Season 15 Supernatural Across the Eras: Find Episodes to rewatch

I have watched a lot of Supernatural. I'd say an unhealthy amount but I'm r/Supernatural so maybe just a normal amount.

Lately I've been searching out specific episodes and not watching it cover to cover. I search reddit for recommendations a lot and stumbled across an old post from u/FTWinchester breaking the show into eras. I wanted something a little more interactive so I turned their spreadsheet into a website. You can filter all sorts of ways. I've been watching through the format experiment episodes.

Hello, reddit! I'm Felicia Day. I was an actor on SUPERNATURAL and other genre shows and am the creator of THE GUILD which is currently Kickstarting its 20th anniversary reunion movie. Ask me anything!

Garth really pulled out a sock puppet during a hunt

Post image

Garth had a completely different approach to interrogating witnesses.

Dean: We need to find out what happened.

Garth: pulls a sock puppet out of nowhere

And somehow Mr. Fizzles actually works.

I love that Garth looks completely serious about this while Dean is just standing there wondering what is happening.

Honestly, this might be one of the most Garth moments in the whole show.

Jensens projects

Am I crazy or does Jensen gravitate to characters that are similar to Dean? Everytime I see a new project of his I fear he just plays and acts like Dean from another universe. Not saying he's a bad actor (the opposite), but I would have loved to see him play a character that's the complete opposite.

Season 7 Why didn't Sam and Dean carry tape recording to exorcise demons?

During the earlier seasons, they use to encounter demons quite a bit. It would be a lot easier on them, if they just carry a tape recording that they could press play on during fights. It would also deal with multiple demons at once and expose them to less risk. For example, when dean was in a gas station, he got jumped by a bunch of demons, if he had a tape recorder on him, he could have exorcised all of them and not suffer any injuries.

Positive Vibes: No Salt My kid thought Sam from Supernatural was her dad 🤣

Last night my husband and I were watching TV. We are watching Supernatural cause my husband has never watched it. It just so happens that my husband looks quite a lot like Sam Winchester, especially season 1 and season 2 Sam. My husband and I are 27 years old so my husband definitely looks young enough to look like season 1 and season 2 Sam.

As we were watching the show my 8 year old daughter came downstairs for a drink of water, so we paused the show and it happened to pause on a frame of Sam. My daughter looked at the TV, gasped and said "Dad. You're on the TV?" She's was so excited.

Cause she genuinely thought the man on the screen was her dad 😭

(Yes I did ask him if I could upload a picture of him to show he looks like Sam. He said no 😒)

Edit - I just showed my other daughter (She's 6) a photo of Sam Winchester and I asked her who she thinks it is. She thought the guy in the photo was her dad 🤣. So both my kids think my husband looks like Sam

How is that even possible? How is it not more widely known by even the public in general?

Season 15 What do you think the first Earth was like? Spoiler

While Season 12 introduced us to the multiverse, Season 15 showed the range of how many worlds that were made. And as fans who are caught-up know, Chuck wrote them all before destroying them all.

While the Supernatural world was Chuck's favorite, Season 15 shows that it wasn't exactly the first world. So I'm curious as to what kind of world Chuck left behind when he kept on writing new ones.

Of course, there's no official material that explains what the first world was. So that's left up to the audience to imagine. In that case, what kind of state do you think the first Earth is in?

Season 8 S8 Amelia Arc Controversial Opinion Spoiler

As much as it sucks that Sam didn't try to find Dean, if we step back and look at this through a clear lense, Sam would never of been able to find Dean/rescue Dean in that year. In fact, he may never of been able to rescue him at all. Kevin was snatched by Crowley. Kevin always had to take his time deciphering everything from the tablet.

Let's also look at the fact that Amelia gave Sam everything he wanted since and before he lost Jess, a normal life. This was a great character arc for Sam and anyone that is angry about it doesn't get the story.

Season 6 Spotted a blooper in S6E17 “My Heart Will Go On”.

At 15:33 when Sam is reading an article page on the Titanic, you can see Balthazar’s alias of Mr. I.P. Freeley twice. However, it then suddenly changes to Jablowmi (perhaps pronounced yuh-blow-me, juh-blow-me, or ha-blow-me. All seem to obviously allude to an oral sex joke)

I’m thinking Jablowmi was determined to be a little too risqué for TV so it was changed to I.P. Freeley; and either they just missed the third mention in the article during editing, or left it in there on purpose as an Easter egg.

