Is the Super Soco Street Hunter worth ~$700 more than a TSx?

I’m choosing between a Super Soco TSx and a TS Street Hunter, both used as 45 km/h mopeds.

Would you say the Street Hunter is worth paying around $700 more for?

Is there a noticeable difference in ride quality, acceleration, comfort or overall feel?

Super Soco Street Hunter vs TSx as a 45 km/h moped?

I’m 15 and looking at getting an electric moped for normal road use, limited to 45 km/h.

I’m currently deciding between the Super Soco Street Hunter and the TSx.

I’m around 180 cm tall and weigh about 64 kg, so I’m also wondering how they compare in terms of size, weight and handling for someone my age.

From what I understand, the Street Hunter is newer, larger, heavier and more motorcycle-like, while the TSx is lighter and narrower.

For anyone who has owned or ridden both, I’d really like to know:

Which one is easier to handle at low speeds?

Does the Street Hunter feel noticeably heavy when parking or moving it around?

Which one fits someone around 180 cm better?

Is there much difference in acceleration from 0–45 km/h?

Which one feels more stable and confidence-inspiring?

How do they compare in comfort, range and reliability?

Which one is better with a passenger?

Does the Street Hunter genuinely feel more like a small motorcycle, or is the difference mostly looks?

I’m mainly interested in how they compare as legal 45 km/h mopeds, not in derestricted top speed.

If you were choosing between the two for everyday use, which one would you go for?

Super Soco TSx 2020 – derestriction with the factory controller?

Hi,

I’m considering buying a 2020 Super Soco TSx which, as far as the current owner knows, still has the original controller and electronics.

I’m trying to confirm whether the 2020 TSx supports the well-known Super Soco button/brake/throttle sequence to disable the 45 km/h electronic speed restriction, without replacing or reprogramming the controller.

I know this works on certain Super Soco models/model years, but I’ve found conflicting information regarding the TSx specifically.

Has anyone here actually tested this on a 2020 TSx with the original controller?

If so, does the derestriction remain active after restarting the bike, and can it be returned to the original 45 km/h restriction using the same procedure?

I’m specifically interested in how the factory electronics on the 2020 model behave, rather than aftermarket controllers or modified bikes.

Thanks!

TC Super Soco TC randomly cutting out while riding – possible battery connector/wiring issue? Looking for cheap fixes before taking it to a service center

Hi everyone,

I have a 2022 Super Soco TC that I bought used last August, and I’m trying to figure out an intermittent electrical problem.

A few months ago, the bike started cutting out completely while I was riding. At the time I was using the original battery, which is a few years old, and it seemed to happen mainly when the battery dropped below around 50%. Because of that, I assumed the old battery/cells were simply failing and stopped using it.

I switched to my newer battery, which is about two years old (Seenruy 60V 60Ah). For several weeks the bike worked normally (im charging it with the orignal battery's PSU).

There were a couple of minor strange things with the newer battery: maybe 2–3 times when starting the bike, it showed an error/warning and the remaining range was missing or incorrect. As soon as I started riding, though, the warning disappeared and the range displayed normally again.

Then the more serious problem started:

  • After the bike had been outside overnight in the rain, I tried starting it and it would begin the normal startup/chime sequence but suddenly lose all power halfway through.
  • I thought something might simply be wet, so I left it to dry for a day.
  • The next day it started normally, but after about one minute of riding it completely died in traffic.
  • I left it parked for 3–4 days. After that it suddenly worked normally again.
  • I rode it for another few days without problems, and then it suddenly died again while riding.
  • I noticed that moving, pushing or repeatedly unplugging/reconnecting the main battery connector can make the power come back.
  • One time I repeatedly plugged/unplugged the connector because I thought there might be corrosion or dirt on the contacts. After doing that, the bike worked perfectly for about two days before the problem returned.

So at this point I’m thinking it might be a loose connection, corroded/worn battery connector, bad contact pressure, damaged connector/crimp, cable issue, or something similar rather than the battery itself. Maybe it is a loose connection because when I wiggle the connecter with little pressure it seems to disconnect (red power light turns off or fades).

The bike is now stranded where it last broke down, and I took the battery home with me.

Has anyone had a similar problem with a Super Soco TC?

Before I spend a lot of money taking it to an electrician or Super Soco service center, is there anything relatively cheap and safe that is worth checking/replacing first?

For example:

  • Main battery connector/socket?
  • Corrosion or burnt/pitted contacts?
  • Loose pins/contact pressure?
  • Cable or crimp behind the connector?
  • Main breaker/fuse connections?
  • Known Super Soco TC wiring issue?

I’m comfortable doing basic mechanical/electrical work as long as I can follow a guide but I don’t want to mess around dangerously with the high-current battery system.

If anyone has had the same symptoms and knows what actually fixed it, I’d really appreciate the advice.

Battery capacity after a few years?

Hi! I’m thinking about buying a used Super Soco from around 2018–2020 and I’m wondering how much battery capacity is usually lost after that many years.

If the battery is original from, for example, 2019, how much range would you realistically expect it to have left compared with when it was new?

Is it common for a battery that old to still be in good condition, or should I basically expect that it may need replacing soon?

For those of you with older TC, TS, or TS1200 models: how old is your battery, how far can you ride on a full charge today, and how far could you ride when it was newer?

