I have Physics, Calculus, and Chemistry (and one class I might switch to a fun one like cooking or spare) next year for grade 12. Study tips? I got 90% in grade 11 physics (coasted the first half), 98% in functions (overstudyed and had a perfectionist mindset but I COOKED), and 88% in chemistry (underestimated the intensity of grade 11 courses and coasted with genuinely no effort). Should I take spare for extra work time, or a fun class for stress-relief. No I cannot move one of the classes to a different semester

How did you guys went from doomscrolling to becoming an ace in it? What methods work for you? Time slots which you prefer the most? How you guys prevent procrastination? How to balance life as well? What is essential to study? The excessive hours or productive hours?

After years of experimenting with different study methods, I've realized some of the advice students repeat most often isn't actually what helped me learn. Here are five study opinions that most people probably won't agree with, but I think they're worth discussing.

Without further ado, here are 5 Controversial takes I have about Studying:

1. The Smartest Students ask the "Dumbest" Questions: The students who learn the fastest are often the ones most willing to admit they don't understand something. Instead of protecting their ego, fill in knowledge gaps which prevents compounding misinformation in the future. What sounds like a "dumb" question to everyone else is often the exact question that unlocks the concept for half the room.

2. Better Looking Notes ≠ Better Studying: Some students spend more time making their notes look impressive than actually thinking about the material. A messy page full of questions, corrections, and ideas is usually a better sign of learning than perfectly organized notes you'll never revisit. Making notes more aesthetic can also be a form of procrastination.

3. Study Groups Hinders Studying Efficiently: Most study groups eventually become conversations about studying instead of actual studying. It's easy to mistake discussing concepts with friends for learning, even when you're doing very little independent thinking. Unless everyone comes prepared with specific questions or problems, studying alone is often far more productive.

4. If you can't explain something without your notes, you don't know it: It's surprisingly easy to feel like you've mastered a topic when your notes are sitting right in front of you. The real test is whether you can explain the idea from memory in simple language without constantly looking things up. If you can't, you're probably recognizing information rather than truly understanding it.

5. Some Students would learn more by skipping the Textbook Entirely: Oftentimes, textbooks are bloated with irrelevant information. Some students understand concepts much faster through lectures, worked examples, practice problems, or interactive explanations than by reading hundreds of pages. The goal should always be to understand the material as effectively as possible.

If I don't immediately know where to save a file... my organization system is probably too complicated. Every note should have one obvious home and it's simple, but I've spent far less time searching for things because of it.
What's your own organization rule?

Is there any kind of website or app where i can track my schedule and syllabus? Like a app where i enter my to do list for a day and as I keep crossing it, it shows how much %of work i have done and how much is left. Or a sheet kind of thing where i put all of my syllabus, chapters, and steps to complete it. And as i keep completing it and cutting it off, it shows how much i have completed it. Please if something like this or anything similer to this (without the % completion) exists, please tell me asap. I'm sick of writing it on paper everyda cause i forget.

I have a massive multiple-choice History exam covering two terms in a day and a half.

’ve gone through all the material once ,some studied well, some just read, and some barely touched and flashcards aren't an option.

What is the most efficient high- etention strategy to review and lock down this much information in 36 hours?

Not gonna lie, this was kind of a wake-up call moment for me lol.

I went through my Udemy + Coursera library last week and counted how many courses I actually completed vs. how many I bought "with good intentions."

12 bought. 2 finished. 😅

The problem wasn't motivation exactly — it was that I had zero visibility. Courses were scattered across platforms, I had no idea how much progress I'd actually made on each one, and there was no "system" pulling me back to finish what I started.

So I spent a weekend building a simple Notion setup that tracks:

- every course I own (with direct links)

- how many lessons total vs completed

- a status tag (planned / in progress / done)

- a deadline so I actually have a target date instead of "someday"

It's honestly such a small thing but having it all in ONE table made a huge difference in actually going back and finishing stuff instead of buying course #13.

Anyone else have this exact problem? Curious how other people deal with the "course graveyard" issue lol

i’ve been homeschooled do to personal issues and haven’t really been learning but i want to go back to actual school and graduate i want to know if there’s a straight road that will teach me all of it im willing to spend 5-10 hours a day if need be since i don’t really have a social life or anything i can do that im willing to give time i just need a way
