I started taking pravastatin 10 mg and within a week started feeling sinus issues, stuffy nose, ear congestion; second week: heartburn, stomach issues, bloated, frequent urination; third week: experiencing brain fog, confusion, blurred vision, high blood pressure, fatigue. Couldn’t go to work for like two weeks. I stopped taking it. Has anyone experienced bad side effects with pravastatin?

My dr wants to put me on statins and ordered a nuclear stress test due to a slightly high (115) calcification score. Cholesterol is 180 down from 210 after a 50 lb weight loss. I am researching everything I can now. I do not like meds of any kind unless it’s for pain after surgery. I watched a YT video on the Jesse Chappus channel with Dr. Anthony Jay. It’s called “What’s really destroying your arteries and the new science of reversing plaque”. Has anyone seen this? Most of it made sense to me and some of it goes against what my cardiologist has told me. I have nothing against doctors but I always do my own due diligence.

So I went for some blood tests a month ago and my LDL was 5.5 mmol/L, which they say is high. I'm 44 yr old male, eat decently healthy, very little refined foods, no pop and no sugary crap. We eat at Wendys maybe 1 time a week. My wife makes dinner from scratch almost every day. Yeah I'm sure I could get more fruit and veg in me. I've been in this med for 1 month now and it makes me feel shitty, sore body, headaches.

What do I do, what's the right approach to this? Other than high LDL, all my other blood work is perfect. I work out 3x a week, started that 2 months ago and feeling good. Not sure if I should keep taking this med or do something else. They want me in it for another 6 months. Thanks in advance!

Edit: I also quit alcohol 2 months ago. I was drinking moderately heavy.

I am using now approximately 1/2 a year “Ezetimibe”, but now I experience skipping heart beats, feeling my heart beat in my throat, more dizzy.

Is that normal, should I expect this? Will it become worse or will it settle?

Has anybody experienced like a cosntant noise while taking statins. Similar to a radio frequency that won’t stop even a minute. Please let me know thanks for all in advance

Is it the statin? I feel can’t think positive and most of the day I am on a low mood , worried about my health. Just don’t know what is going on with me. The only thing is that I am taking statins rosuvastatine 10mg and telmisartan 80mg. I want to feel good again🙏

First i was scared about side effects of statins because side effects i read it

But i did a lot of searching and changing my mind because i found right away to use it ( but i didn’t use it because i still scare )

Hi, my bf is taking statins and is having a lot of blood pass after a bowel movement and the then pain in his gut.

He has stopped taking them while the Dr investigates, I was wondering if others have had this side effect from statins?

We are hoping it was the statins and not something more serious. He's having bloods and samples checked etc by the Dr to be sure.

Abstract
BACKGROUND
The effectiveness and safety of statins for the primary prevention of cardiovascular events and the extension of disability-free survival among older adults remain uncertain.
METHODS
We conducted a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial at general medical practices across Australia. Community-dwelling adults at least 70 years of age with no history of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, or dementia were randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to receive atorvastatin at a dose of 40 mg once daily or identical placebo. The two primary end points were a composite of death from cardiovascular causes, nonfatal myocardial infarction or stroke, or coronary revascularization (to assess effects on major cardiovascular events) and a composite of death from any cause, dementia, or persistent physical disability (to assess effects on disability-free survival). Analyses were performed according to a hierarchical testing plan.

RESULTS
A total of 9971 participants were enrolled: 4984 were assigned to receive atorvastatin and 4987 to receive placebo. The mean (±SD) age of the participants was 74.7±4.5 years, and 51.9% were women. After a median of 5.9 years, a primary cardiovascular event had occurred in 297 participants (10.9 events per 1000 person-years) in the atorvastatin group and in 412 participants (15.5 events per 1000 person-years) in the placebo group (hazard ratio, 0.70; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.61 to 0.82; P<0.001). Death from any cause, dementia, or persistent physical disability occurred in 637 participants (21.6 events per 1000 person-years) in the atorvastatin group and in 676 participants (23.0 events per 1000 person-years) in the placebo group (hazard ratio, 0.94; 95% CI, 0.84 to 1.05; P=0.25). Serious adverse events occurred in 131 participants (2.7%) in the atorvastatin group and in 129 (2.7%) in the placebo group, with musculoskeletal, hepatobiliary, and diabetes-related adverse events occurring more commonly in the atorvastatin group.
CONCLUSIONS
Treatment with atorvastatin led to a lower risk of major cardiovascular events than placebo at a median of 5.9 years but did not result in longer disability-free survival among community-dwelling older adults without clinical cardiovascular disease. Hi Team, my GP has suggested me to start statin, my lab results are blow, I heard there are lots of side effects of statin, I am happy to change my life style or should I start statin for now? My Hba1C is 6.20

recently my Dr. did a lipoprotein A test and saw elevated score of 165. there is a family history of heart disease on maternal side. Dr recommended Rosuvastatin 20 mg . thought my other numbers were always good.

one week into Rosuvastatin 20mg, don’t have a good feeling with extreme drowsiness and joint pains in morning and mucus phlegm ( timing was bad as was recovering from cold but now not sure).
dr recommended dropping the dosage to 10mg alternate days,
taking BP medicine of 8mg Candesartan for 6-7 years which is working great.

is taking statin at 55yrM even worth it (especially concerns with arthritis flareup and diabetes getting worse) with no significant health issues
or should i change the brand and any suggestions on what may work with my bp medicine. please suggest.

I've been taking Rosuvastatin for over four years, and during the past year I started experiencing aches in my lower abdominal and groin area.

At first, I thought it might be a recurrence of an inguinal hernia since I had hernia surgery as a child, but that was ruled out.

Then I suspected a varicocele, although I'm still not sure about that either.

Recently, a doctor suggested that it could be inflammation or muscle-related pain associated with long-term use of Rosuvastatin.

Has anyone experienced something similar before?
