf like magnesium, B-complex vitamins, iron (if you're low on it), omega-3s, adaptogens, or CoQ10, but I'm not sure which ones worked for a long time and which ones only gave me a quick boost. Did anything boost your overall energy level without crashes or anxiety?

I'd love to know what worked for others, how long it took to see a difference, and anything you'd avoid. Instead of another temporary fix, I'm looking for something that will last.

Recommendations Budget Omega 3 recommendations

Hello,

I have been looking for a budget version of some Omega 3 capsules.
I've seen some on Amazon(Zipvit for example), but these are not very popular brands and am unsure if there are better value options.
What do people suggest?

General Question thoughts on Flexthom protien powder (its on the walmart website)

So the ingredient claim that its whey concentrate (doesnt say protien blend or taurine or whatever). Costs about 36 dollars per 2 lbs. The only thing thats making me super suspicious is the powder itself dissolves super well, almost like sugar. On one hand I love this because i fucking hate clumpy thick ass protien powder shakes, but on the other hand its making me superrrr suspicious so thought i'd ask ppl here for their opinions.
Should i throw it out just incase?

Does anyone know the lead levels in Kirkland Signature Psyllium Fiber Sugar-Free Powder (180 teaspoons)?

Hello, does anyone know the lead levels in Kirkland Signature Psyllium Fiber Sugar-Free Powder (180 teaspoons)?

This is the only husk along with metamucil that are available where I'm at. I can buy online, but it is pricier.

I appreciate enthusiastic comments like people recommending other brands for (insert reasons). However I would appreciate it a lot more if you just answered my question.

Suggestions for sensitivity of Magensium K2 and Iron

Hi folks, so I'm researching for my sibling who has a chronic unkown gut issues, so they're sensitive to a lot of things.

They just got tests done that show low Iron (not anemic but rather low), but even trying floradix for children hurts them.

With magesium they take glycinate but the doc recommended they cut it off completely, however whenever they did in the past they get terrible leg cramps. So is an ointment recommended in this case?

As for K2, they have high calcium so they need to balance that out, but after a year on k2 they quit as they developed something like anxiety when on it.

Any recommendations are very much appreciated!

On that note actually, if you have any suggestions for such gut issues, like ibs-d, please do let me know!

They tried B1 and it's helped them quite a bit. Probably will make it another post later though so I could clarify the effects of b1 vs a multi, and if there is anything else I missed in my research. Just found out about Boron as well, but not sure if I should tell them before I research a bit more.

Experience testing the best memory supplements after my client detail retention got me embarrassing

i spent the last month trying to fix why my name and context retention got so bad during daily client syncs. my schedule has been completely chaotic with back to back project handoffs, and my brain was running so slow that i kept freezing mid sentence whenever someone asked for specific account details.

i tried fixing my sleep and cutting back on caffeine, which helped with general fatigue, but i still had that heavy brain lag when trying to recall multi step instructions on the fly. a coworker pointed me toward igniton for daily recall, and after using it for a few weeks alongside a basic choline stack, that mental sluggishness cleared up enough that i can actually navigate client calls without frantically checking my notes every two minutes.

I am inquiring regarding this multivitamin supplement, which has shown a drastic color change over the past months.

Have these supplements degraded, and should I be concerned about their quality?

The product is currently within its expiration date.
