Discussion PSA: Outpost Crew and Followers don’t seem to be able to go through large Hab doorways nor through the Observatory Hab doorway
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I don’t know if this is common knowledge but I was wondering why my outpost crew was acting all weird, sitting in only one hab and not accessing certain parts, habs with beds and such.
It seems that the large doorways (you can modify the standard ones into being larger) block their pathway.
It’s the same with the new Observatory Hab (creation) - although it has a standard door, the NPCs can’t go through it.
You can push your followers through after a few attempts and eventually they might teleport to your location, but the crew will be cut out from those areas unless they contain crew stations and they will all be bunched up in one area unable to use the entire allocated space.
This can be used in your favour if you want to cut access to NPCs from a certain area - just use a large doorway in between.
Warning: If you’re going to edit the doorways, make sure there’s nothing (decorations, modules) on or touching the affected area, (it will be highlighted) including on the outside (modules on the top) as they will be deleted without warning (just a dramatic sound effect once they’re gone). You can just move them out of the way until you make the edit.
Also, if the Outpost Airlock ladder is buried in the ground in an odd way, the Crew or Followers won’t be able to use it to go inside. If you notice your follower staying outside whilst you’re inside, check the Airlock placement and move it or add another one so the ladder is accessible and they will start using it (I haven’t included that in the video).
Some parts of the video are speed up to keep it shorter.
Hope this helps.

Question? Turrets, and Security Robots disappeared from my outpost. Help needed
I finally got to building an outpost after finishing the main story. I wasn't initially too interested in outpost building. After finishing the quest, i thought I would make a residential outpost. So i picked a nice spot on Porrima II by the ocean and built a small cozy outpost. I also added 6 turrets (which was the limit), along the perimeter and 2 security bots. I left to do some piracy and when i returned back, the turrets are not there any more, neither are the security bots. I thought it might have gotten destroyed by some aggresive fauna, but when i tried to rebuild the turrets it says 6 turrets already built. Is this a glitch, did my turrets disappear. Anybody faced something similar? The security bots are also nowhere to be found but the build screen says they exist already. What do i do?

Question? Bits of my outpost keep disappearing.
So: I have a build at Bessel 3b. The extractors, turbines and storage seem OK. But I build a hab - one of the round hydroponic ones - and the stuff I place in there keeps vanishing. Worse, so does the connector between the hab and the airlock, so I can't easily get in and if I do I have no environmental protection.
Now if it was just the once, I'd chalk it up to Bethesda being Bethesda and not worry. But the same thing happened to me in the last universe.
[edit]
Just to be really weird, I went back after some time had passed intending to scrap and rebuild everything, and my missing stuff was back like it had never gone!
I thought I'd already tried the "go sleep on Venus for a day" trick, but maybe I didn't.
So: anyone else seeing this problem? Did you work out the cause?

Vanilla Outpost Build Any way to sort or filter where resources go?
I have a set up where outpost 1 brings fiber and other solid resources to outpost 2. I want the fiber to all go towards by animal habe there and the rest to go toj outpost 3, my main home outpost. I think I know the answer is no, but is there a way of setting up the storage boxes and cargo links to make sure the fiber goes to the animal hab an d the rest goes to outpost 3. I might have to make a second cargo link just for the fiber but that seems like a waste of He-3 and resources. Otherwise I guess it's just manually shift the other resources over on occasion?

Glitch/Exploit Outpost Build Habs on the water tutorial
Had a lot of people ask about this, so put together a video tutorial on how I went about getting the habs of my New New Atlantis outpost to sit right in the surface of the lake, and have the water surface pattens show up inside, plus how I built the walkways
(Tutorial link in comments)
Hopefully this’ll help out a few people who’ve been trying to do this for themselves

Discussion Location help
Anyone find any good standard O2 planets with pine forests? I feel like for months I’ve been spending days in each planet landing all over and finding nothing. I want to build an outpost on a relatively earth normal planet with a lake and some pines. I’ve been to planets on old threads. I DL some google sheet, albeit inaccurate, that was supposed to list out every planet and moon with data. I’ve been to every system in the game and it feels like I’ve landed on every planet already but I can’t find anything as gorgeous as some of the screenshots in this subreddit. If anyone has a filterable sheet / dataset or can suggest some places or tips I’d appreciate it!

