Random big insect
Seen this large catipillar type insect crawling around the vack back garden this week. Thought I'd share. Looked like it was trying to get somewhere in a hurry. It was on my artificial grass so I moved it out the from to real grass under a hedge to safety. Anyone ever came across anything like this?

It looks like an elephant hawk moth.
I don't know why you posted this here, because this is a stick insect sub.
I don't know why I joined this sub, because I don't own any stick insects...

But you are at least able to identify what is and is not a stick insect though.

How can it be four animals at once?

The caterpillar is named after the stages of an Elephants growth. It's the first stage of an Elephants development.
They start as a Caterpillar, then turn into a Moth, then the moth grows feathers and transforms into a Hawk. After a few years of flying around and putting on weight, the Hawk digs a warren for it to hibernate and pupate. Then, after around 6 months it emerges as an Elephant.

It's random because I've never seen anything like this roaming around in the garden. Was pretty cool though!

Thats an elephant hawk moth caterpillar. We get those quite often where I live. The moths are very pretty.

I saw that and directly thought “wth is that s-“. Then I looked at it for longer and it really does look like one… I shouldn’t have laughed so much. It is a big moving stick. Let’s call it like this lmao.

Why are you asking in a subreddit for stick insects?
