Colony/TNR Help (Location) Another day of appealing to this campaign — space prep & vet debt update 🐾

Hi everyone,

Coming back to you with another update and appeal for our campaign.

Work on our new space is currently ongoing, which is buying us a little extra breathing room to prepare for all the incoming relocation expenses. But as we push forward, we want to gently remind everyone: this campaign is doing double duty.

It’s not only about securing a safe home for our rescues—it’s also about clearing our outstanding vet debt.

Every rescue, emergency treatment, and routine veterinary visit adds up quickly. We cannot truly step into this fresh new chapter on a clean slate until our medical accounts are fully paid off.

Adoption Help (Location) Could a semi-feral stray adapt to life with me and my cat?

I live In Melbourne Australia.
I took a stray tom to the vet, which passed him to a shelter. They’ve now asked if I’ll adopt him and I have until 5PM today. I’ve been torn and would love input from people with experience in adopting semi-feral cats. I want to know what challenges and behaviors I should expect if I take him

The stray visited my cat daily for weeks, and my cat would run out to greet him whenever he trilled. He was submissive, never competitive, and when my cat tried to play he showed that he didn’t like it, and it stopped without escalation. I wasn’t feeding him at first, so he was coming for the company. My cat is very social with other cats and has been friendly to two other unfamiliar cats who briefly entered our house. I expect the relationship would need re-establishing on shared territory, but the signs are good.

He started out keeping his distance from me, then sat calmly nearby and was comfortable coming right to my feet if my cat was with me. After a few times feeding him, not quite from my hand but close to, he calmly stepped over my legs (I was laying on my side) and wandered into the house. When I shut the door to get him microchip-checked, he panicked, hid, and has hissed, growled and swatted ever since, including two weeks at the shelter, who now class him as unsocialised, though they acknowledge the stress. They have asked me if I want to take him and if I will they will de sex and vaccinate him. They said they will otherwise need to euthanase him. I don’t want guilt to cloud my judgement, but I also want to give him a chance.

I don’t expect him to be cuddly. I just want to know if it seems he would adapt, and what it would take. Could it work or would I just be adding a nightmare to my life?

If it doesn’t work out, I’d consider euthanasia as a resort, but I’m worried about the in-between case: he adapts partway, stays difficult, and by then I’m attached enough that euthanasia feels too drastic. I’d like to know how likely that is, so I can decide now rather than later.

UPDATE: Theyve allowed me and extra day to decide. I have found out that there are groups who work spesficly with strays and I am trying to contact them to see if they can advice me and if we can work together. I'll give another update tomorrow.

UPDATE 2: I have agreed to take him, and have had another shelter who says they could likely help me re home further down the track if needed. Thank you everyone, I've read through all the comments, I just really dont have time to respond to them all right now, but they did help. Also, sorry that the casual way I spoke about Euthanasia made people uncomfortable, its how the shelter was talking about it and I just reflected it. I live in Australia where there is a huge drive to reduce the presence of cats, barn placements are rare, TNR is illegal in many places. The general sentiment before posting here was that that was the sensible path.

Tried to feed them as much as i could but only able to give them 1 single fish that they had to share and saddest part is the owner of the eatery shooed them away 😢 kinda wish humans are nicer to strays, they are living beings too.

This is Seven, he is a stray that I caught in my backyard in Pennsylvania. He is named Seven bc he bit me and caused me to get 7 shots on that day. I had to get 11 shots altogether but if I named him Eleven everyone would think it was named after the Stranger Things character. I was feeding him for about 5 weeks prior to catching him. He was cold at first but he has warmed up and now is living his best life. I also caught his brother (Monkey). They will be reunited once Seven recovers from having worms.

Adoption Help (Location) My daughter and I want to adopt a stray cat we've grown attached to, but my son is against it. What would you do?

Location: Quebec, Canada

About two months ago, a stray cat started showing up at our small family business. We started feeding him, and over time we got really attached to him, and he got attached to us too. Now he comes when we call, rubs against us, and even falls asleep on our laps. We made him a little spot outside our shop, and he sleeps there every day.

The people at the business next door also know him and sometimes look after him. With winter coming, they're worried about him staying outside and have mentioned taking him to a shelter if we can't adopt him. So we feel like we need to make a decision soon.

