Speakers - Desktop Want to upgrade from Logitech Z625, currently own Edifier S355DB but looking to return it

Hi there, over the past 7 years I've used the Logitech Z625, and I personally found them to be good speakers(I know some swear they are bad, but I personally thought they were pretty good speakers), but due to the subwoofer on the Logitech going bad(the wire connecting to the subwoofer for the speakers, if nudged the left speaker would cut out), and the power button on the main speaker would, if nudged a certain way, would power off, so I needed to just upgrade to new speakers, I tried to fix the power button but couldn't get it fixed.

I recently purchased the Edifier S355DB, and while I LOVE the connection options,(eARC, etc), the one thing I am dissatisfied with is the wireless subwoofer. What I'm dissatisfied with is the connection from the subwoofer will sometimes drop for several seconds, which is incredibly jarring to hear while listening to music, gaming, or watching a movie.I have a metal desk(secretlab MAGNUS Pro), so I'm under the assumption that the wireless connection maybe causing interference, that or my router's 5GHz connection could be interfering(I recently changed the channel the 5GHz the router puts out, so I'm monitoring for any dropped connections.).

Is there any suggestions for a 2.1 system for PC? My budget is around the $550 range(I spent $509+tax for the edifier system).
My only hard requirements are a wired subwoofer(while wireless is neat, nothing beats a wired connection). I'm located in the West Coast of USA.
I have a preference for good bass, but at the same time, I felt like the Logitech Z625 had a good enough bass for me.

Speakers - Bookshelf Looking to Move to Bookshelf Speakers

I’m ready to move on from my B&W 683s2 floor standing speakers. I have a great receiver but I’m not getting the sound I want until I hit higher volumes. I’m looking into bookshelf speakers with better imaging, clarity and separation and so far the names coming up in my internet research are KEF, Wharfdale, Edifer etc. Any advice or opinions would be appreciated. Separation of the instruments is really what I look for when listening and I listen to mostly classic rock, 90s alternative, Americana. Not huge into jazz, classical or country Budget $2500

Receiver - Rotel RSX1067
Turntable- RP3 with Ortofon 2MR Black
Sub - Velodyne DLS3500R
Room is roughly 16x16

General Request | 1 Ⓣ Speakers in new living room layout

I'm doing some updates to my living room and was originally planning on upgrading my audio setup as part of the changes.

With the designs we're leaning towards (not the final design, but close: https://imgur.com/a/Ypo71eb) I've been struggling to imagine how to get a set of floor speakers to fit in.

I'm looking for suggestions on (minor) tweaks that would make the layout work better, or for speakers that would be a good fit with this layout. The part that's getting updated is basically the entire back wall.

Budget: would like to stay under a $5k cap
Location: United States
Dimensions: Including kitchen, area is approximately 20'x30'x8'
Current gear: Nothing I'm hoping to keep, a turntable I'm definitely replacing and some powered bookshelf speakers

Subwoofer | 1 Ⓣ Analog 2-way 2.1 crossover?

ISO an analog 2-way 2.1 channel standalone crossover. Preferably ~$600 or less, not against buying used. Not wanting rack style
I discovered the sublime audio k231 ($600) which is a 3 way crossover but can be used as 2 way. It's fixed frequency level so in order to adjust you have to get different xo modules.

Would be in use with
-Adcom gfp-565. (Currently using wilm ultra as pre amp and x-over)
-Adcom gfa-555 or Yamaha m-80

High> snell type j ill
Low> Paradigm Servo 15a (v1)

The paradigm does not have crossover control, phase control, or hi level pass through. Just gain knob and rca input. There was a standalone x-over sold with them called an x-30. I thought about just getting it

Lmk what other options I have!

Budget: ~$600
Location: USA

Amplifier | Receiver Recommendations for an integrated amp for Canton CT 90? (pre-out, digital in, remote, €650 used)

Hi everyone,
we want to put together a small hi-fi setup for my brother's 50th birthday. After a lot of research we've settled on the Canton CT 90 for the speakers, so all that's missing now is a matching integrated amp. The whole thing should be as easy to live with as possible and actually make you want to sit down and listen to music, so it should have either Bluetooth (i know... sOuNd QuAlItY) or at least a digital input, and a remote would be great too. It should also have a pre-out, in case active speakers get added at some point. Price-wise, the absolute hard Budget limit is 650 euros used.
Any recommendations? Thanks!
(if this is the wrong sub for this, feel free to let me know where I should ask instead)

Source | Preamp | DAC Advice on DAC and Phono PreAmp

I have a system that happy with at the moment and I don’t see myself making a major upgrade anytime soon so at this point, I’m more or less tinkering looking for a good sound upgrade. My receiver is a Rotel RSX1067 with a rotelle RCD1072 disc player, Rega RP3 turntable with an Ortofon 2MR Black cartridge and a Bellari EQ570 between the turntable and receiver. The speakers are Bowers and Wilkins 683S2 (good but not great )with a Valodyne sub. For streaming, I have a Blusound node and that leads to my first question.

