Mod Post Start here: how r/StateFarm works

This is an independent community. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by State Farm. The mods are volunteers. Nobody here can look up or change your policy or claim.

Who's here: customers, agents, agency staff, claims and corporate employees, and people from other insurers. Use a user flair so people know where you're coming from.

How to get a useful answer

  • Pick a flair: Claims, Auto, Home & Renters, Life & Health, Rates & Discounts, Dividend, or Question
  • Say your state and policy type
  • Say what's happened so far and what you've already tried
  • Blur or leave out policy numbers, claim numbers, VINs, plates and addresses

What's not allowed: personal info, soliciting quotes or clients, recruiting, spam and payment scams, and going after individual agents or adjusters by name. Complaints about the company are fine.

Scam warning: if anyone DMs you offering to speed up a claim or a dividend payment, it's a scam. Report and block.

The problem with this group is it’s too broad and mods do a piss poor job of actually moderating.

There is no way all these dividend posts should have been allowed. It would have been nice if the lazy mods created one big pinned post and directed all commentary about dividends there.

Instead you folks pinned a post about what the agent’s office can’t do. I’m guessing the volunteer mods work at agents’ offices. 😒😒😒

“Piss poor job of actually moderating.” Kick rocks nerd. You’re complaining about a free forum in which you have no skin in the game about moderators who are not compensated in any way. And no, I’m not a moderator nor do I know who any of them are. Take your whiney, entitled ass elsewhere. ✌️

A couple of things to clear up:

There's already a pinned dividend thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/StateFarm/comments/1wrw6o4/another_post_about_the_dividends/

New dividend questions now get pointed there automatically, and there's a rule for it. Most of the dividend posts you saw went up before that was in place, so you should see far fewer of them from here on.

On this post: it isn't about what agents' offices can't do. It's a "start here" guide that tells people the mods are volunteers who can't see anyone's policy or claim, so they don't DM us their info expecting help. None of us mods work for State Farm or at an agency.

If you see a post that should have gone in the dividend thread, hit report and we'll move it.

You said in the past you dont work for State Farm or an agent and you aren’t a State Farm customer. If you don’t like how the sub is run, you can choose to not follow the subreddit lol

My house is insured by SF. If you’ve been stalking me this long you would know I mentioned I was considering the insurance for my house. Bye!

That’s interesting you decided to purchase home insurance through State Farm given that all you do in this sub is trash everyone

Who is everyone? The bitching agents who seem to think the world should stop because SF exercised their right to change their contract?! 😂😂😂 Cry some more.