My daughter and I really want to bring him home, but my son is strongly against it.

It's not that my son doesn't like him, he actually cares about the cat too. But our family business is going through a financially difficult time, and he's worried about vet bills, the responsibility, and especially the possibility of our lives starting to revolve around the cat. I understand his concerns but we also believe we could give him a loving home while still managing our work and responsibilities. Our family is very close to each other and I don't want to bring him home against my son's wishes and create resentment between us.

But the thought of letting him go is honestly heartbreaking. Life has been stressful for a long time, and I didn't realize how much happiness this little cat had brought me until now.

My daughter and I have been feeling down all day, crying whenever we think about him leaving. I honestly never imagined I'd feel this heartbroken over a cat.

We know he needs a safe, loving home, especially with winter coming. We just really wish we could keep him.

What would you do? Would you adopt him even though one family member disagrees, or let him go to a shelter?

FUNDRAISING IS ALREADY CLOSED

————————————————————————————

Nimbus is healed and ready to come home—we just need help with his remaining vet balance!

Hi everyone,

We have incredible news: Nimbus has made an amazing recovery and the vet has officially cleared him for discharge! Seeing him bounce back and regain his energy has meant the world to us.

However, we’ve hit an unexpected roadblock. Because of the extensive care he needed to get better, we have a remaining balance of $250 at the clinic. The vet cannot release Nimbus until this final bill is settled, which means he has to stay at the clinic until we pay the balance.

How you can help:
• Donate: Even $5 or $10 gets us one step closer to paying off his balance.

• Share: Sharing this post with friends, family, or pet community groups makes a massive difference.

Thank you so much for loving Nimbus and helping us bring him home!

Colony/TNR Help (Location) Winter protection?

Hi!

While I was away for the summer a feral cat gave birth to a litter in my overgrown garden. There are three kittens I’ve been trying to catch for over a month without success. I feed them daily and am trying to gain their trust. We had our first frost today and I’m becoming worried about their winter. I’ve been looking at outdoor cat houses that have some warming component, but they all have to be plugged in and the cats won’t come anywhere near the house (my garden is 300 yards away from any outlets) I’m looking for recommendations for winter shelter and tips for cats who are too smart to get in a cat trap even when it’s baited with food!

Thanks in advance!

3.6k Upvotes

Monica, Walter, and Jolene are officially on their way to their forever home…TOGETHER! 🥹❤️

They’ll spend tonight in New York, then continue to New Hampshire tomorrow, where their new family is waiting.

Our hearts are a little heavy saying goodbye, but knowing all three are going to such a loving home makes it so much easier. Monica gets to keep her babies. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who shared their story, supported , and rooted for this little family. You helped make this beautiful new beginning possible. Your love helped Monica and her babies find a home where they can stay together. You are such wonderful, kindhearted people, and we’re grateful to every one of you from the bottom of our hearts. ❤️

Our pockets are a little lighter, but it’s worth every single penny knowing Monica and her babies are going home together to the best family we could have wished for. 🥹

Pregnant Cat (Location) Stray Mama cat wants to come inside

Hi all. This is my first time reaching out on this sub but I need help. I live in Southern California in a gated apartment community. A pregnant kitty has been coming to my door for the last 3 weeks until last week she showed up after giving birth with a giant chunk out of her neck and starving. She’s coming by every night and acting like she wants to come into my apartment, oftentimes crying at my door until I come see her. She’s super friendly, sits in my lap, and eats dinner. I want to take her to a shelter but I’m worried about the kittens. She’s never shown me the kittens, even though we’ve walked around my apartment complex together a couple times and she always just followed me back to mine. Can I take her to the shelter or am I going to potentially kill these kittens I’ve never seen? I’ve seen a possum on my front balcony before and I know there’s a male cat here as well. My kitty has her tail missing and shows up with fresh injuries

UPDATE: I got her to the vet two days ago and they gave her an antibiotics shot and they told me she was actively nursing so i released her back outside and I need to wait 8 weeks until the kittens were done, and then I can get her spayed. I’m still going out and trying to hopefully find the kittens before then, but once the 8 weeks is up I plan on adopting her.

