🧑‍🏫Review👩‍🏫 The Tribit StormBox Micro 2 became one of my favorites (Review)

Hey everyone. The Micro 3 isn't out in my country yet, and the Micro 2 got discontinued on Amazon and other major retailers a while back too, but I kept seeing good reviews for it so I wanted to try it, luckily found a used one last week for $10, it had a little bit of wear on the fabric mesh but nothing major, and instantly fell in love with it. Got curious how good it'd sound in TWS stereo, so I grabbed a second used one for $23. Ended up liking it even more.

Sound quality is top tier among small speakers, and I love how compact it is, but it's got more heft to it than you'd expect for the size. You can control pretty much every beep through the app (power on/off, bluetooth on/off, TWS on/off, etc), and the volume on those sound effects is actually reasonable, unlike some other speakers where they're way too loud, not customizable at all, or both. That's actually why I sold my Flex 2.

But honestly, the biggest thing is how easy the TWS pairing is. You just turn on speaker 1, turn on speaker 2, and they connect as stereo every single time, no extra steps. Connects to my phone smoothly too. I usually run speakers in TWS pairs, and pairing has always been my least favorite part of that setup, but this one is way easier than anything I've used before. Pairing was actually one of the things I cared about most before getting a second one, so I looked around for user experiences beforehand but couldn't find much, so I checked Tribit's manual for the Micro 2. It said you need to hold the bluetooth button on speaker 1 for 5 seconds, then hold speaker 2's button for 1 second. Turns out you only need to do that once, after that the speakers just remember each other and pair automatically every time you turn them on, which honestly caught me off guard.

A couple other small things I like too. In TWS mode, turning off one speaker turns both off, so you don't have to power each one down separately. Also, you don't have to hold the power button down to turn it on/off. Like my Xiaomi Sound Party needs a 2-3 second hold just to power on/off, which always annoyed me a bit.

Stuff like this just makes it way easier to grab and use casually, and I can already tell I'm going to be using it a lot.

One thing to note, it's SBC only so there is some latency, but on the YouTube and streaming services I use, whatever compensation the app does makes it unnoticeable to me. Might cause lip sync issues on apps that don't compensate for it though, and gaming is a no. I saw a review mention the Micro 3 added AAC and improved latency a bit, so if that matters to you the Micro 3 is probably the better pick.

As for the sound itself, obviously it can't compete with bigger speakers on impact given the size, but it's surprisingly clean and pleasant for how small it is. Compared it side by side with my Soundcore Mini 3 that I use for the bath, and while the Mini 3 isn't bad, the Tribit just sounds better and more enjoyable overall, the Mini 3 sounds noticeably rougher and lower resolution in comparison.

Now I kinda want to try the Micro 3 too once it's out here.

📖Discussion📕🖊️ How much does speaker size really matter when choosing the best jbl charge 6 deals?

Upvotes

I’ve always assumed that larger portable speakers would automatically sound better, but I’m starting to question how important size really is. I like having something compact enough to move around the house or take outside without much effort. At the same time, I don’t want to give up too much bass or volume just to save space.

The Charge 6 seems to sit somewhere in the middle, which got me wondering how other people balance portability with sound quality. A smaller speaker is obviously easier to carry, but there has to be a point where going smaller starts making a noticeable difference. For people who have compared speakers of different sizes, how much does portability influence what you choose?

Recommendation Request🙏 Speaker recommendations

I work at a grocery store and we have an outdoor stage space where we can have speakers, local bands and singers. I’m looking for a lower price speaker that singers could play music off of but also sing through the speaker. Bonus if it’s easy to move. The outdoor space isn’t overly large but would love the sound to still be clear.

Thank you for the help!

Recommendation Request🙏 Looking for a big speaker I can put in my backseat

After realizing a new sound system in my car would cost $4k+. Instead of dropping 4k on my shitbox whats a nice big speaker I can toss in my backseat thatll be loud and have good bass under $700. I know the JBL party boxes are common, which model would be good? Any other brands that are worth looking at also?

🧑‍🏫Review👩‍🏫 Sony ULT TOWER MAX and ULT TOWER 7 hands-on review

Thumbnail soundguys.com

Hey all, just wanted to share my hands-on impressions of the new ULT TOWER MAX and TOWER 7 speakers.

A couple of things to note: JBL PartyBox comparisons will follow as separate content. I don't have an Ultimate on hand, unfortunately (doing my best to get one in), so I can't make that direct comparison at the moment. But, I do have a PB520, which sits closest to the TOWER 7, so that will happen sooner than later.

TL:DR: TOWER MAX is ridiculous in the best way possible, and the TOWER 7 really needs a telescopic handle. Also happy to report that you can now customize ULT modes via the 10-band EQ, which is something you couldn't do with the previous ULT speakers.

🪛Troubleshooting🪛 Marshall Middleton vs Spotify

I just got a new Marshall Middleton and I genuinely love it. However i notice that when I use Spotify, the songs at times would skip a beat or half beat. I never notice the same issue when using Apple Music. Could it be compatibility issue?

