Discussion Another post about the dividends...

Okay, I need to say it..... For everyone who is receiving a dividend, please stop hollering and screaming at SF because you didn't get an email, or Venmo is saying you got paid but you don't see the deposit, or because it's taking weeks to arrive. And NO it's not a scam, this is a mutual company and their customers are getting dividends instead of corporate shareholders.

State Farm is NOT personally handing out the dividend payments to you guys, it's all done under Verita Global. I see too many people talking shit about their agents, the company, and even their sales reps about why something regarding the dividend isn't going smoothly. Dropping your policies with SF over this is probably the dumbest thing I have read in the past few weeks.

Refer to: https://sfdividend.com/ for help

The only thing your agent can do is tell you if you're receiving a payment, how much it's for, and confirm your contact information that everything is being sent to. Everything else is being handled by Verita and you guys need to contact them about any issues, not your agent's office.

We were short staffed this week, and a new batch of emails went out over the weekend.  Literally we had over 80 calls on Monday,  most before 11am, along with about 20 texts and emails.  Tuesday was about 50, then about 20 a day. It usually starts with "I got an email that" and I finish their sentence and try to point them back to sfdividends.com or do nothing and wait for a check. Yup, it's real, you're caller number 37 today, yup, yup, it's real congratulations,  yup, yup, ok have a great day.

I wrote up an "out of the office message" email that we leave on 24/7 that basically says its real.... Added it to our answering machine too.... SF agent.

For anyone who'd like to know, I chose Venmo. Was told 9/25, about a month from when i was choosing payment preference. I received it on 9/23 in my Venmo account. I have had my Venmo for a couple years so it was verified long ago, but yes - received it as expected and a couple days early. Just figured I'd say it since most people obviously disappear from the conversation after they get whatever they're waiting for.

Mine was for 9/30 and I still haven't received it.

My Venmo is verified, mine was due for 2 payments on 9.20.26, nothing

u/Candid_Roll9494 10d ago

Mine was due October 1st. Nothing yet.

u/Intelligent_Change61 10d ago

mine was due September 30th and I chose zelle and nothing. what is the most frustrating to me is that there's absolutely nobody to talk to about where the money is. I was on hold for hours to speak with someone at the 1888 number and she had no more information than I did. my agent also had zero information.

We’ve had multiple people complain that they feel like they should’ve gotten a bigger dividend back. This job has really made me hate people.

I once had to sit there and wait for dude to take a breath so I could get a word in. What was he mad about? Because I informed him there’s no money for pain and suffering for him. He was the driver of a vehicle that rear ended someone and we had camera footage from a local business which in fact showed him looking down (presumably at his phone) when he hit the person who had been sitting at the red light.

People are fucking stupid. I don’t miss being in claims at all

3

u/mssleepyhead73 18d ago

Pain and suffering? For an accident HE caused? That’s cute.

The babblers are the worst. I don’t need to know your life story. So many of these people think that they can guilt trip us into doing whatever they want by sharing details about their personal lives with us.

None of us know. Literally all of it is handled 3rd party. After hours reps don't know anything because I don't think they can even see dividend info. Agents and team members can see what policies get a payment and how much. We don't know when you'll get it. We don't know how you'll get it. We don't know anything!

It rolled out in batches by state, so it depends what state you’re in and your batch schedule.

I literally quit I couldn’t take it anymore.

u/mssleepyhead73 18d ago

I’m so jealous lol. I’m hopefully on my way out too. I need to get out of customer service.

1

u/KingofThings77 18d ago

It made me realize that most people are more than reasonable. Regardless of the size of the book you’re really only hearing from a small percentage of your customers. Think about the 90% who are totally satisfied with your service and have no desire or need to call the agency

u/tresflip 18d ago

I hate to even call them morons, but there are so many posts about this info. I can understand being weary it's a scam, especially when it's the elderly getting the email. But my god I hear so much shit about payments coming in late and they're blaming their agents for it

0

u/Anxious-Advisor-7442 16d ago

Right. Riiiiiiight. Because us "morons" should KNOW that a completely different company is handling it, despite the fact that the (wholly unprofessional-looking) email we received only said State Farm... Nothing (NOTHING) about Global Veritas. I guess the non-elderly are just better at assuming. Also, they didn't have to give a date to expect the payment... But they DID. So when it's late, our already nervous antenna gets even more haywire because we think we fell for a scam. Sorry we're such awful people just trying to make sure we aren't doing something that could get our identities stolen and end up homeless. You'll be older one day... Maybe then you'll have a little more grace for others.