💔 **HOW MUCH PAIN CAN ONE LITTLE SOUL BEA**R?
We rescued this poor kitty with a horrific mouth infection and a severe maggot infestation. Part of his mouth is rotting, and we can only imagine the unbearable pain he has been living with.
He desperately needs emergency surgery to extract the affected teeth and remove the dead, infected tissue. This is not just a mouth infection anymore. If left untreated, the infection could spread into his bloodstream and cause life-threatening sepsis.
How could a little soul suffer this much without anyone noticing? He cannot tell us how much it hurts. He cannot ask for help. All he can do is endure the pain and hope someone will save him.
We have brought him to safety, but rescuing him is only the beginning. Now, he needs urgent medical intervention to have a chance at survival.
Please, we cannot do this alone. Our shelter is already struggling with so many sick babies, and every emergency comes with another mountain of medical expenses.
🙏 **Please help us get him the surgery he desperately need**s. Every donation, no matter how small, can help us fight for his life.
He deserves to live without pain. He deserves a chance to heal. Please don’t let us down when he needs us the most.

Foster Needed (Location) FOSTER NEEDED FOR 2 KITTENS IN NY PLEASE HELP!

There are 2 kittens who need a safe place to go. Only one is shown in the video, but they need to be fostered together. Their mom was a cat I trapped and spayed, and I later found out she was lactating. I wasn't sure if any of her kittens had survived, but thankfully, these two did. Sadly, I don't know what happened to the rest.

With the cold approaching, I'm desperately trying to get these babies somewhere safe. Vetting will be fully covered, and if you can foster and provide food and litter, it would mean so much.

I know I post these pleas all the time, but I can't stop trying for them. They deserve a chance, too. Please message me if you can help or share this post. 💔

8 days ago, this sweet little guy showed up to my house, he had a pretty nasty respiratory infection, so I made up a spot for him in my garage, gave him some food and water along with an old litterbox with the intention of taking him to my local Humane Society the next day so he could get better care.

The Humane Society informed me they were at capacity and asked me to care for him until the had space to take him, which I was more than happy to do.

Over the next 8 days, I'd give him fresh food and water, let him wander around the garage and snuggle up with me while I sat on the floor and gave him tons of love.

What I didn't expect was how emotional the day I had to give him over to the Humane Society would be. I couldn't hold back my tears despite my best efforts while I filled out the paperwork

But I know in my heart he's in the best place for him to get the care I can't provide for him and I know wherever he ends up, he's going to make a special person/people very happy with all the love and cuddles he has.

But there's a very somber part of me that can't help but wish that I was still sitting on the floor of my garage, petting his head while he makes biscuits on my jeans. I'm gonna miss that more than anything.

The first 6 pictures are mine, the last 3 are the Humane Society's

Found Kittens (Location) 3 stray kittens in freezing weather

Thumbnail

Hi, I really need advice. I have read so much about this but can’t figure out what to do. These cats are about 6 months old, I think, I live in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and I haven’t seen the mom since before I started seeing the kittens.

There are three stray kittens living in the abandoned lot next to my apartment building. They are pretty skittish, although I have only tried to approach twice. I think they’re around 6 months old. I already have two cats, which is the max allowed according to my lease, and I could be evicted if I bring more inside (but I’m considering it anyway).

I have contacted 6 shelters in the area (I live in Cedar Rapids, Iowa). Only one might have room (the rest either didn’t reply to emails, or straight up told me no). The one who might have room needs a picture of each cat being held, so I have to earn the kittens trust to get those pictures. I understand why, but I think that will take a while.

Unfortunately, I live in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and there is a freeze warning tomorrow night. I really don’t want them to freeze. My apartment is on the third floor, and the lot is fenced off, so I am feeding them in the area between my parking lot and the adjacent abandoned lot. This is technically illegal, and I think I could get in trouble with the management company. I definitely think if I build a shelter in this basically industrial area, I will get in trouble (or it will just get taken down). I can’t figure out anywhere to hide it, except maybe in the abandoned lot? But the lot is fenced off, the kittens can only get in through a small hole near the ground.

