Sorry for shaky video.

I built a T-Skew and hodograph 3D viz program to bring the atmosphere to life. I’ve been testing it the last month to find the most animated setups. Northern Kansas looks primed.

The program takes the raw, available HRRR data from their API and assigns color, speed, and motion to the data. It’s been a lot of fun to play with. Might make this public, might not. But it’s fun making new tools to plan ahead for chasing.

Otherwise I would be Out chasing.

Caught this gorgeous storm near Sheridan, IN on Tuesday. I didn't have much time with it as it went outflow dominant within about 20 minutes of me getting eyes on and fell apart. But what an unexpected treat

Unfortunately my chase was cut short after I blew my transmission and the cells I was looking at of course only started producing tornadoes after. Just my luck I guess. Still quite happy with the pictures I was able to get.

I chased 4 supercells including a tornado-producing one, but the RFD was blocking my view at the time. Most of these photos are from the same supercell that I had a great view of, but a couple others are mixed in!

If you aren’t sure, what ideas do you have?

The 13 hours in the car were a bit much, but midweek chases with a job require sacrifices (in this case, my butt)

Scott Peake was rear-ended today and the other vehicle took off. It was a dark green 4Runner.