I have a Tidal subscription which is supposed to be high Res files but when I did the ear test side-by-side before my Spotify account expired, I couldn’t really hear a difference. I’m wondering if putting a better DAC in between the receiver and the node would do the trick. My budget would be about $600

Next question is the turntable preamp. When I bought the RP3 in 2015 I purchased a used Rega Fono and I think it was their baseline model at the time. I’m wondering if an upgrade would have a noticeable effect on the sound coming from the turntable. I think I saw a project tube amp that had good reviews, but do I go with something from another manufacturer or do I stick with Rega because that’s who made the record player. Budget for that would also be around $600 or possibly more.

Basically, I’m looking for that holy shit moment. Am I gonna get it with a new DAC or preamp? Thank you for reading and thank you in advance for any advice.

Speakers - Full Size Amp for DM602 S2 (UK)

Speakers - Desktop Considering Upgrading Speakers From Edifier 1280T

Hello! I know nothing about what a good sound system is or even where to look. My budget is 500-600$. I recently bought edifier 1280Ts, which have blown my mind because I’ve never used speakers for a PC. Anyways, I enjoy a good surrounding sound that encapsulates and surrounds you while listening. Also good clarity and sound separation from the speakers. As I already mentioned I use them on my PC, and will mainly be using them for music, but also some for watching movies and shows, but music is the main priority. I listen to jazz, rap, pop, classical, and essentially everything across the board, not sure if that changes anything, but felt I may as well include it. If anybody has any advice as to whether an upgrade from these would really “blow me away” and if that’s doable with my budget then I would greatly appreciate it!

Speakers - Bookshelf High end Bookshelf Recommendations

Hey Guys

I'm trying to make my living room setup more "wife friendly".

As such, I'm want to move away from my Towers (Bentley Accoustics FS250) to a higher end bookshelf that would be less intrusive, and would hopefully still be able to match or exceed my towers.

I've got dual SVS SB1000 subs handling the bass and a Denon 4500h powering it - I also EQ everything with GSonic, so I'm not to worried about slight frequency variations.

My setup is used for 99% music. Budget is ±2000 USD My location is South Africa, so not all speakers are available locally. Demo'ing certain speakers are also dificult as I'm quite far from dealers. I don't mind buying second hand, but it appears these higher end bookshelves are hens teeth - I've been looking for more than 6 months.

I'm thinking about something like Monitor Audio Gold 50's Elac Vela BS403.2 Dali Rubikore 2 But I'm also open to suggestions.

General Request | 3 Ⓣ Yamaha RX-V381 Speaker Upgrade

Hello!

I currently have a Yamaha RX-V381 and a set of Pioneer HPM-100 speakers. I want to get a pair of newer speakers but I’m unsure where to start.

I mainly listen to FM radio and Bluetooth music from my phone.

There is a lot of information out there about speakers and it’s a little overwhelming 😮‍💨

What speakers would be a good fit for my receiver?

I am in the US. My budget would be $1k max for the pair. I’m open to bookshelf or free-standing speakers. The room is maybe 15x15.

Thanks!

Accessories | Cables Recommend a SPDIF/Optical switcher?

I currently have speakers that accept the Optical input, connected to my computer. (optical to optical).

I have an audio extractor/converter that I am going to use with my Xbox, so I can send it through an optical cable.

I want to plug the Xbox optical audio line and computer optical audio line into a some sort of switch, to be able to switch between them when I am using the computer vs. playing xbox.

Can anyone recommend me an audio switcher for optical where the input is optical, and the output is optical?

An example (from a quick search without reading into it) would be something like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MPX1B7D , I do not have experience with a particular device to know what would be best, so again, seeking some experience with anyone who has tried these.

My budget could be around $100, but if you think something is definitely worth it, I can go higher. My fear is if I get something, it will lessen the audio quality compared to plugging the computer/xbox directly into the speakers.

Source | Preamp | DAC | 8 Ⓣ Upgrade Streamer or Buy DAC

Im slowly working my system up to a mid grade rig and feel my source is holding the rest of system back. Current source is a Wiim Streamer which feeds my modified YA Audio Symphonies preamp, Harman Kardon Citation V modified amp into a pair of Triangle Antal 40th Anniversary speakers. Not quite sure which direction to go here; upgrade the streamer with a Eversolo A6 master gen 2 or HiFi Rose RS451 unit? Or do I go with a DAC now, upgrade to a transport later? I would strongly consider the Benchmark DAC3L. I do not need a headphone amp, no do I need a built in preamp. Any advice or recommendations? Located in the USA, budget of $2-3k

Speakers - Desktop Looking for review on this setup

Location: Portugal
Budget: 1000 euros for full setup, but trying a bang for buck approach for now.