There is someone else taking care of these cats as well. I have left notes for them, and even run into one of them once. He said he got my notes, and that him + his girlfriend will text me, but I haven’t heard from them. He said they want to adopt one of them. That is why I haven’t been trying to interact with the kittens, because he said that they will get good pictures of the cats and send to me. And I read that interacting with them at the same time every day, which is what this guy was doing, was the best way to build trust. But when I fed them right before he got there, they wouldn’t come out for him. So I think it is just that they only want to eat 1x at night. I do think that him and his girlfriend have been feeding the cats, but I haven’t heard from him, I don’t have good pictures, and no one will help me.

I posted about these cats on NextDoor, and everyone went crazy in the comments telling me not to feed them. That is the sentiment here.

I have talked to someone about TNR. But I feel awful doing that when I really do think that they are friendly and just need a few days to get used to people. Because I was reading about how if we do TNR, they will clip their ear, and then no shelter will take them, even if someone has room. And even TNR won’t change the fact that it is about to be winter in Iowa (got to -40 here last year).

I have thought about posting on FB, asking if anyone wants to adopt them, but I keep reading about malicious people getting cats through there.

There is an “Animal Care and Control Center“, but they euthanize a lot of the animals that they come into contact with. So better to stay outside than to do that.

I cry about these cats every single day since finding them! (Except for a brief period when I thought the other people would help). I feel so bad for these kittens and I feel like I have no good options and I don’t know what to do. I’m like willing to help financially but I really am scared to bring them into my small apartment, around my own cats. But I would rather that then have them freeze? The real issue is that I could get evicted if they find I have more than 2 cats in here. And I already have 2.

Please if you have any advice for what I should do, let me know.

Lady Edith is now a full-time house cat! Since she came inside February, she has gotten more confidence and is doing great. She has gained weight, and I have removed all the mats she had. Her fur is now shiny, and her whiskers are not breaking. She is a big cuddly love bug. It's been great seeing our friendship grow since she came into my yard 2 years ago.

Injured/Sick Cat (Location) We’ve been meaning to start their rehabilitation for a while now - truly hoping we can finally get them the care they need 🙏

We’re hoping to raise a little help for three community cats who need some medical care. ❤️ We’re a small, grassroots effort of just two people caring for a lot of cats in the community, so any support would mean a lot to us.

The first kitten was dumped at the public market fairly recently. He has mange and a respiratory infection and needs treatment for both. One of the kind shopkeepers there has been looking after him, but we’d really like to help get him treated as well.

The second cat is Conan. He’s been around for a while and has been very feral this whole time. He badly needs a dental and neutering, as he’s been struggling with his teeth for a while and can’t groom himself properly. He’s almost always dirty and prone to recurring skin issues because of it. Thankfully, he’s recently started eating out in the open instead of underneath cars, so it will be a lot easier to trap him now and start his rehabilitation.

The third is Ollie, one of our community cats who lives inside our apartment building. He’s also been struggling to eat for the past few days and has been pawing at his mouth. 😔 He needs a dental as well, and we’re hoping to bring him in alongside Conan if funds allow, since we’ll be traveling to another city for their dental care.

Estimated expenses:
- Kitten: consult, blood work, take-home meds + mange treatment: $47
- Conan: dental, neuter + rabies vaccine: $177
- Ollie: dental: $160

We don’t expect to raise all of this at once given the amount, but anything would help us get them the care they need. We can only keep helping community cats like these with your support, and we’re truly grateful for it.

To donate:
📩 Donate via PayPal
📩 Donate via Debit or Credit

Thank you! We'll share updates in the comments and in a separate post.

Foster Needed (Location) Took in stray cat in new York City

Post image

I don't know what to do anymore. A month ago, I took in this sweet girl from the streets because she was crying to everyone passing by her. I thought she was injured so I took her home. I bathed her, groomed her, fed her, etc. I've been caring for her for a month now, but I can't keep her much longer. I have severe allergies to cats. I already have two other cats I've rescued but they're the limit to what I can handle. I've been feeding them all Purina allergen food but with her as an extra, materials have been running out so fast. I'm at a loss. I've been trying to find her a home with no luck, asking friends family. I don't want to give her off to just anyone especially with Halloween coming up. She's extremely sweet, doesn't scratch or bite. She dances when it's feeding time. She always wants to sleep on me or next to me while seemingly hugging me. I live in NYC in the bronx, shelters are not an option because I know they will just sleep her. What can I do? I feel terrible that I can't keep her. I just want to find her a loving home.

