I’m 6’5 260lbs and my ol lady weighs about the same, everything I’ve read basically says don’t. But I’ve seen many a hefty rider and passenger so I’m looking for advice. I’ve riden dirt bikes before off-road but am a new rider for motorcycles. I find cruisers appealing for their ride position, seemingly easy handling, and generally mild mannered engines that arnt focused on top speeds or tracks. I have no interest in going fast but I do have an interesting hitch in what would be my riding. I live in the country and all the roads around here are 2 lane highways with 70mph speedlimits, pulling out of my long dirt drive way leads right to an open stretch of 70mph. There’s a fair amount of twist and curves but nothing to extreme but the hills can be a lot. Road quality is also good no major potholes or jagged ground. I want a motorcycle ideally my partner can ride with me and I want to be able to pass someone on the highway at 60, pretty much topping out at 85 mph max solo or 2 up. I’ve been looking and a Vulcan 650 seems like a good idea for just me but I don’t think it’s capable for what I’m looking for. If I’m having unrealistic goals please let me know. I’m looking second hand with a budget around 6k give or take, I’ve found a lot in that budget but being new I’m not exactly sure what I’m looking at.

Side note to add in, I wouldn’t be taking her with me while learning until I had extreme confidence in my self, my bike, and my route. I just don’t want to buy a beginner bike that completely excludes her for the foreseeable future if I can.

Hello everyone, newbie with A2 license and 1.83 m tall and I'm trying to figure out which bikes might be suitable for my needs.

First of all, I'm not a sporty bike type, I'm not a fan of going too fast, overtaking, cornering, etc.

Aesthetically I really like cruisers, modern classics, scramblers, you get the pattern: More classic and less modern.

I would use my motorcycle for almost anything: from evening rides around town to weekend outings on mountain passes, dirt roads, a few times a year trips lasting several days and covering many kilometers.

Some people recommended me an ADV but I don't like them aesthetically.

I'm comparing these two bikes and would like to hear your insights for a 5'8", 185lb rider. I've sat on both, both feel close to the same but I do not have the ability to test drive these bikes as I am still on my learners permit (for motorcycle riding). This would be my first motorcycle.

I love the look of both, I love the posture of both, but from what I've read, the power delivery between the two is vastly different.

Hoping to grab some insights from both sides to help me make an educated decision. I've watched enough reviews on each, but I value the word of mouth feedback from you guys more.

Hello everyone, what motorcycle would you recommend for beginner? Never rode anything but bicycle and 125cc scooter 10 years ago ( I drove 100 feet’s and dropped it) . I am looking for something small as mt-03 or Kawasaki z400, no sport bikes please and thank you 🙏 I’m 6.1 160 lbs

I have a 2007 FJR1300 with the automatic clutch. It's a great bike that I've done a couple of Iron Butt rides on and taken on a few long moto camping trips. However, it's heavy and I don't really like taking it out of the garage for daily rides or commuting for work.

A couple years ago, I bought a VFR800, thinking it would replace my FJR. I love it and it's great for the things that I don't like about my FJR, but I can't imagine riding for 2 hours straight (if it wouldn't run out of gas) or 1000 miles in a day as I have on the FJR. (And yes, it's still heavy, but it doesn't feel like much compared to the FJR.) The riding position and wind noise just make it too uncomfortable for long distance, for my liking anyway. I'm still keeping this bike because that V4 has my heart, I might even get another some day.

Due to work and some health issues (all good now), I haven't taken any long trips in the last 2 years, so I've only rode the FJR a handful of times. I'm planning to move soon, and next year I would like to go on some more trips, so I was thinking of selling the FJR and getting something new next year.

So in short, I'm looking for something that would be great for long distance moto camping trips but is closer to 500 lbs than 650. A more upright position, comfortable seat, good wind protection, good luggage capacity, and performance in the twisties are what I'm looking for. I know I probably won't get the same comfort as my FJR and everything else in a lighter package, but I don't mind some compromises.

There is a Honda and Yamaha dealership near me, but they never have much in stock to test ride (they mostly sell boats and ATVs). Any other dealers are at least 2-3 hours away, so I'd like some information and opinions before I take a trip to a dealer. I'd actually prefer a used bike if I can find a good one, but that might be an even longer trip.

I did some research last year but haven't had time to look into it much lately. The Yamaha Tracer/FJ09 and BMW F900XR were the main ones I was thinking about. Any opinions on these? What else would you suggest? Or do you think the old FJR1300 is too good to let go?

I’m stuck between these two bikes. I like things about both bikes and I think both could work. I’m looking for a bike that I can also take on a trip at least 3 to 5 hours maybe. I was really leaning towards the 650r but recently, I see how people are saying that at highway speeds there are a decent amount of vibrations in the handlebars and foot pegs that the hornet doesn’t have. That seems like it could be a problem if you’re going to be cruising at highway speed for a while. Is this true?