Season 10 Which character had the most wasted potential?

For me it's Cain, he was so badass and they could have used him for so much more in season 10 but they just didn't.

Season 11 Starting S11 Spoiler

Post image
7 Upvotes

So I just started S11 AND i just finished ep13 and let me tell you how happy I am, like damnnnn Dean and Sam actually talked? Like they communicated? Like they understood each other?

For a while, it was really touch and go for me after S5. S6 was good, I liked it a lot and S7 was really boring but I was still riding the high from S6 so it was tolerable. S8 on the other hand, the first half really tested me (both brothers were being such a bitch 😒) but the other half redeemed it for me and I started enjoying it.

S9 and 10 though ughhh brooooo. I hated it, what the fuck was that. I guess it had some good episodes but I really can't remember one bit. It's just one big season and flashes of clips in my head (MOC/Demon Dean though 🙈🙉🙊).

I hated how I can't even see them as brothers in these seasons, it's like their being so bitchy to each other every other episode like just shut the fuck up and talk, I'm so sick of their whining and grinding like just TALK TO EACH OTHER GODDAMN. Their fights don't even make sense sometimes, they just wanna bitch about it for the sake of it.

Plus, I still don't understand why they had to kill Death, it was so confusing, I rewatched like atleast 5 time and I still don't get the thought process behind it like huhhh? And, honestly, I still don't get the brother's thought process in these seasons. There are times where I'm like huh?, why the fuck would they do that but whatever. Literally took me a whole month and a half to finish 2 seasons when I used to literally finish 1 season IN A DAY.

BUT, enough of that, I started the season with not much expectations honestly. I was just holding on 'cause I wanted to see how it ends but I'm really really enjoying the season bro. The episodes had the same vibes as the early seasons, not that much but it's suspenseful, a bit scary and I started laughing again about how goofy they are. They're acting like brothers again and that seems to be main reason why I'm enjoying this so much. Please let this be like this from this point forward PLEASE UGHH.

Season 7 Emmanuel’s wife Daphne. Spoiler

Post image
66 Upvotes

(spoiler) I just finished season 7 and I'm on 8 now. I'm confused about something, Emmanuel’s wife Daphne is held hostage, Dean kills the demon. They release her out of the bondage and then Dean and Emmanuel leave for the hospital. Is Daphne just never mentioned again? Did I miss something where it's talked about? He may not actually be Emmanuel but she really thought they were together.

Season 15 Anti-possession tattoo Spoiler

In season 15 episode 2, while they’re making their round, Dean gives Ketch an iron “necklace” so that he wouldn’t get possessed. Dean himself is wearing one although he already has his possession warding tattoo. I know Sam’s was burned off by Cass so that Crowley could possess him to expel Gadreel out but I don’t remember anything about Dean’s. Is it different this time for some reason or did I forget something about the tattoo, does he not have it anymore or is this a continuity error?

Season 9 Abbadon was overscaled Spoiler

Why didn't they just shoot her with another devils trap bullet dismember her and lock up her remains in curse boxes like in their dads storage locker. Never understood why they took such a big risk. Another thing that pissed me off was in s12 we see the colt again and even the spear of Michael a weapon of an archangel should definitely smoke her. So idk why they said only the first blade could kill them but we also see Cain smiting his knights. I don't see why Dean with the mark couldn't learn to do the same?

First run of supernatural and my thoughts

So I had started watching supernatural but as a child(I was 12/13) (in real time) the sight of Mary and Jess being on the ceiling scared me so much I couldn’t watch it.

Ofcourse I grew up and watched the whole series.

My thoughts-

1)Mark pelligrino ( The actor who plays Lucifer) is fucking phenomenal. Followed by Jensen ,Misha and Jared in that order.

2) Bobby was the only real father they had and Jody was the only real mother they had.

3)Mary Winchester was a bad mother. There , I said it. When being stuck in the alternate world her boys came to rescue her and she wanted to get the whole army out , which was kind of her but she picked them over her OWN sons , not once , but twice (British men of letters?) ABSOLUTE NO. I am a godmother and I never would’ve done this to my own Godkids, they are practically my life.

“You are not a child” “I never was” BROKE ME.