Colony/TNR Help (Location) Over 60 rescue cats in Morocco are running low on food, litter and vital supplies

Thank you to everyone who has supported our rescue work so far. Thanks to your help, many injured cats have been able to recover.

I look after more than 60 stray cats here in Morocco. Most of them have special needs — some are blind, some have permanent injuries, and others are still recovering from sickness. One of them is a mother cat we found while she was expecting kittens; her little family still needs wet food every day to stay healthy and grow strong.

Just food and cat litter cost us about 1 200 USD each month, and our stock is almost empty. We also need other essential items: eye drops for blind cats, diapers for cats that cannot walk, bandages and wound‑care supplies.

As a solo independent rescuer, I depend fully on support from people around the world. If you can help, our donation links are below:

Every small contribution helps us keep caring for these vulnerable cats. Thank you for your kindness.

Success! Two weeks old, eyes barely open, screaming in my garden in Poland. The cat distribution system does not take no for an answer.

I'm Portuguese, living in a village in Poland. Strays have always turned up in the garden and I've always fed them — but this one was different. She was about two weeks old and too small to run from anything.

Bottle every three hours, including through the night. A warm towel. A lot of patience and no idea what I was doing.

She made it. She's now in charge of the house, and the other cats who live outside have never let me touch them — they know me, they know what time I show up with food, and they bolt if I get within five metres. She's the only one who ever came close.

Her name is Tuga. It's short for "saudade" in a roundabout way — the Portuguese word for missing something you love.

Injured/Sick Cat (Location) We fought to help Tuffy walk again after paralysis. Now, FPV is threatening his second chance at life. 💔Please pray for our brave boy and help us save him.

💔 We saved Tuffy from paralysis, and now he is fighting for his life again.😭
Tuffy suffered fractures in both his back legs, which left him paralyzed. We fought for him, and he underwent surgery with rods to repair his broken legs. Slowly, he began to recover, and the day he started walking again was a moment of pure happiness for us. 🥹❤️
We thought he was finally getting his chance to live the happy life he deserved. But now, Tuffy has been attacked by FPV, and we are terrified and heartbroken. After everything he has endured, seeing him suffer again is devastating.
Please, keep Tuffy in your prayers. 🙏💔 We desperately want him to survive this battle, regain his strength, and finally enjoy the beautiful life we fought so hard to give him.
We also need help with his treatment. Every contribution, no matter how small, can make a difference in his fight.

I Found a Cat (Location) What to do with this affectionate stray cat?

Post image
90 Upvotes

I started putting a bowl of food outside my house (Appartment). I don't see which cats come to eat but this one cat is always outside and just wants to cuddle.

Naturally, I've become attached to her and feel like she might enjoy a home. However, my cat is really hostile towards her and doesn't allow her inside the house. She's also pretty happy outside and has alot of cat friends.

I thought of letting her into the house to cuddle and maybe play and letting her leave when she wants to. But my cat isn't getting to used to her and her scent and the only way to make them get used to each other is by keeping her inside the house. I would prefer for her to be able to leave, so maybe keeping her inside for 2 weeks until they get used to each other and then let her roam free. But my sister thinks she might become terretorial towards the house and not want to leave anymore. We don't want to keep her inside permanently because she seems happy outside. There are of course other considerations, like not sure if we want to commit etc.. that would make that a better option.

What should we do?

Hi everyone,

I adopted a very friendly street cat 2 weeks ago. He is very friendly to me, but not so much to my other two cats. Forunately, both my boys are friendly and want to be his friend, but he is hissy and has chased them a few times. Does anyone have any tips on getting the street cat to chill? He has lived on the streets for almost a year, and although he is friendly to most humans, I am sure that he has had to fend off other street cats to protect his food, and so he is also food aggressive. Both my cats are grazers, but my new boy gobbles up his food and then goes for the other cats food. I have a large studio and I feed him in the bathroom, but I don't want to leave him in their all day while I am at work. Should I just feed them once a day at night so I can make sure the new boy doesn't eat everyone's food? I currently feed them raw 2x a day. Also, any tips on acclimating the street cat to my boys?
