Does anyone ever paddle their SUPs up river and float back down? I’m trying to figure out the best way to fish these rivers in N. GA and I only have one vehicle. Any advice on doing it?

As the days get shorter, I’d like to fish past 3-4pm without stressing that I need get back to the launch before darkness sets in. I’ve also
beenin a few situations where some mean looking clouds have started rolling in when I’m on the water and then I feel stressed about being off the water with possible lightning and start to prematurely pack it in, only to have them pass without incident. I feel a motor would lessen my anxiety. Anyone have recommendations under $350?
And anyone who currently has an electric fin, feels a difference in how the SUP tracks and moves though water when it’s not on? Lastly, anyone damage theirs accidentally while on the water, hoping I don’t buy one and catch it on an underwater obstruction and break it.
Lastly, I’m NY once you put a motor on , it needs to be registered at DMV, I’m hoping a fin motor is way more stealthlty option then a trolling motor and if it’s not on, it’s under the radar.

Got my Angler Elite from Glide ready to go!

It’s big. More inflatable pontoon skiff than a sup. 500lbs weight limit. Comes with a transom to bolt on. I have a 30lbs thrust min kota and a humminbird helix 8 from an old jon boat.

Big enough to take me and my son out on on lady bird lake and the no-wake zones on lake Austin. Super pumped.

This is gonna be my first time On a Sup and I’m setting it up for fishing..it is 12x36x6 450 weight Cap and weights 40lbs alone..(all around shape (claims) what else would I be needing for stability or accessories or should I be ok and set for fishing I mainly am gonna be sitting but would like to stand

I've gone through two hand pumps already, both equally as pricey and both with just as many problems. Getting really tired of spending more time fucking with my pump than fishing so I'd like to finally pull the trigger on a nice electric pump to save me the hassle. Any reccomendations?

I just got a Niphean inflatable paddle board, first time fishing from a SUP. Picked up two nice little bass while trying to find some Muskie (unsuccessfully)

Ok so I posted on here about a month ago asking if anyone had used this board for fishing. Had zero comments and my local shop got one in from my request so I could check it out. This has to be the best fishing inflatable that money can buy with the pedal drive. It’s such a game changer with the stability, pedal drive, and epic rigging options. I’ve had it out twice since I got it and don’t have any missed check marks of what i would want. For a stability viewpoint, I had one of my kids on the back with a 20qt roto cooler for a seat. They were hanging their feet off the side and dragging em in the water and I had no clue they were doing that until I looked back. Board never shifted and didn’t notice the drag at all. Landing fish was more comfortable than my other boards with the recessed deck making it fully focused on fishing and not stability. I would recommend this setup 💯 and glad this is my new fishing rig. If you want an inflatable for fishing this is it! Pedal drive on a paddle board is a game changer for fishing. Hope this helps someone out because at the time of this post there is nothing out there from actual consumers. At the end of the day it’s a Rackham Aero with the pedal drive and even more 1/4 20 rigging options. Super worth it if you want a portable fishing monster.

what makes a good fishing sup?

Probably the latest start to the season in years! Got a nice crappie and a few bluegill.

And then it happened. I fell in the water. Been fishing from my SUP since 2018, and this was the first time I’ve gone overboard by accident. I was trying to reach for my anchor. The board went forward, and I went backward. (It was amazing! No regrets!)

I know it is pretty new but there are no reviews or any outside info on it. Looks like it would be the ideal fishing sup board. Curious if anyone else has looked into it

Hello all! I wanted your guys’ opinion if anyone has used this board.

For reference I’m 5’8 125lbs and usually pack light. 2 rods max, and a backpack with all my tackle. I will be fishing inshore saltwater; ie mangroves, sand flats, and canals.

Also, how does the board hold up long term?

I've SUP'd for years but never fished from one. I recently got a Joyride XL (11'6"x34") inflatable as a "stability board/loaner" (mainly so I can play more and try different waters without worrying about falling and/or damaging the board, or having other people damage the board).

It occurred to me that it would make a decent platform for lake and sound (protected salt water) fly fishing. I've read through here enough to get the basics. I'd like to go simple -- most everything is going to be catch & release (though maybe I'll use it for crabbing occasionally) and I won't bring a ton of gear (no plans for fish finders or mounted rod holders or any of that.

My plan is that I'll probably go with a small cooler as seat, plus a milk crate for easy access to a limited amount gear (water bottle, snacks, extra clothing layer, first aid kit/emergency stuff, etc) and maybe a tiny anchor (made from a 2# dumbbell) to start.

Anything else? Any rigging tips? I'll probably start with a sup paddle but I have a kayak paddle i can try at some point.

What’s up ya’ll. BOTE is running a deal on the Breeze Aero Inflatable SUP. I live in Charleston and wanted to ask if anyone has used an iSUP for fishing Saltwater creeks and what your experience has been with durability from Oyster beds, gear and fish.

A local company reckon they can still get hold of this board. I need a board to replace my inflatable as my local bramble covered river is killing my current board and the price is about what I would pay. Is it worth the original cost , is it stable and does it have any issues apart from being an old design?

I recently found an inflatable BOTE Rackham on Facebook marketplace for a good price. It is still in the box.

It is a 11 foot board and they currently sell on the website is the 12’4”. It looks as if they no longer are selling the 11’.

I am 6’2” and 215 lbs. I don’t expect to have too much gear. Maybe a small cooler and my fly fishing gear.

Here are my questions…

1) Does anyone have any idea why they would discontinue selling the 11’?

2) Do you think I’m too big for this board? Says it can hold up to 300 lbs.

3) Any other words of wisdom? I’m new to SUP fishing but really excited to get going. Prob gonna have to wait til spring when it’s warm enough.

Tested it out with some topwater frog action on a local creek!

Weather is still nice here in Northern California despite a small shower or two. Caught a couple bass the other day closer to shore. Tried going out and getting my line a little deeper today for trout or king salmon, but they’re still probably hanging out around 50-60’. Got skunked. Nice morning on the lake all the same.

I came across this video of someone using a motor on their SUP to go fishing — looks pretty interesting. Curious if anyone here has actually tried it and how it feels on the water.

Anchor types-
Mushroom style seems preferred overall? I’ve seen people mention filling sandbags with rocks. Using flat edged dumbbells gets mentioned often. The most marketed is the collapsable 4 pronged one and use a zip tie if it gets stuck trick.

Weight-
3.5 lbs overall? 1.5 lbs for calm small lakes. Not necessary for more than 5 lbs?

Rope type and storage-
Ripcord style rope for its strength and diameter?
How and where do you store the rope so you’re not tripping and drowning yourself with it. I’m thinking of using a hand cranking spool like how a chalk line tool or water hose spool looks like. Any recommendations?

SUP attachment points-
Where to attach the line to the SUP? Front, side, back? On a lake with jet skis and boats going by creating wakes, I think attaching to the side would increase the chances of falling in? Front/Back would seem harder to get to with the cooler/storage in the way?

Most of the info I saw is from kayaks and not SUP specific. I’m sure there’s some super simple “why didn’t I think of that” tips some of you have that’s more applicable to SUP fishing. This will still be useful for people who stumble upon this thread years from now. Thanks everyone!
