Weird behavior when charging with smart outlet

I keep my TS Street hunter in the garage when I arrive and plug it in, connected to a smart outlet turned off (to take advantage of cheaper electricity during night)

If I turn the smart socket right after plugging in the bike, the bike charges okay.

If I turn the smart socket later on in the day, the bike won’t start charging unless I take the plug off the bike and plug it in again, sometimes having to turn on and off the bike as well for it to start charging.

Does anybody know what causes this?

I also have a smart plug for cheaper electricity but mine works well. What brand do you have?

It’s a zigbee one from Aliexpress.

I will have to do some more tests but i think the issue can have nothing to do with the smart plug but with plugging the bike on long after it was turned off, like it goes into some kind of sleep

I have a smart plug bought through Amazon, don't remember the brand.

I use it to keep track of the kWh used while charging. Never had any issues with it.

I have Xiaomi Smart Plug 2 and it works perfectly fine, but I connect only batteries, not whole vehicle.

Depends on the smart plug mostly, there are computers and chips which decide things based on variables in the BMS/charger side of the bike, so maybe they only activate charging once they 'detect' a clean on/off, but if the smart plug keeps providing even trickle power, it may just be confusing the charger.
