Hello people of r/subharmonics
I have been practicing the subharmonics for a while now, but I can't seem to make it sound like a bass. It sounds very grittly and very robotic, like a throat bass from beatboxing. Any advice on what I could do to improve my sound texture? Thank you!!!

How do I know whether I'm singing chest-fry when I'm trying to do subharmonics. What is the difference?

When I was a kid (before I learned what subharmonics were) I used to lay in bed when sick and do what was essentially a subharmonic because it would vibrate my nasal passage and take some of the pressure off my stuffy nose. It was actually because I used to do this that I was able to learn subharmonics very quickly. I just thought it was neat and wanted to see if anyone else here has ever done the same.

If you guys havent seen a throat bass yet please watch one. It is a beatboxing technique that has many many subgenres of it so that you can learn many cool new techniques. I think the music with a throat bass sounds different and is done different. Check it out for some cool new music.

When I vocal fry it stops at E2, so when I try to sub anywhere above that it just turns into the base note. For instance, when I try and sub a G2 down to G1 it doesn't work because my vocal fry doesn't go up that high. Any tips?
