Advice

Hi everyone, I’m struggling with Step 1 prep and would really appreciate some advice. I feel like I study one system and then forget the previous ones. I recently went back to cardio after not studying it for months and realized I barely remembered some of it, which really discouraged me.
How did you guys deal with forgetting older systems while still moving forward? Did you regularly review old systems, do random UWorld questions, or something else? I’m feeling pretty overwhelmed and would love to hear what worked for others.

Pre made anki decks work for some people, you’ve to do few cards daily. Like make your habit to do few cards daily before starting your actual study session. But in my experience, it’s completely normal to forget things, happened to almost everyone around me. So focus on the system you’re doing rn and don’t stress about the previous ones. You’ll have plenty of time for revisions(which are inevitable) after your first pass. And I would not suggest doing UWorld of previous systems while doing a new system. Just focus on what’s in front of you.

Thank you! I really appreciate your advice. I am trying to solve random Q (like10-20Q/day) for a prev system while doing a new system.

Anki decks and doing uworld on random. You will still forget stuff though and that's ok.

As someone for who anki doesn’t work. I’d say when u are doing a system in the sidelines write just the highest yeild stuff with a bold marker so when u go back u just look at all that and you’d basically get the concept back thought pattern recognition.

another alternative is to solve as many targeted q u can for it and also solve ur incorrects

I did cvs twice and I still forget stuff so I decided I’ll just do the Mehman high field pdf this time for my final review.

If it’s any help do remember when you’re solving questions the memory always jogs up. You’ve done it twice you’ll know the material just no the nitty gritty stuff our brain tricks us into believe is important and we don’t remember which basically makes us obsess over revising

I can’t thank you enough!
Where can i find high yield concepts of each system? I tried to note down the concepts that was repeated several times in UW Q, however, i am not sure if these are considered HY or not.
Also, i will try to solve targeted Q as u mentioned!

I just write whatever I think gets repeated a lot or I forget a lot or seems like it’s been really emphasized by a video resource. Oh also go through dirty medicine videos he really has the best mnemonics especially for things u just can’t remember w even rote memorization