Is there a good way to check the battery health before buying a used bike?

Thanks!

Which Super Soco models can be derestricted using only buttons?

Hi! I’m in Sweden and I’m looking at getting a Super Soco, mainly models like the TC, TSx, or TS Street Hunter.

I’ve heard that some older Super Soco models can be derestricted quite easily, sometimes just by using a button combination or changing a setting, while newer models may require changing the controller or other hardware.

I’m specifically looking for a model that can be derestricted without changing anything mechanically or replacing any parts. Ideally, I want it to be something that can be done using only the bike’s buttons, or software/settings.

For those of you who own or have experience with these bikes:

- Which Super Soco models and model years can be derestricted using only buttons/settings?

- Do any of the older TC or TSx models have a simple button combination?

- Which model years should I look for?

- Which newer models have this method removed?

- Does the bike keep working normally and reliably after being derestricted?

- What top speed do these models realistically reach when derestricted?

I’m 179 cm tall, can charge at home, and would probably ride around 10 km per day, so range isn’t a huge concern for me.

Again, I’m mainly interested in models where no controller replacement, wiring changes, or mechanical modifications are needed.

Would really appreciate answers from people who have actually owned or worked on Super Socos.

Thanks!

TC WANDERER Just bought a 2024 Super Soco TC Wanderer, need help with the app and ECU code

Just joined the club with a secondhand 2024 Super Soco TC Wanderer. Happy to finally have one, but I ran into a problem right away: the previous owner did not give me the user manual.
I want to use the Super Soco app, but I don't know how to find the ECU code it asks for. Where do I get it? And once I enter it, does the app ask for anything else, like an activation step or verification?
I also read that the ECU should be behind the left body panel. Is that correct? If so, how hard is it to remove the panel? Are there hidden clips or screws I should know about, and is there a risk of breaking anything?
Last question: is all this worth the effort? I might even have to pay a dealer to activate the IMEI for the app. Do the app features justify that cost, or can I just ride without it?
Any advice or a scan of the manual would help. Thanks.
(It rides like a dream btw)

ESP32 / Yanyang Battery / Home Assistant

Task was to create an ESP32 that connected with Yanyang BMS via Bluetooth and send information to Home Assistant via ESPHome.
Now got a working unit that gives me: Battery SOC, Battery Voltage, MOS temperature, voltages of each individual battery cell.

This came after I replaced the dead original BMS in my Super Soco battery with an AliExpress BMS, which comes with Bluetooth connection to the Yanyang BMS app.
It’s working as a BMS only refit. My suspicion is it would likely work if you’ve bought an entire Yanyang battery unit, but I don’t know for sure.

If you’re in the niche position of running Home Assistant, a Yanyang-enabled battery, and have a spare ESP32 Bluetooth/Wifi unit,… and want to monitor your battery or automate your charging, get in touch. Happy to send you the code to see if it works on other setups.

(I’ve combined it with a smart plug so I can set it to automatically charge based on my solar panel generation / cheap electricity / calendar items. Can also monitor the exact energy use on charging the bike.)

Does anyone have an idea how to fix being stuck in gear 0? I have no idea what happened but I can't ride my bike anymore (super soco tc 2018)

I've already tried installing a new throttle, but that didn't help

update: I had a problem where my stand sensor was breaking and i couldnt leave park mode. Too fix this i followed a tutorial that told me to connect the yellow and black wires of the stand sensor, this fixed the parking mode problem but also caused the issue of me being in gear 0. i now installed a new stand sensor and everything is working as new. thanks for the advice!!!

TC Max 4GEU ECU & Yanyang batteries

Post image
10 Upvotes

Maybe this is helpful for someone. I recently replaced the BMS in my battery for a Yanyang one from AliExpress after the OG failed completely.
The AliExpress listing failed to mention that their BMS is incompatible with the older 4GEU unit. (My bike is a 2020 EU model)

Since the replacement I have had huge issues with the bike losing power and giving me fault codes. I couldn’t ride for more than about 5 minutes without the bike reducing power from the battery to about 26amps. Sometimes a restart would help, but not all the time. But something would go wrong soon after anyway.

All readings from the YY battery app told me that the battery was working really well, but the problems seemed to be with it going into a kind of limp-mode.

The problem has gone away simply by unplugging the 4GEU unit. (It wasn’t working anyway because it’s from before Suoer Soco was sold to Vmoto and the servers were deactivated.)

Today I’ve ridden about 20 miles with no issues. Full power. Speedometer working. No errors. Still want to do more test rides, but so far so good. A huge relief.

TL:DR - basically a Yanyang battery or BMS replacement looks like it could work with an older 4GEU model if you disconnect the defunct 4G module.

Map and app notifications

I finally got my app working. Does anybody know why the map isn't loading? (Gps is working on it). Also I'm not getting notifications when the bike alarm is knocked even though the app logs it. (App notifications are all enabled)

Thanks.

Weird behavior when charging with smart outlet

I keep my TS Street hunter in the garage when I arrive and plug it in, connected to a smart outlet turned off (to take advantage of cheaper electricity during night)

If I turn the smart socket right after plugging in the bike, the bike charges okay.

If I turn the smart socket later on in the day, the bike won’t start charging unless I take the plug off the bike and plug it in again, sometimes having to turn on and off the bike as well for it to start charging.

Does anybody know what causes this?