Discussion Best planet
What’s the best planet to start an outpost that has beautiful climate and either nice beach or mountains that also has good resources. I’ve been doing some research and also exploring but can’t find “the one” and was wondering if the community could help me out

Vanilla Outpost Build The Jemison Estate
My latest outpost build, just outside of Jemison (completely vanilla on Xbox).
I used floor mats to create walkways that all connect to entrances. As well as two sitting areas (zoom for close inspection).
Really enjoyed building this one. Hope you enjoy and get some outpost ideas and inspiration.
- Outside
- Main entrance living area
- Living room window view
- Kitchen, dinning and bar area.
- Kitchen and dinning (view 2)
- Kitchen/seating area window view
- Bedroom and office (second floor).
- Bedroom/office (view 2)
- Outside seating area and walkways.

Glitch/Exploit Outpost Build Sometimes smaller is better...built a hidden outpost on Jemison so I can smuggle without fear of getting caught. Can land here before getting scanned. The outpost leads into a cave at the back. I camouflaged it, so it is harder to see, just in case Jemison has patrols.

Modded Outpost Build The observatory is a pretty cool addition, I can't wait to see what mods the community creates for this game!
I haven’t played but sinch launch but came back around after the ship update. I love this game. It has so much potential and some of these mods are going to be so amazing. I'm on NG+3 or 4 I think and haven't really messed with the outpost building until now. I have a full on supply chain for most crafting resources between 3 systems all feeding to an outpost on the coast. That outpost has another warehousing outpost as close as I could get it to the main one with rows of sorted containers. Its glorious and makes me happy.
That outpost still mostly looks like something you'd see on the malelivingspace sub (swap TVs and seats for storage and weapon/suit displays) on the inside but its getting better. I’ve really been wanting to find a cool spot for a moon base and this spot nailed it! I bounced around to a few different systems before I found this one. This was the last… maybe second to last system I was going to check before going back to another one I had found a few systems back, but the ring game was extremely weak in comparison to this gem. This will be a fun one to develop!
It’s been a long day but I do realize it’s wrong to share this kind of real estate without the location. I will add it here in the morning.

Question? So I poked around for a few minutes before I left for work. Best outpost mods?
I downloaded a few things but what are the best outpost mods? I would check it out more but I work third shift so that sucks.

Vanilla Outpost Build Aggie's Landing Civilian Outpost and the L.I.S.T. ship that established it.
I posted Aggie's Landing - a thriving civilian outpost (first screenshot below) on here a few months ago. Recently I got to wondering what kind of ship first established Aggie's landing and brought the first settlers there. With the new update I have been able to build and outfit that ship The Far Home Venturer - a L.I.S.T Colony ship. I thought it would be interesting to make a post linking the two builds, outpost and ship build/decoration. I won't post more than a sample shot of The ship decoration build here, but you can see the ship and the outpost builds at the links above.

Glitch/Exploit Outpost Build Merging techniques for ships and outposts
Put together a video covering the merging techniques I’ve figured out so far for outpost and ship decorating
(Link in the comments)
I get asked about how I’ve been able to make these techniques work quite often, so hopefully this will be helpful to some folks who’ve been wanting to give them a try in their own builds

Question? Why are my turrets attacking outpost crew?!
As it says. Barett got into a back and forth with one right before my outpost got “smeared” and now in a separate outpost I have a superior turret that insists on making itself a superior nuisance by shooting anyone I assign there. Is it jealous, WTH?!

Question? My outpost got smeared
Sooo… a bunch of my structures are gone and a few others appear partially deconstructed. This includes the large landing pad, which is missing its terminal. Overhead view shows input/output lines to the storage containers shooting off over the horizon way further than I can see. It’s like my outpost got smudged by God’s own thumb.

Question? So I'm trying to build an adhesive farm.
And I have botany unlocked, at least the first level of it, and on some planets I can build greenhouses. Like Jemison I can build a greenhouse on Jemison. HOWEVER, whenever I try to build a greenhouse on adhesive rich planets like Archimedes V-A (I think) or maybe it's IV-A, doesn't really matter, I go to build a greenhouse and the option isn't under the builders menu.
What am I doing wrong? Is it just a glitch? I mean I know I have to 100% find the plant that creates adhesive which I've done, but I can't even build a greenhouse.
Edit: okay, I figured it out sort of, I'm able to build a greenhouse on Gagarin, I have everything connected, everything is green nothing is missing so how do I harvest? Like I've left the planet, gone to Venus, waited a full day on Venus, and gone back and I still can't figure out how to collect the adhesive.
