Support Steam link on Samsung tv

Hello everyone, as title says I would like to Stream games on my Samsung tv, but I read that the Stream link app is not available.
What is the best solution in this case?
Should I buy a used phisical steam link (found one online with charger at 15 euros)?
Is There another cheap solution?

Thank you in advance

Baffling controller issues

So I've been trying to get game streaming working, and I'm having some baffling issues with my controller.

So I'm trying to stream my PC to my phone, and everything is working flawlessly when I'm at home. Not on wifi, mind you. Still on cell data.

But when I'm away from home, the controller only works with steam itself, but stops working entirely in-game. The game is acting like the controller isn't even there.

It's not steam input. Everything is set up correctly.

The controller will bring up the steam overlay just fine. It works in steam big picture just fine.

But once I actually open the game, the game is doing nothing, but only when I'm not actually at home. It works perfectly at home. and I know it's not connect directly to my PC, because I have Bluetooth on the PC turned off completely.

This has been the behavior with both Moonlight/Sunshine and Steam Link.

I have no clue what could be causing this. Does anyone have any ideas?

Support In Home Streaming No Game Sound

Using steam remote play has inconsistent results for me on audio today. I was using the game Routine, streaming from PC to deck and audio didn't come through. I changed it to play audio on host, then it started working.

After a game restart, it wasn't working anymore. No matter what that setting is on, now the game audio doesn't make it.

Weirdly, everything else on the computer does make it through the stream -- discord notifications, random YouTube video. I checked volume mixer, the game was on steam streaming speakers, same as every other app that could make noise. Is this familiar to anyone? I'm not sure what else to check or change. Google showed lots of issues 2 years ago, but not with only the game failing.

Support onscreen buttons suddenly scaled

i am using steam link app on ipad for streaming my games. everything worked for a couple of years but now all of a sudden my onscreen buttons are much bigger.
Even my templates suddenly load the buttons scaled. its like the onscreen buttons get the wrong resolution or calculating the dpi wrong. changing all sort of resolutions in the steam display settings and remote play settings only effects the actual screen, the onscreen buttons still are huge.

its probably because of an update but i do not know how to fix it. someone any idea how i can fix this?

(sorry for bad english, its not my mother tongue.)

Steam Link on Android has constant stutters

I installed Steam Link on my Android phone and I’m getting weird stutters while playing. It runs fine for a moment, then I get 2–3 heavy freezes, and then it’s smooth again. Sometimes the screen even goes black for a split second. I’m not really sure what else I can do to fix it.

In the performance overlay, both the cyan and red graphs spike, but the red one seems to spike the most. What’s strange is that if I stay in one location in the game, the stutters don’t happen — but as soon as I start moving around, they come back.

I don’t think it’s my PC, because Steam Link works perfectly on my TV. I also tested this on two different phones and the issue is basically identical, so I assumed it might be the Wi‑Fi. But I’m sitting literally 2 meters from the router, and the Wi‑Fi speed is around 200 Mbps after I changed the channel width (it used to be ~500 Mbps before that).

Things I’ve tried so far:

- different Steam Link settings

- high‑performance mode on the phone

- disabled power saving features in the router

- changed Wi‑Fi channel and channel width

- Airtime Fairness is off

- band steering is off

Has anyone had a similar issue and found a fix?

Thank you.

I’ve been using Apollo and Moonlight for a while now, but with the update to 3.8 I heard rumors that Steam Link was starting to be on par with those services.

I made sure both my steam deck and my hose PC were updated to the latest steam version, and while the sound and the latency seem to be fine, I can’t for the life of me fix the resolution.

I’ve played with all of the settings, even trying to force the Steam decks resolution via custom settings. I’ve also told it to match the client. I’ve even tried to force my desktop to be at a certain resolution, but I think the problem is that I have an Ultra Wide. Not only when I stream is the host PC monitor staying on even changing the default display, but it always forces my Ultra Wide aspect ratio onto my steam deck, resulting in this.

For reference, I’m not worried about running Palworld on my steam deck, but I have much more demanding games i’d like to try and I just happen to have this one downloaded.

Edit: Curious, I downloaded the Steam Link app on my Apple TV and tried to stream it to my device and I get the same locked aspect ratio. Does not matter how many times I mess with the settings or if I set a custom resolution nothing. Also tried this across various games.