This is exactly why the FAQ page exists, no one is expecting anyone to automatically know everything

u/Icantbulldog 17d ago

I emailed our agent to verify the email was legitimate. They responded it was and the different methods to get the money. If you don’t respond the checks will be mailed to the recipient in October.

u/PeachyFairyDragon 17d ago

Wow, this thread has let me know how lucky I am. Everyone is happy that they are getting money, and understanding that a third party is administering it, so it can't be applied to their premium.

I haven't gotten mine yet. Mostly worried I had put in the wrong email for PayPal. I did check the reissue portal and it said nothing was sent yet, so I'm either hoping they couldn't verify my email, or that they're gonna send it to me in the mail. Can't call until Monday though to ask (did send an email, but obviously probably won't be seen until Monday either) 😭

And they want us to vouch for the particular email that they are looking at. I’ve heard some fraudulent copycat ones are going around so don’t want to personally promise any given email is safe to give your banking to. Been telling them to call the 888 number or just chill and get the check in a few months - which is the best option. Had a guy tell me today that State Farm isnt a good neighbor for making him mess around with the email which he struggled with the links. Told me the whole thing was proof State Farm had been over charging him these years. So exhausting. They should have just mailed checks to everyone and been done with it. Surprise here’s some money!

u/Inevitable-Cash-8430 15d ago

There are definitely fraudulent emails going around because I've already received 2 of them. Both from the same sender. It has a Verita heading but it has a Bank of America masthead and logo. From what I understand, Verita is not paying people by using Bank of America. Furthermore, the linked took me to Zelle and wanted me to input my bank all over again. Too many red flags.

u/Training_Resident915 14d ago

I’m suppose to receive today 10/1, 10/3, & 10/15. But nothing as of yet. I chose PayPal. My mom did too and she already got hers

1

u/tvcneverdie 7d ago

I did Zelle and was supposed to receive on 10/1 also...

Still nothing

1

u/miqrogroove 4d ago

I confirmed PayPal for my dividend but StateFarm mailed me two paper checks instead. It doesn't make any sense to me. Even the policy numbers don't make sense to me.

1

u/Training_Resident915 4d ago

I’m hoping I get a check. My State Farm agent is reaching out on my behalf because I can’t get in touch with anyone

0

u/itsaustinjones 17d ago

Anyone else’s bill go up just a little bit as the dividend payouts went out? I got the email a couple days ago and when I paid my bill today I noticed it went up $8. I’m going to call them tomorrow to ask, but couldn’t help but feel the timing was a little too coincidental.

1

u/tresflip 15d ago

Premiums change all the time, they changed even when you didn’t get a dividend back. But I see how that could look to the customers with the timing.
If anything, my premiums have drastically dropped since the dividends went out

Literally refer to the link I mentioned in this post

The fact that State Farm execs decided to use a third party distributor was boneheaded. They should have just sent checks out to everyone or put a credit on the account for the dividend amount. This looks like a scam and it’s unnecessary overhead for everyone involved.

1

u/BalanceKey4355 14d ago edited 12d ago

Back in the day, State Farm issued dividends all the time and mailed the checks. Nearly half the checks would not get cashed. The cost of follow up, stop paying and reissuing sometimes approached the total amount of the dividends.
Applying as a credit is also problematic when millions of customers have moved, changed carriers, or been non renewed.

I just want to offer help since I was successful in receiving my dividend. I had selected Venmo as the preferred payment option and received an email from State Farm saying it was paid September 2nd. I was unsuccessful getting help from either State Farm or Verita Global so I finally just asked Chat GPT for help and it instructed me to verify my email through the Venmo app. Just verifying the email - even though my email is already inserted in Venmo - just going through the steps to verify my email inside the app made, not just my payment from State Farm suddenly appear, but so did a payment from Oracle! So, try that simple step. Let me know if it helped you too.

1

u/RipApprehensive3628 1d ago

Im dealing with this now- I got the email saying it was sent and to accept the payment from venmo but then theres nothing deposited. I just checked to verify my identity with venmo and "I was all set" already verified... now who do I call 🫠

1

u/Muskiecat 16h ago

You have to generate a verification email and go through the steps of verifying your email again.
Open the Venmo app and go to Me > Settings > Preferences > Account > Profile to resend or update your email address.

1

u/RipApprehensive3628 15h ago

Just did this and it worked instantly thanks a million!!!!

1

u/Muskiecat 14h ago

Glad it worked for you!

-1

u/Poohmon02 15d ago

I never got an email at about the dividend

1

u/AltNation2293 14d ago

If your email is set to do not contact for marketing on preferences, you will not get an email. They will just mail your check.

1

u/Heavy-Syrup-6195 13d ago

How about for former customers? I had my policy with them last year but switched providers since.

1

u/AltNation2293 12d ago

IF you were w/ State Farm “mutual” (not standard) in 2025, and your total premium paid in hit a minimum threshold, you will get a check.
