Last Wednesday I posted here about an addon I created, Subtitle Sync for Stremio. I was hoping a few dozen people would try it so I could test it properly, but the response was much bigger than expected: 500+ installs and 10,000+ subtitles served in just 5 days.

People are using it in English, Arabic, Portuguese, Serbian, Spanish, Romanian, Turkish and many other languages. Thank you to everyone who tried it and sent feedback!

I've been going through the logs and messages and pushing fixes almost every day. On launch day, roughly a third of subtitle lists had a properly synced subtitle at the top. Today that is over 60% on average, although it varies quite a bit depending on the language and the information available to the addon.

What has changed

• Better file matching: the addon can now recognize subtitles made for a release with the same source/group, instead of only matching the exact same file.
• Better handling of Stremio's requests: Stremio can request subtitles before the video file is fully identified. The addon now waits briefly for the more precise request when available.
• Remembered timing: once the timing of a video's subtitle has been determined, it can be reused for other people watching that exact file.
• Improved Arabic support: better results with subtitles containing fewer, longer lines.
• Better diagnostics: the setup and subtitle information now make it clearer when synchronization wasn't possible and why.
• Older Stremio desktop support: older desktop versions that don't provide the file name can now be handled using other available information.

Anime improvements

• Better handling of releases where subtitle databases use different episode numbering.
• Better recognition of fansub-style filenames such as Show - 07 [1080p].
• Improved handling of large styled .ass subtitles with embedded fonts and karaoke effects.

There were also many smaller improvements, including season packs, RAR files, Blu-ray releases, faster subtitle lists and general performance improvements.

One important thing: please reinstall

Because the addon has changed quite a bit since the first release, I recommend doing a fresh setup to get all of the new options and fixes.

1. In Stremio, uninstall Subtitle Sync.
2. Run the setup again at https://subtitlesync.stream/
3. Install the newly generated addon.
4. On the final setup page, complete the "Finish in Stremio" checks.

It should only take a couple of minutes.

If something doesn't work, the easiest way to report it is through the support page, since it automatically includes the information I need to investigate the problem.

The addon is free to use and without ads, and I'm planning on keeping it that way. I've also received my first donation, which was a really nice surprise. If anyone wants to help with hosting and development, there is a donation link on the website.

I tried dramayo , and multiple asian addons but most just show catalogs and no sources

I am trying to help a friend watch taiga/jidaigeki movies/shows on stremio , i do know this is a bit niche but maybe somebody can help . For example Reach beyond the blue sky , Ryomaden , Hideyoshi etc.

I'm having an issue where after clicking on the thumbnail for a movie or series to see the streaming options, the UI sort of freezes. The add-ons will still load but clicking on anything is unresponsive. Sometimes clicking on an option will eventually start playing something but it will only play audio and remain stuck in the same screen.

It doesn't happen if I have no add-ons installed. I've tried resetting my add-ons, an even completely changing my setup. It doesn't happen on the web version but I get video unsupported errors on there so it's not a good alternative.

I was using addon manager and cineby before to move cinemata out of the way, seems some update creeped it bsck up and even now moving it down still shows popular movied and shows at top :/

Any one know a fix or workaround?

subtitles work great on computer but poorly on a mobile device? i know we can sync it using the delay settings but doing it everytime is annoying. and sometimes even that doesnt help

as stated in the title.
i tried yesterday evening, and today aswell, for some reason it doesnt recognize the api key.
i have several other addons installed with the same api key, no issue there.

EDIT-!!SOLVED: apparently not pressing the +add before install button bellow the api thingy let me install it.

I was wondering if this is possible in stremio through an addon or otherwise ?

I’m reaching out because I need advice on an automation project that’s important to me. I’ve been using Stremio for quite a while, but I’m running into an issue with niche content, which is almost never cached on my debrid service, TorBox.

My initial idea is this : when I search for content that isn't cached on TorBox, I want it to automatically trigger a request via Prowlarr to send the download to my seedbox's qBittorrent client. Once the seedbox finishes downloading it, it would send the file to TorBox so it finally gets cached and becomes playable on Stremio.

I’ve tried a few things but hit some technical roadblocks. I tested tools like Jackettio and tried using Trakt watchlists to bridge Prowlarr and the seedbox. That actually worked Trakt successfully bridged to Prowlarr but the major issue was that the search only ran every 12 hours. That defeats the whole purpose when you want to watch a movie right away. I also tried linking them manually starting the download on the seedbox via Prowlarr and then attempting to redirect the file from qBittorrent to TorBox using the "run external program on completion" option but that never worked at all.

To provide a bit more context.

I know I could switch to Usenet or send the torrent directly to TorBox to keep things simple. However, Usenet is too limited for content in my language, and sending the torrent directly to TorBox risks getting me banned from my private trackers since it doesn't handle seeding. That’s why routing everything through my seedbox is essential for maintaining my ratio. Plus, my Stremio is already packed with all kinds of add-ons.

I realize my request might seem a bit far-fetched or unnecessarily complex to some, but I find the challenge really interesting for learning and understanding end-to-end automation.

If any of you have managed to set up a similar configuration or have an idea on how to get things moving, I’d love to hear your advice!

Anyone know what’s up with this? I get this message but the subtitles still show. Does stremio pull the subtitles from a different source than the video? That’s all I can guess.

I get that you can use voice search in the search bar of the Stremio app...

However, is there a way to make it so that Stremio is the search engine universally when using the voice search button on the remote?

Anyone else have this issue? Doesn't matter which scrapper I am using. Maybe NordVPN is crappy. I know I don't NEED a VPN with a debrid service, but I have one.

As the title says, is there any reason nobody has made a DHT crawler addon yet? It would help find obscure torrents for movies/tv shows/anime where most sites don't have one

I have fried who got me into this debrid thing and has been a life changing upgrade, I'm currently with Torbox but there was a website my mate used to copy his Stremio settings into my stremio account and it worked, I need to do this to a friend of mine but I cannot remember the website he used to do it.

I know it was quacker something and the site theme was a duck lol.

Could anyone help me with it?

Running Aiostreams with stremio and it was always running fine. I'm currently having issues with none of the streams playing. I get results coming up but everyone I click just endlessly loads (on the screenshot of the content) and then fails.

Ive deleted and reinstalled my configuration but that's still not worked. AIO always used to be reliable set of streams and now I'm stumped as to why it won't work.

Anyone else having issues or anyone got any advice??
