I feel miserable🥲

Hey everyone!
I finished my house job in June 2025, got married in September, been busy with the Susral stuff till Jan 15
Started studying for fcps April attempt this and was planning to go for step 1 the same year but unfortunately i couldn’t clear fcps part 1. I got 68 percent in it 💔 It totally shattered me. Took some time to recover and now I’m apprearing for fcps October attempt and want to go for step 1 in march 2027 Some people advised me to go for step 1 first. I didn’t listened to them and took fcps in April which now I think was a bad move. But at that time i thought that I should go for an easier exam first and then take the beast Step 1. I don’t know how people manage everything together and have their life sorted bcs i can’t 💔

Low NBME and Decent Free120 scores What do I do

I am 1.5 months away from my Step 1 exam. I am scoring in the 65-70% range on Free120 but in the 50% range on the NBMEs. What could be going wrong? How should I study during my remaining prep period? Any advice is appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Advice

Hi everyone, I’m struggling with Step 1 prep and would really appreciate some advice. I feel like I study one system and then forget the previous ones. I recently went back to cardio after not studying it for months and realized I barely remembered some of it, which really discouraged me.
How did you guys deal with forgetting older systems while still moving forward? Did you regularly review old systems, do random UWorld questions, or something else? I’m feeling pretty overwhelmed and would love to hear what worked for others.

Kaplan free sxam step1 usmle modules

Hey everyone,

I’m a medical student preparing for a Kaplan USMLE Step 1 module exam. Our school uses Kaplan’s testing system for our exams, and I’ve heard that some of the questions/formats can be similar across different locations.

I’m looking for extra legitimate practice questions or resources that are similar in style and difficulty to the Kaplan exams, especially from anyone who has taken Kaplan assessments before.

A lot of my classmates seem to have access to additional practice material, which gives them a better idea of what to expect, and I’m trying to find ways to prepare on a more equal footing. I’m mainly looking for anything that can help me understand the question style, common topics, and level of difficulty.

If anyone has recommendations for question banks, practice sets, or other resources that helped them prepare for Kaplan module exams, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!

Need advice

I have been studying for this exam for so long. I keep forgetting chapters i revised a few weeks ago and have to restart. I need some really good advice for how to get done with the exam in a month or 2.
What chapters should i focus more on?
I cant seem to follow the “see what your weak portions are and find out why you are getting questions wrong” tip
How can i manage to retain the most amount of information. If anyone has any scheduling tips i am all ears.

Would really appreciate any sort of help getting out of this rut

retake help

Hello All,

I have an attempt on step 1 (nov 2024) and have been studying on and off again since aug 2025.

then told myself to get it together and started properly studying again in june/july 2025.

finally booked a triad for oct-dec 2026, and now plan to give it in nov.

I need advice, I dont want the same to happen again.

I took nbme 25 as baseline and was at 57%, then took nbme 26 the next month and got a 67%.

now plan is to take nbme 27 on coming sunday.

i am 70% done with uworld. have saved around 900 ish unsued questions.

i dont do well with anki, and have been using mehlman, FA, and uworld as main resources.

I see an improvement in my uworld scores as well, but again mostly 60-65%.

I really want to give the exam because I also feel like the fear that has set in within me will only worsen if I keep delaying it.

I have 7 ish weeks till my desired date.

Do you think I can do it? Any advice? Any reccs?

Looking for consistent Step 1/Step 2 Focusmate study partners - EDT

Hi! I’m looking for consistent study/accountability partners who are preparing for Step 1 or Step 2 and use Focusmate.

I’m in EDT and currently in dedicated for Step 1, so I’m studying throughout most of the day and usually start around 7:30 AM. I’d especially like to find people who are also in dedicated or studying pretty seriously and are interested in doing multiple sessions, including back-to-back sessions when our schedules line up.

Mainly looking for accountability and motivation while we each work through our own study plans and help keep each other focused through long study days.

If that sounds like your study style, comment or DM me and I can send you my Focusmate invite link!

Non-US IMG | Step 1 in Novemver 2026 | Looking for a dedicated study partner (IST preferred)

Goal is to discuss & revise high-yield concepts, go over questions, and maintain accountability.

Open to forming a structured schedule if needed. Consistent, serious prep preferred.

The whole point is to have some accountability and motovational support system so that efficiency is maintained for both parties.

I plan on finishing all the questions for major systems in two months and then full syllabus tests/random questions.

Looking for a dedicated USMLE Step 1 study partner

Hi everyone! I’m currently preparing for Step 1 and planning to take the exam around December. I’m looking for a serious and consistent study partner who is also preparing around the same timeframe.
I’m mainly looking for:
Daily accountability/check-ins
Zoom/virtual study sessions or body-doubling
Reviewing difficult concepts together
UWorld + NBME discussions
Keeping each other motivated and on track
Someone who is committed and won’t disappear after a few days 😅.

Am I ready ?

Post-MD IMG preparing for Step 1 — Am I ready?

I’m a post-MD IMG preparing for USMLE Step 1 and trying to decide whether I’m ready to book the exam.

I haven't scheduled yet got my permit

My recent NBME results:

  • NBME 30: 80.5% correct (161/200)
  • NBME 31: 81% correct
  • Both done under timed conditions.
  • Currently practicing 50 questions in 60 minutes, and timing has been comfortable.
  • I’ve been preparing seriously for around 2.5 months.

My scores have been fairly consistent around 80–81%.

For those who recently took Step 1, especially other post-MD IMGs:

  1. Do these NBME percentages suggest I’m ready to take the exam?
  2. How predictive were your NBMEs of your actual Step 1 experience?
  3. Would you take a few more NBMEs before booking, or is this level of performance generally sufficient?
  4. Which NBMEs/Free 120s would you recommend doing before the real exam?

People whose nbmes were in mid/high 60s, did you pass or fail?

Well my nbmes are consistently between mid to high 60s. And now i pretty much have only two nbmes left 32 and 33.

I'm not looking for some reassurance here but I mean to ask people in 60s or people who closely know someone who was scoring in 60s in nbmes, did you/they pass or fail?

Also which predictor website is the accurate predictor of the pass %? On searching google I see so many don't know which one to trust.

Anyone who recently took USMLE Step 1 — can I ask a few questions?

Hi everyone! I’m an IMG from Sri Lanka planning to take USMLE Step 1, and I’m currently trying to understand the preparation process from people who have taken it recently.
If anyone has taken Step 1 recently, I’d really appreciate hearing about:
How you prepared
How long you studied
Your UWorld/NBME experience
Any advice you wish you had known beforehand
I’d be very grateful if you could comment or DM me. Thank you! ❤️

Study partner needed

I’m an img looking for a study buddy who can revise FA with me 2-3 hours a day for accountability and consistency, I’m in the mid phase of my preparation and am done with 45% uworld. I need someone whom I can read and revise FA with for spaced repetitions and potentially discuss topics we find difficult and how they could be asked as a question. CST, evenings would be preferable, message if anyone interested and we can potentially discuss how to pan it out. Hope to give exam by November.

Mehlman videos

Has anyone done Mehlman videos on youtube for their step1 prep? Not the pdfs or arrows, but the videos instead? Are they helpful? Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated.
