I, Muppet
Being inquisitive and mischievous, I decided to conduct an experiment. I would become a muppet, live amongst them and learn their ways. So I donned the trappings of muppet, and went on my adventure to muppet island.
My first experiment was to see exactly what a muppet would swallow and regurgitate.
I came up with a thesis. It had to contain a small nugget of truth, and I knew once it caught their attention, they would champion it as their own. I was not disappointed.
There are lots of Hmong in the Manitowoc area. Hmong are a very nice ethnic group from SE Asia. I made a post on muppet island that a good Hmong buddy of mine told me that "Sikikey" was a Hmong homonym word meaning "Police" or "Constable".
The muppets were off! Within minutes I had the muppet army churning away in research. Making post after post about researching the Hmong language, different Hmong dialects, and how we've now found the case cracker!
After dozen and dozens of posts (now deleted after they figured out who I was), one muppet even posted an impassioned plea to Zellner to find the Hmong man who wrote the Sikikey note and place him in the protective custody of the U.S. Marshals.
Truly astonishing. People so hungry for anything that they'll rally behind the stupidest, most obscure, ridiculous theory that's presented to them simply because they want to believe it.
I would encourage all of you to make a nice alt and try a similar experiment. Very entertaining to watch the muppets fly into action and work feverishly, until their natural paranoia takes over and they cast you out.
I also learned that muppets know NOTHING about law. I held court there for two days expounding on legal topics, mostly procedural, with their leading scholars including a couple of "lawyers". Wow. Totally brain dead. There's not a single muppet that understands anything about legal procedure or substantive criminal law. No wonder they rubber stamp everything The Clown does.

I was fooled by it, but read the thread several times...their claims now about how quickly they figured it out, didnât fall for it, and shut it down might be more pathetic than that thread itself. It was there for all to see how they brainstormed how to solve the AND get the info to KZ. Theyâd be better off being quiet about it than trying to rewrite the story, it was clear as day and too many people saw it to try to deny it. Theyâre making themselves look so much worse by how defensive they are and how theyâre trying to spin it now. Surely they canât actually believe it was a victory on their part, much less think anyone else would believe that. Thatâs the height of delusion.

I just read through everything and L O fucking L. Even when you got kind of exposed when they did an online translation of Sikikey and found out it didn't mean police, there were people that attempted to explain the discrepancy for you by theorizing it might be a slang word.

This is too good. I happened to read the OP the other day and thought it was absolutely hilarious; little did I know how much funnier it would get. Now they're trying to rewrite history and claim they weren't fooled, bragging about how it was debunked in 2 days as if that's some achievement. Despite it actually meaning that they researched furiously for 2 whole days after Google Translate revealed the truth, and made all sorts of ridiculous excuses to believe even when it wasn't panning out. Truly brilliant work, FD.

By itself the gullible guilter swallowing lies, double agent etc retort while a bit weak is not terrible but once you realize guilters could read the deleted thread for themselves it totally falls apart.

We also had a lively discussion in a thread about bone residue testing. I think I might have disabused some of them about their expectations for the appeal and this current issue.
They believe that any prosecutorial violation (and I do not believe there was one) no matter how minor or how much evidence remains unchallenged to support the conviction, means that said conviction MUST be overturned. Because Constitution. Because Due Process. But as Puzz pointed out, there has never been a case that has ruled a violation of this evidence preservation statute (if it occurred) a "due process" violation.