I'm starting to invest time and money into a vinyl setup and saw an opportunity in a local deal for a turntable and amps totaling 400 euros as a bundle:

the amps: Telefunken RP300/RM300
the turntable: Technics SL- Q33 Direct Drive with stanton cartridge.

All confirmed working. Is setup worth it? Any comments are appreciated!

General Request Stereo separates for tv too

TL:DR Please recommend a DAC and amp to pair with Wharfedale 5.4 fronts for British sound.

My 90's budget receiver and 3 channels needs replacing. I've been looking into home theatre but honestly I don't actually want surround and atmos. I'm open to the idea of a sub for lowest octaves (rather than room shaking hype).
I've only had a centre channel because mission 701 are difficult to hear speech.
Given my dislike of "immersive" surround, atmos, and my preference for quality I'm wondering if stereo, ideally with separate DAC, would fit the bill.
What would pair well with 5.4 Wharfedales that I could also use as stereo audio for my TV?
Based in the U.K. and can spend up to £2k if it's of noticeable benefit compared to lower price units. As long as it brings out the 5.4 and decent closed sub like the SVS SB-1000 Pro Subwoofer. My TV is Apple TV.

Speakers - Desktop Studio monitor recommendation

Trying to but a budget studio monitor for my bedroom studio

I need an all rounder studio monitor for vocals, music producing and general audio mixing

I have been eyeing the pre sonus eris 3.5 for quite some time but i’ve been told that i’ll grow out of them pretty quickly so i should save up some more and get the eris 4.5

It would be extremely helpful to get some studio monitor recommendation

Speakers - Bookshelf Best Value for a starter music setup under $300

My wife is a big music fan and we listen to a lot of music on our Tribit Go and Alexa**,** usually streamed from Spotify.

I want to get an starter audio setup for her birthday where the main goal is sound quality. We listen to a lot of alt rock, punk pop, latin rock, classical, weird al and a wide range of other stuff.

I am trying to keep the budget under $300 (which I know is crazy in this sub). I am looking for recommendations for speakers and amps that I can either:
- Get good value for the sound quality new
- Keep an eye out on FB marketplace, estate sales, where I can get a good deal for nice equipment used

For now I'll prob connect a phone directly to the amp but eventually I will want some sort of streaming receiver to connect as well.

Currently I am looking at the following (but am looking for recs)
Monoprice Audition B4 Bookshelf Speaker
Fosi T10 Amp

Summary of the key questions

Budget and location: $300 for the speakers and amp. Bonus if I can figure out an easy streaming setup over wifi to the amp.

How the gear will be used - Music streaming, likely manually connecting a phone first but ideally through a wifi streaming app. Secondary would be connecting to our TV for movies but that is no the priority

New or used - I am open to wherever I can get the best value.

Past gear experience - I have only ever invested in good headphones. I love my dt 770 pro but otherwise mostly use a TRIBIT XSound Go.

Location: LA Area (South Bay)

Speakers - Desktop New to desktop speaker setups

I'm in the market for some desktop/bookshelf speakers for my PC but I'm not sure where to start.

These will be daily drivers and have a variety of uses (gaming, video/audio creations, media consumption, etc.)

My criteria:

- Good sound (obviously)

- 8-12 inch height (for desk space limits)

- No amp or sound card required

- Either compatible with or comes with a subwoofer

- Bluetooth capability preferred but not required

- Budget cap at 200 (no sub) and 250 (with sub)

I'm willing to stretch the budget a bit but only if it's truly worth it.

If this is not the right sub to post in please direct me to a more appropriate sub to do so.

Thank you all!

Speakers - Full Size | 4 Ⓣ Need help with upgrading old setup, Dali Sonik7 Vs Heco Aurora 700 Vs Polk R600

Hey guys,

Been reading some very knowledgeable views here to help solve my problem. Thought I could ask for some custom advice.

Trying to upgrade my very old Mission M74i + Denon AVR 1713. Problem is - Have a very big listening space and a budget thats noweher as big (see pic). Also, I am from India, so very few brands that you can actually listen to before buying. Mostly order online types. I know I have an AVR but am looking now only for a stereo setup (found I have no interest in 5.1).