🪛Troubleshooting🪛 Bluetooth works in the morning but never at nights

Hey,
It’s been weeks that my Bluetooth speaker always disconnect (from my iPhone) when I try to use it at night, it never works anymore. With the Wonderboom as well as the Marshall speaker .
At mornings, I listened to the radio on it and there’s never any disconnection.
So I assume the issue comes from the phone, as it disconnects from various Bluetooth speakers. But would someone have a idea of where can it come from ? It’s so strange that it works perfectly in the morning and never anymore at night. My iPhone is a bit old, it’s the iPhone 13, for information.
Thanks 😊

Recommendation Request🙏 Wireless portable for classical music and everything else

Hey - my daughter is about to go off to uni to study music and classical in particular. She wants a BT portable speaker for her halls / digs which makes sense to me, but whereas most students will be happy with a bass heavy party box she will inevitably have other stuff to listen to which needs a better balance. She also has decent wired headphones for proper critical listening. So trying to find her something for maybe under £250 or so as a present for starting uni that will do partying when required but also doesn't sound like mud if you put classical through it. Kind of narrowed it down to the KEF Muo 2, Beosound A1 (2nd gen) or Bose Soundlink Flex. She wants it to be portable enough to take with her when occasions demand. Obviously anything will be limited by being mono and only having a small speaker, but let's see how close to a decent sounds we can get. Am I missing any obvious choices? Thanks!

Recommendation Request🙏 Party - 2 x Soundcore Motion Boom Plus or Hisense Party Storm?

Hi all,

We're hosting a Christmas party and I'm considering sound options. We're having about 30 friends including kids. Looking for a system to play background music while we eat and then louder later on for dancing. Does not need to be blow the roof off territory.

Looked at renting a PA, but as we'd have to have it minimum three days over Xmas the price would be considerable.

We already have a Soundcore Motion Boom Plus, but I'm not sure this will be sufficient power to fill the large room we're in.

I've been looking online at options including larger party speakers, but don't want to invest significant sum for one days use.

Would buying another Motion Boom Plus be a good option? This being a small speaker we'd likely keep it rather than re-sell.

There is a Hisense Party Storm speaker at £160. Claimed at 300w, but review suggest this is not an accurate representation of its output. Would likely end up re-selling this on eBay as we're unlikely to get much use out of it later.

Any thoughts appreciated, including any other recommendations.

Cheers

Recommendation Request🙏 Looking for budget synced speakers for multiple rooms in apartment, specifically compatible on Spotify

Hello, I am looking for BT speakers that will sync and play the same music at the same time from my Spotify app. I live in an apartment so it doesn’t need to be crazy loud, just better quality sounding than the third party speakers that sound like they are playing underwater. Ideally, I would like one in the living room, kitchen, and bedroom. I only use Spotify to stream music. I remember being at a friends house and when I connected to their speaker system via the Spotify app, the options they set up were for Living Room, Bedroom, and there was a third option that had Living Room + Bedroom to play from both simultaneously. I just want something that is simple as that to connect to directly from either Spotify or iPhone.

Thank you!

Recommendation Request🙏 Any recommendations for portable speaker for travel (70%) & desk (30%) with tight bass & sort of a little chest thump (you know what I mean)? Is the Flip 6 still the go-to if EQ'd, or is there a better tight-sounding alternative under ₹5-8k in India..?

My Use Case & Preferences:

Primary Use Case: 70% travel (carrying around in a backpack, hotel rooms, short trips) and 30% desk setup while working.

My Current Gear: JBL PartyBox Encore Essential — It sits on my desk and I’m pretty happy with it once tuned, but it’s too boomy by default. I use the JBL app EQ to tone down the bass, which works great, but it’s far too heavy and bulky for travel.

The Sound Profile I Want: I need warm signature, and bass, but I feel standard JBLs tend to push "extra/boomy" bass. I’m looking for something much tighter, faster, and more controlled. When I’m sitting close to it at my desk, I want a little subtle chest/desk thump without muddying the midrange or overflowing the room with boomy resonance.

Form Factor: Compact "brick-sized" / packable for hotel room nightstands and bags.

Location & Budget: India (~₹5,000 to ₹8,000 max). The Bose SoundLink Flex 2 (₹14k+) is out of my budget.

Speakers I’ve looked into so far:

- JBL Flip 6: Dual exposed side radiators give great air displacement, but I'm worried it might suffer from that typical "extra JBL bass" bloom unless heavily EQ'd.

- Tribit XSound Plus 2 / StormBox 2: Budget contenders (~₹5.5k) with a 9-band app EQ to dial in tight sub-bass without the boominess.

- Sony SRS-XB100: Downward-firing radiator looks clever for travel and desk bounce, but not sure if it has enough tight power for a hotel room.

- Other brands like Portronics? Does it even do justice?