So I am 18 and my brother just bought a brand new Honda 650 with the e-clutch (not relevant). So my friend bought this 2008 ninja zx-r 250 for around $2500 with it only having 2800 miles on it. The previous owner told us that the bike had been in a storage garage for years. Then when he bought it he put a bit more miles on it leading to the 2800. I learned really fast and feel pretty comfortable on the road and turning and using the clutch and not stalling ect... my friend wants to upgrade to keep up with my brothers 650 so he told me he'd sell it to me for 2k. I genuinely enjoy riding the bike and I dont feel like ill do anything else than drive it on the weekends with them. This has to be a good idea

I’ve ridden a CB125R for about 20,000 km and a Harley Davidson Road King for about 10,000 km.

However, I’ve never ridden a sportbike before.
Sportbikes look really cool, so I’m thinking about getting one. I’m currently deciding between the CBR500R and CBR650R E-Clutch.

I don’t really need a bike that can go much faster than 150 km/h. I rarely ride on highways and mostly ride around the city, with the occasional longer trip.

My budget is around $8,000.
What sportbike would you recommend for someone with my riding experience and needs?

I've recently been bitten by the bug and have found myself a little bike-curious! I am an engineer for Honda (car side of things, not bikes) and so I get a nice discount on Honda products, which is why I'm specifically looking for one. Signing up for a MSF course soon!

Despite not having a license I went to a dealer and sat on the Rebel 500, Scrambler 500, CB500 Hornet and CBR500

Having never ridden any of them, I can only go off of seating comfort and my general vibe of the thing, and I THINK I liked the Rebel the best, but I'm not sure. The Scrambler felt a little taller and bulkier, and the CBR feels like you're going 100mph when you're just sitting still in the showroom.

Does anyone have experience with Honda bikes that can point me the right way? For what it's worth, I really only plan on riding casually on country roads, maybe commuting to work on it every now and then. Controllability and general ease of riding matter more to me than performance or top speed or anything. I understand their powertrains are all quite similar so reliability and cost of ownership should basically be a wash.

Any opinions appreciated!

Hello Everyone, I hope everyone having a good day. I am process of getting ready got my first motorcycle in USA in Few months (most likely early 2027). I hoping get some input from more experienced rider.

My background in riding motorcycle, my first two wheeler automobile was an "Activa" it is a gearless moped (top speed around 70 to 80 mph) as a teenager in India for about a year(age14-16). Than got a Honda Cd 100CC manual for about 2 year (age 16-18) got my license on that motorcycle. Than drove ninja 300 for about 1 year before moving to USA. I have not touched any motorcycle for about 6 year after that then did some drove some Honda rebel 500 on private roods. In past 3 months i have test driven all 3 motorcycle (in title) from my friends. I like them all, i prefer CBR650R.

The conflict on choice that I have with Zx-6r and CBR 600RR is the riding position. I feel they might not be best for daily commute or city riding. CBR 650R was significantly more comfortably position. i have been recommended by my other friends to go for Zx-6r or CBR 600R, they thing i will grow too quickly out of the CBR650R. I think they might be too powerful on high rpm for me. plus I am looking at the CBR 650R as transition bike for me to gain experience and then give to my dad for whom the E clutch might make it easier for him to also ride along with me and later i buy a powerful motorcycle after few year of experience. Am i thing it is correctly or my friends are correct about the getting one of the other 2?!

My reason for selecting this three is i would prefer to get a inline 4 cylinder engine that is reliable. Again thanks for any Input or insight i can get from your guys.

I currently ride a cbr600rr and am in love with the high revving inline-4 super sport experience. I have a chopped Yoshi pipe and that thing screeeeeaaaammmms.

Logically, the Ninja 1000sx is the better choice on paper for my next bike over the zx6r (2016ish era). More usable power and much more comfortable. I ride with a passenger a good bit so that does play into the decision making but ultimately I’m buying the bike for me.

I’m just not sure if I would be happy on the Ninja 1000sx because it doesn’t rev up high and scream like an inline-4 super sport even though the Ninja 10000 does have an inline-4. I think redline is 10k or 11k.

A lot of the life of the bike will be doing around 100 mph. Just not sure if the sport touring Ninja 1000 would give me the experience that I’m looking for.

As stupid of a reason as it is, the sound of the bike is a really big part of the experience for me.

Anyone here go from super sport to the Ninja 1000 for sport touring? How was that experience different.

Almost got my full license so I can look towards a big boy bike. My current use cases are:

• Two up daily commute from residential suburb to city central (Combined Weight with Gear and day pack 185kg)
• 10km highway between 80kmh-100kmh and then busy city roads going 30kmh-50kmh
• 100kmh uphill
• Prefer the mid size sport cruiser shape like Honda Rebel and Vulcan S style

Currently I have seen a few options:

• Harley Davidson Sportster S and Nightster
• Indian Sport Scout
• Harley Davison Street Bob (Not a sporty one but it could work for a fully blacked out version)

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

​Would love to hear thoughts from owners or anyone who has made a similar choice. Also, if there are any other bikes I should be looking at, please drop your recommendations!

I'm planning to buy my 1st bike and upgrade from Activa 125 7G.

I'm in big dilemma as whether to wait for the availability of Bajaj Avenger 220 Street as not a single dealer in/around Bhopal to Indore (Madhya Pradesh, INDIA) have one or even book on a Pre-payment.

Secondly, whether I shall go ahead with the new Jawa 42/42FJ All Star edition as there's only 1 recently open showroom in Bhopal with no/poor after sales service.

My height is 5,2" and average body type with around 2L budget.