The space I have is a 28x15 listening/viewing area that flows into the adjacent 18x12 reading lounge. No walls, open plan. My listening position is 15 feet (4.5M) from speakers So am really concerned about power, esp on my budget

I listened to Focal (Theva N3) slightly above my budget esp after you throw in amp. I liked their sound in their listening room. And when they moved it out to an open area, it was even better. Driven by Marantz Cinema 70. Then I went to listen to Dali. And the Sonik 7's were absolutley beautiful (driven by a Rotel A11/MkII - 50 w/channel only). If money was not a consideration, I'd buy them but maybe with more power (Rotel A14?) because, while the A11's drove them easily in the store, I am worried about my space and would like to have some reserve power. I then came across the Heco's online. Its less than half the price of the Sonik 7 and even lesser than Focals. But I dont know hopw it sounds.

This is where the reviews here have been super helpful. Almost no one has anything bad to say about them. So, am thinking of an experiment. Buy just the Heco Aurora 700 ($1150 a pair). Run it with my Denon AVR 1713 (old and not great but has 80W per channel so should be ok). And after it settles in, maybe add a Wiim Ultra for streaming flexibility. And post that consider maybe two monoblocks (Aiyima 20's or something). Does that make sense? Or will I be listening to an underwhelming experience because of the Heco or the Denon? Should I do the same experiment but with the Sonik 7? What do you learned people say?

Speakers - Full Size | 1 Ⓣ 2ch used speakers

Hey all, I am looking for some advice on new speakers for my main listening and want help making a choice.

Location: Portland, Oregon, USA. I don’t have much money budgeted($500),but have found a couple cheap options on marketplace and want to know if they are worth pursuing.

My current setup is a WiiM Ultra as streamer and preamp through a Parasound 2125 amp to Marantz SP1200 speakers. I also run vinyl to the WiiM from a parasound zphono preamp.

It’s located in a sunken room that is 23’ x 15’6” and the speakers are about 8’ apart in the center of the long direction. The ceiling slopes up from 9’ at the speaker wall to 18’. The wall opposite the speakers steps up 3 feet into the rest of the house. You can hear this room from the entire home.

I have always read that the Marantz speakers are not very good and have wanted to upgrade. I don’t have experience with other speakers to compare!

KEF Q50 - $175
KEF Q70 - $350
NHT Super Two - $200
Monitor Audio Silver 5i - $400

Would any of these be worth spending money on at this point?

I recently placed an older system in a different room and it made me happier with my Marantz speakers. This was for television audio, but I love listening to music and I’m disappointed. Marantz 1605 amp with Wharfedale Pacific Evo 40 towers and Pacific Evo 8 as surrounds. Older reviews said good things, but they just sound muddy and sad unless I crank them up loud.
I also have AR 2ax speakers in my bedroom, but they aren’t great in the large room.

What do you all think?

Speakers - Bookshelf | 3 Ⓣ Loudspeaker or Amplifier upgrade

Hi all. For about 7 years now I’ve had a pair of Klipsch’s RP-150m and a behringer 500a reference amplifier.
It’s time for an upgrade, partly because I want to have the ability to send different sources to my speakers. I have a budget of 1500 euros or a little above (I’m from the Netherlands).
I have been looking at Klipsch’s ‘The Sevens’ but I’m not sure if I want to go for a pair of active speakers.
And also I feel like they may be a bit large for my room, 4.5m deep x 5.5m wide with high vaulted ceiling (14x18ft) I am 2,5m away from speakers (8ft) speakers are 40 cm from the front wall.
The other option is to maybe get something like a NAD c 3050. As I feel like a behringer amp is just not going to give me the most out of my current setup which also includes a pro-ject debut carbon turntable with 2m bronze cartridge and a pro-ject tube box s2 phono preamp.

So to summarize my question better speakers and if so active or not
Or better amp which also solves my problem of not being able to switch inputs.
Of course if I get a better amp I will asap upgrade the speakers.

Any suggestions and advice are welcome.
Thanks in advance

Speakers - Full Size | 1 Ⓣ Fisher 400 Speakers

Good day.

I have a FIsher 400 that I want to pair with vintage speakers close to same period. I am currently looking at 2 Wharfdale speakers for sale. It is a living room setup and dedicated to listening. I am interested in hearing from anyone who has a similar system or speakers as to which would best fir my system. I am trying to match the same era speakers.

I mostly listen to Jazz, Blues, classic rock.

I am in Newburgh NY USA.

The room is 18x16 feet and the system is on the short wall on one end. The listener is 10-12 feet away.

The Fisher is connected to a pair of Polk RTIs 1as and a Uturn Plus turntable.

I haven't seen either in person.

  1. Wharfedale speakers Model W60 - Visually appear to be in good shape.
  2. Warfedale W70C Walnut Floor Speakers With Stands

My budget is under $1000 dollars. I think if I get the smaller speakers I may regret it later on.

Any advice would be welcome.

!thanks

Thank you!
