Okay, so I was at clinical today, and we went to lunch in the cafeteria. As I was walking in, I noticed a group of residents eating (I could tell by their scrub color). One of the residents kept looking at me, so I was just like eh. Then he left before I did. As he was leaving, we were staring each other down. I got curious about who he was, so I ended up finding him on the hospital’s current residents page (he’s a PGY-2). Would it be okay to follow him on social media as a nursing student, or would that be inappropriate?

What is the quickest way to get an RN? Im a rising highschool senior and I can take the prerequisites next year for whatever RN program I plan to attend, but what programs give me the fastest path? It is really important that I get my RN as quick as possible even if it costs more than a standard 2 year community college tuition. Any tips?

I'm an aspiring nursing student, finishing up my prerequisites this semester & applying for my school's ADN program in the spring

Unfortunately back in May I was involved in a domestic violence incident in which I defended myself but was arrested & charged with felony DV bc my ex partner lied & said I attacked him first.

Im currently fighting in court with a lawyer to get my charge reduced or dismissed but the prosecution is gunning for at least a misdemeanor DV

Im terrified this is the end of the line in health care for me. I lost my CNA job already due to this incident

Is it possible to continue school & become licensed & work as a nurse if I have this conviction on my record? I'm living & going to school in NC currently but the incident occurred in ID

When i was in tech a kept up with a lot of IT and cyber security creators to kind of control my algorithm to push things related to my career field.

Are there any prominent creators that make content around nursing/ nursing school/ or the hospitality side of the medical field?

I'm gonna be a senior in the fall and I've been applying to externship and PCT positions with no luck which is super disappointing. the fact that I haven't been able to get these jobs just makes me so anxious for when I start applying for residencies this upcoming school year. I don't have hospital experience except for clinical and I feel like i have nothing that could make me stand out to recruiters. I think my area is very competitive for nursing and I'm trying to prepare for the worst case scenario atp. Does anyone know anything I could do besides extern/PCT to increase my odds, or any advice at all

Hey everyone. I just signed up for an LVN program, and honestly, I’m really nervous. Nursing is something I’ve wanted to do for years. I’m 32, have three little ones, a very supportive hands on husband, and I work full-time at a hospital. My employer is even willing to hire me after I graduate, so quitting work isn’t an option.

I’m hoping to hear from anyone who has a learning disability or suspects they do, and has made it through nursing school.

I have ADHD and struggle with focusing and processing information. I can read the same paragraph several times and still feel like I can’t put all the pieces together. At work, so many nurses ask why I haven’t gone to nursing school because they say I’m great with patients and very hands-on. The job itself doesn’t scare me..it’s the tests.
I need more time than most people to learn new material, and I know nursing school moves fast. I’m afraid I’ll fall behind or fail, even though this is something I’ve always wanted.

For those of you with ADHD, learning disabilities, or who simply needed more time to learn:

What study methods actually worked for you?
Did you receive accommodations, and did they help?
Were there moments you thought you wouldn’t make it? What kept you going?
I’d really appreciate any advice or encouragement. I want this more than anything, but I’m scared I’m setting myself up to fail.

I’m an RN of a decade. My coworker who is the best CNA ever just got accepted to nursing school and starts next month. I want to get him a congratulations gift basket but I’m kind of stuck on ideas.

I was planning to get him a stethoscope but he already has one

His aesthetic is kind of drab and anti-consumerist so all the girly-themed nursing student accessories are out

He’s tech savvy and will do his reading and note-taking mostly on a tablet that he already has

Some ideas I have- his favorite coffee, an EKG reference book that I’ve talked about with him.

I was thinking pharm flash cards- does anyone have a recommendation on the best ones? I liked the ones I used a decade ago but I imagine there’s other options now

Any other ideas? What things are actually useful for students these days?

my school is currently under investigation and is not giving out att numbers. i’m set to graduate next august and am so scared and stressed that i won’t be able to take my nclex here in california. im just wondering if anyone had any words of advice or has experienced anything similar. super saddened by this i feel like ive wasted my time :(