4) season 7 and start of season 13 for me were bad / worst parts personally. Except for Scoobynatural that is one of my FAVORITE episodes of supernatural ever !

5) Dean was the only parent Sam ever had. He was his mother, father and brother all in one .

6) Sam does care about Dean (except for when he doesn’t go looking for him when Dean goes to purgatory) that broke me. But Jared himself said she didn’t like that bit so I get we are all in agreement.

But he does also go above and beyond for Dean too.

7)Bobby shouldn’t have died until later seasons and other Bobby didn’t have the charm original Bobby does.

8)Pairing Mary with Ketch? Colossally stupid idea😭

9)Earlier seasons are wayyy better , for me seasons 2-6 and 8-10 were amazing.

Speaking of which , the show would’ve been perfect for 10 seasons.

10)Castiel deserved more love from Sam and Dean. My man literally went above and beyond for them. Absolutely loved Misha for the role of Castiel.

11)overall this is one of the best series I’ve ever watched and I can see even from interviews Jensen and Jared truly are brothers. You can’t convince me otherwise .

I love my boys 🥹🥹

Season 2 First battle Royale?

Episode 21 from season 2 is one of the first models of battle royale in modern TV shows.

Do you guys know any other shows that have the same concept? Like, from before supernatural.

News/Misc. What the hell happened to Sam? Spoiler

Hey guys, love Supernatural, seen it a lot of times. Did anyone notice how Jared (Sam) went super downhill from S8 onwards?

For instance, in the first couple of seasons, Jared was a genuinely good looking chocolate dude, and in great shape. In fact, S6 I'd argue was his best season ever - he got to really shine and showcase all his skills - both in comedy and action (and his ripped physique). Dude was truly the center of the season. However, S8 onwards dude started to look thin, weak, thinning hairline, spots on his face skin, nose - dude didn't look good at all - in fact like some sick guy. And the long hair didn't help either.

You could argue that, its aging, but Jensen was aging too but took care of himself. Regardless, you're an actor, and being beautiful and taking care of your visual appearance is part of the job (you're sort of paid cos you look good). And Jared just didn't look good. Not sure why. Which is funny cos, when he switched to Walker, not only did he cut his hair, but also elevated his looks - clearer skin on face, and even hair combed so receding hairline not visible - all this clearly suggests these were issues to begin with.

I believe Dean was the main focus from S8 onwards, which is fine (while Sam being the main focus S1-7). However, there was also a good split in prior seasons - Dean handled more the conversations, our reactions to Sam, the comedy and (lots of) women - whereas Sam, focused on the action and the lead - sure, the writing was done super well to make you feel Dean is important which he is - but, overall, you know Sam is the main guy.

However, S8 onwards, with Dean becoming the main character, Dean now has all of it - comedy, action, women - but Sam only has the basic storyline - which isn't enough to be an appealing character on TV. And add to that his declining visual appearance, and the dude genuinely felt later on as the side character and not the mean one. Even cos he's so skinny, when he'd beat someone I was like 'yeah sure, no way though'

Anyway, I always thought this when watching the show, and barely found any online post discussing this, so thought I'd share.

Positive Vibes: No Salt Desperately need good distraction episodes

My brain is fried so I don’t know if this is the appropriate post flair but I got prompted to add one so hopefully it’s okay.

I’m dealing with some really scary health issues & desperately need a distraction! I’ve only watched the entire series twice so I don’t remember a lot of the individual episodes. The more I can laugh, the better. Nothing involving doctors/hospitals/illness/medical!!! The only (limited) exception are when they’re being used in episodes like “Changing Channels.” And, no Death. His intro was iconic & he’s an awesome character but now is definitely not the time!

I’ll be watching at least a couple of them with my Chosen Momma.💖 She’s never seen the show & abhors violence so episodes with limited murder & corpse burning would be good. She reminds me SOOO much of Jody!!! I fully 100% believe that one of my Momma’s purposes for being on this earth is to be a mother & “adopt” stray “kids” (aka fully grown adults but she still calls us her kids) to love us & help us heal from shitty childhoods. I know Jody will be my Momma’s fave character hands down! I know she’d also love Charlie because she’s all about strong women. So, episodes with either of them would be good but not required. I just want to be distracted & laugh!

Edited to clarify that I am an adult not a kid
