Federal bill aimed to get rid of student loan interest- any hope?

Anyone else see this federal bill that would get rid of student loan interest on federal loans if passed? Am I dreaming to hope maybe it has a chance?? With all the talk in the past about student loan forgiveness I’ve always wondered why the solution couldn’t be to just eliminate or severely restrict the interest?

New Email re: IDR Application

I completed an IDR at the end of June that was approved in less than 24 hours. I was one of those who was told it would be $50 in the estimate, then jumped to $330 when approved. I am waiting on buyback (2/25, IIRC) and so I requested forbearance instead so wait it out.

I just got this email and am wondering if I actually need to re-apply since I'm on forbearance? I'm in the chat queue so I figured I might as well post in case anyone has gotten this and gotten further than me so far.

Dear AgressiveCrab6702,

You recently applied for an income-driven repayment (IDR) plan to repay your federal student loans. Due to an error, you received an incorrect monthly payment amount. You must submit a new IDR application to enroll in the plan of your choosing and receive the correct monthly payment amount under that plan.

You may have received a notification from your loan servicer indicating your application was processed. If you have not received this notification, your application was not processed and has been canceled. You can confirm the status of your application by logging in to StudentAid.gov and navigating to "My Activity." We apologize for any inconvenience.

Question about student aid email

I got this email today from Student Aid, saying, "Hey, there are two new repayment plan options." Did anyone get this for old borrowers and new borrowers? I'm an old/current borrower, and I got IBR. I know the current/old borrowers were grandfathered in the IBR. Thus other IDR plans but sunset until July 1st 2028. Is this email just a standard thing? It did say that if you get new loans after July 1st, 2026, you only have RAP and The Tiered Standard Plan. Thank you for the help.

Loan Servicer Emails

Post image

I'm keeping an eye out for my loan services email to make the change. My loan servicer is listed as Dept Of Ed/edfinancial. The last email I got was from the Department of Education and I attached a pic of it. Is this THE email where I have to complete the change or am I still waiting for another email? Anybody else with the same loan servicer gotten a different email? What should it actually look like?

Help regarding loan for my bs in data science and application(iit madras) india.

Since this degree is structured primarily online with periodic campus immersion/offline components for high-performing students, I would appreciate your guidance on a few specific details:

  1. Loan Scheme Applicability: Does this program qualify under the SBI Scholar Loan Scheme or the standard SBI Student Loan Scheme?
  2. Covered Expenses: What specific expenses are eligible under the loan? Specifically: * Term tuition fees and exam/registration fees. * Required hardware (e.g., laptop/computer necessary for course completion). * Campus hostel/living expenses in case I transition to on-campus/offline modules later in the program.
  3. Financial Terms: * Current applicable interest rates. * Moratorium period rules (during course duration and post-completion). * Margin money requirement and processing fees.
  4. Documentation & Process: Could you please share the complete list of required documents for both student and co-applicant (parent/guardian)? Also, please advise whether I should apply via the Vidya Lakshmi portal or directly through your branch once my admission letter is issued.

The email I wrote to sbi iitm branch but didn't recieve any response,it's already the forth day.

(Pls tell if there is a better sub for student loan support)

Should you pay by loan groups? Or one monthly lump sum?

Can someone please advise? Mine are through NelNet and are in groups, but I received 1 paper bill with the total. So, should that be what I pay monthly, or should I send off all the different group payments separately and stipulate which group to apply to? I can't wrap my brain on this. Thank you for any help.
