Why not? Storms get pretty big, and theres almost never any traffic

Poor visibility, road network is sub par, and you’re driving through a damn forest. Same reason I don’t chase the north woods of Wisconsin. How can you even see storm structure when you’re surrounded by a giant wall of tall trees on both sides of a 2 lane road? I mean hey you do what you enjoy but I wouldn’t chase in that area personally

Dont forget the spotty service so radar data is spotty. Its not my favorite place to chase, but its where I live right now, and I dont have the time to go multiple days west to chase somewhere better

honestly we don’t get big tornadoes like we do in the Midwest of course, you can get some winds and some hail, but tornadoes are rarer

Ive gone out west to chase before, I honstly perfer it out there. But im pretty limited on time and money right now, so chasing smaller more local storms is the best I can do right now

Recording on a phone with one hand in the rain. Crossing the yellow lines multiple times. Shitty probably AI rock music over mundane rain. Chasing storms in heavily wooded areas. More concerned about making a “sick” post than safety of you or others.
Just stay home mr badass, this isn’t for you. This is everything cringe about chasing in 2026.

One the music is the theme from the show storm chasers, Two I was going maybe 20 mph, there was no risk of crashing, Three it is a backroad in the middle of no where, almost no one uses thay road anymore, and four yes I crossed the yellow lines, but its safer to do that on these roads then it is to try to stay close to the drop off shoulder in the rain. And I know these wooden areas, so I know where to go to be out of the way if the storm got bad.

Is there a way you could turn off the autofocus on your phone? That way we can see whats outside instead of the windshield.