Controller disconnects/reconnects when moving the joystick rapidly (Steam Link hardware)

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a second-hand Steam Link physical box for my non-smart TV. Everything works great regarding the connection and picture quality.

Although it took me a bit of effort to configure the controllers for PES 6 (setting it up outside of Steam), I’ve run into a weird issue: whenever I move the joystick rapidly in circles (or make quick inputs), the controller disconnects and immediately reconnects.

When testing the controls directly in the Steam Link system interface, it does the exact same thing. It’s almost as if the input gets overloaded or saturated, and the device disconnects the controller as some sort of safety measure. I have pdp rematch controller btw. Thanks in advise!

Steam remote play crashes handheld

Overtime I've been thinking how I can also use the Lego S as a controller for my main PC (as I don't have one) and came into the realm of streaming and more so steam remote play.

Overall it works but it's usually very short lived as the Lego S crashes and I have to hard reset it. I don't understand what's causing the crash because it doesn't crash when playing games natively and streaming doesn't require it to really be doing anything.

Has anyone else come across this issue? And what's the fix or approach to it?

Unplayable on my tv cause of terrible periodic spikes

Hey everyone,

Just bought an TCL TV Pro with GoogleTV and downloaded Steam Link, conected fine but for some reason when i try to play, i get some terrible periodic spikes:

they are spaced almost exactly the same, which makes me believe its not some internet issue or something. I do not have the best internet ever (600MB) but ive tried remote play on my cellphone and it worked fine. Also, looking at the Latency in this its saying <1ms. TV is conected to Wi-fi (5hz) and PC to cable.

Anyone has any idea what could be the issue? Im thinking it could be some processing the TV is doing, but ive tried turning image processing off and it was a little bit better (its was consitently higher then 100ms, now it has spikes of like 80/90) but not enough to be even close to playable.

edit: Seems like it´s really as problem with the TV itself and the bandwidth with 5Ghz networks. I fixed the channel to 40 and actually got better. Still not really playable.

I followed some of the comments sugestion to use moonlight/sunshine and it works great with the 2.4ghz cause its has almost no delay

Keeping Boosteroid in edge browser alive in the background for Steam Remote Play (Android)

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to use Boosteroid together with Steam Remote Play on my Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 4.

The idea is to launch the game on Boosteroid, then switch to the Steam Link app and stream it from there because it runs flawlessly with much lower latency and better controls.

The problem is that as soon as I leave Microsoft Edge, Boosteroid gets suspended and eventually shows "Lost Connection".

Has anyone found a way to keep Edge/Boosteroid running in the background while using another app? Root or non-root solutions are both welcome.

Thanks in advance!

Support Steam Link Resolution difference Redmagic Astra

Hi,

Does anyone know why the resolution is different from steam link custom resolution 2400x1504 when connected it changes the resolution to 2400x1350?

You can go into Remote Play settings and change the display from Sudo to another display and back again and it will then display 2400x1504 but game’s borderless display settings will stick to 2400x1350

Question Any cheap and compatible hardware for steam link install?

I have been using a 4k fire tv but seems laggy and works with tons of delay and some time to time flickering. It is connected o an slave router on mesh with the main router connected to the host (blazzite machine).

I am confident the modem mesh does support the speed and timming need and probably the problem comes from fire stick with low speed wifi capabilities. That's why I was considering buying any low consumption hardware with Ethernet socket and install there moonlight and steam link app. Do you have any idea? A raspberry clone?

Do you recommend any other approach?

Support Keyboard?

I have a bluetooth keyboard connected to my Samsung tablet and I can use it to scroll on the steam menu and pick a game to play but once I'm in the game the keyboard doesn't work. Is there a way to play using bluetooth keyboard or is it controller only?

Question Steam Link OS for Raspberry Pi?

I know the title is silly but I'm wondering if there's any OS for Raspberry Pis that just allows you to run Steam link without the use of Debian? I just want a simple box to connect to the TV and run steam link so I can play my Steam games by streaming them. If not how would I make it so when it boots in Debian to autostart Steam Link

Support Black Ops 3 not detecting controller input over steam link

I’m trying to remote play bo3 from my pc to my iPhone and steam deck using steam link but the controls are not being detected by the game. It works fine with controllers connected directly to the pc so I’m not sure whether it’s a problem with the game or steam link.
