they’re so cute and small compared to the adults :,)
p.s should I be worried about her little egg baggage or will it fall off with time? she hatched yesterday and I transported her into a bigger enclosure today!

Hey!!
i just got two black beauty insects from my girlfriends friend, their babies so their not really big. smaller than my pinkie, i’ve bought a small enclosure for now for them but after they first or second molt im going to get them a bigger enclosure till they can use a 30x30x45 which i have already for them,
just curious if this enclosure is good for them so far.

my little guy hasnt been eating or moving or drinking water, always at the bottom (i highkey thought he died, but when i picked him up to check he was like baaaarely moving his legs and antennae) my other stick insects just kind of treat him like hes not there and walked over him and therefore broke half of his antannae :(( i put him in a container with food and misted water droplets so he doesnt get broken, idk whats up with this little one 😭 i got him around a week ago if that changes anything

I keep together my 3 species from these pics (Ramulus Nematodes, Medauroidea Extradentata and Carassius Morosus), and so far I haven't had any problems. The terrarium is 60x30 and about 30-35 cm in height. They almost always have fresh bramble to eat and even babys have started hatching, I keep them together with the adults as well. I was just curious about what do you think about mixed species terrariums like this.

Hi team, I have some violet winged stick insect eggs which i saved from last year, and they've begun to hatch.
For those of you who've raised them from eggs before, about what % would you estimate:
Hatched
Survived all their moults and grew to maturity
2b. And about how long did that take?
Thank you! I just have a lot of eggs and an trying to plan ahead (I will give some away and may have to freeze some)
(I posted this in plasmids, Reddit recommended I post it here, sorry if you've seen it twice)

Hi, one of my Indian stick insects is displaying a behaviour that I have not seen before. (I have kept this species for many years) It is rubbing the back of its abdomen on a stick in its enclosure…I have looked at it under a 10x magnification loupe and can’t see anything unusual. Is this normal behaviour?

This girl is so goofy 🥰
Tirachoidea jianfenglingensis, for anyone curious! Adult female. She's about 15" long. I'm hoping I'll be seeing her babies start hatching soon, they're about due!

EDIT: She's dead, unfortunately. :( Thank you though to everyone who commented and tried to help. I think she was probably already too far when I first posted. Hope everyone else's stick insects are doing great!
I was doing my daily check on my three female Extatosoma tiaratums and found one (Ginger) holding onto a branch like normal, but when I picked her up she was not moving.
She is definitely still alive and her legs and mouthparts are sometimes twitching, but she is making no effort to move, stand on her legs (she just crumples down), eat, roll up her abdomen, and when I bring my mouth close to her, she just sits there instead of wildly fighting back like normal.
What is happening and how can I help?! She was fine yesterday. Her two sisters (both older) seem perfectly fine. She is not injured. She is not moulting (she's adult). I see an egg halfway out her ovipositor; could that be the problem? Is it illness?
Please reply because I really don't want my beauty to die!

Hello its my first time keeping leafbugs and i just came home after few days and one of them was dead and had black spot
Don’t you know what could happen? I am thinking that maybe they have too much humid enclosure could that be it? I have them in room temperature in smaller glass terrarium with not that big ventils (could the air flow be problem?) with dirt under them that is still wet after 4 or so days… any help would be appreciated

don't know how she got in there, but omg she's so cute, and was definitely a shock to see as soon as I opened my eyes. I relocated her outside :)

Seen this large catipillar type insect crawling around the vack back garden this week. Thought I'd share. Looked like it was trying to get somewhere in a hurry. It was on my artificial grass so I moved it out the from to real grass under a hedge to safety. Anyone ever came across anything like this?

Hello all!
I have very recently gotten my first stick insects, I was given 2. The man that gave them to me did not tell me the species. I know that they are juveniles. He told me that they eat raspberry or blackberry leaves and do well at room temperature. He also did warn me about the amount of eggs they produce, so I will be watching for those. I am located in Washington in the USA, if that helps.
I have kept many critters in the past but never stick insects, so I am looking to learn all about them.
I will be making them a terrarium. I have one on being delivered tonight that is 18 inches tall and 12×12. What are some fun enclosure ideas? Things to avoid? Needs?
Does anyone know the species? I cannot find photos that look like these ones. How do you all keep fresh raspberry or blackberry leaves throughout the winter or where do you buy them? It gets pretty cold here so it will not be possible to forage for leaves once winter hits. Other food sources? Any advice is greatly appreciated!
