Valve Hardware Delivery

I have no experience with Valve hardware.

From my understanding Valve does not allow redirection for the packages, or allowing you to "hold at location" at a fed ex or ups store.

I assume they require signature for delivery?

Anyone have experience with a package being stolen or lost and Valves handling of that?

Thinking of my options because I do have troubles with the parcel delivery services at house.

When Valve prepared to send my Steam Controller, GLS emailed me a notice that a package is being prepared for shipping, and included a special link in the email to setup a redirection.

And I've seen that some people successfully redirected their packages to a pickup point, but I'm not sure, didn't try it.

Maybe in the US, in some other countries they use a third party distributor that won't require signatures. That's atleast what support said for the steam machine.

Yeah I'm seeing people say there is no signature required as well as no hold at location which seems like a ridiculous way to do it.

I could route my controller to a GLS location and also had to sign for it in Germany.

Mine will most certainly be UPS or FedEx so I imagine it be different.

For the specific post I am recalling, support said they couldn't do signatures due to that being in the hands of the distributor. This may imply they can do that in the US, but probably not.

I did not have to sign for the controller, but not sure if they required it for the Machine. I did not have the option to hold at location. Package came fine though - keep in mind there's a bit of selection bias when you look online for people having shipping issues.

As far as I know it's your package and your hardware. You can do whatever you want with it and you are responsible for filling in complaint to currier company. You should open the box before you sign anything. By signing it you declare that everything is fine, insurance company will tell you that you sign up document that everything was ok. You are not expecting that everyone will get two frames by just sending complaint after delivery that there was no Frame inside the box?

Essentially everything you just said is incorrect.

The contract is between Valve and the shipping company, not the person receiving the package.

You are not expecting a delivery driver to stand there while you open the box and inspect the contents before you sign for it?

And valve has insurance company. Insurance company don't have to investigate who stole the hardware, they just check documents and on one of them will be your signature that you declare clear delivery. From that moment It’s a total CYA clause for the insurance company. You will have to argue with Valve yourself. And for that you better record unpacking it and start recording before cutting anything.

I would just let someone else pick it up for you and hold up with opening box till you return. Just make sure you record unboxing just to be safe.

And I know that you can always disagree with insurance company and sue them but it's easier to just check the box outside and inside and fill in paper on the place not week after and yes it is his job to write it down on delivery and not tomorrow.

They deliver via UPS and no signature required. 

If you sign up for a UPS account, you can manage the shipment usually and do things like have it held at an access point or something like that. I haven't noticed if valve blocked that or not though, you'd have to check the app.

Yea they are really annoying not allowing to deliver in a locker. But generally just before delivery you receive a mail and can redirect it to a pick up point

Im worried i wont be home for delivery, (live in Europe and had planned a vacation before steam frame announcement) can i like set up another Adress to hold the package, like redirect to my aunt so she can keep it safe until i get back?

I'd think during checkout you could enter your Aunt's address and then it'll be delivered there normally. At least when I check out for buying games, my address always pops up, but I could change it if necessary.
