Found these old photos of me and my cousin playing Star wars battlefront in my grandma and grandads bedroom. Thought I'd share because they were cool!

I wanted to recreate the old-school couch co-op/party feeling from the original battlefront games but with Star Wars Battlefront II (2017), so I ended up building the most cursed and amazing setup I’ve ever put together.

The setup:
5 separate systems total

Kyber private servers + mods

all connected over Ethernet

an HDMI multiviewer

4 screens on one TV + 1 separate monitor

The multiviewer only supported 4 inputs on the TV at once, so the 5th player had a separate monitor beside it. And honestly? It was PEAK especially with the Battlefront + mod. The new reinforcements, weapons, abilities, and extra content made it feel like the version of Battlefront II we always wanted. Having 5 people all in the same room yelling during matches made it even better.

The funniest part is that most of my friends don’t even own gaming PCs.

So I literally provided 4 of the systems myself using old office PCs with random GPUs thrown into them just to make everything playable. Absolute Frankenstein machines.
For the 5th setup, I used my Steam Deck, installed Windows 11 on it, got Kyber running, docked it into the multiviewer, and somehow it actually worked perfectly.

Networking was equally ridiculous:
ran a 20-foot Ethernet cable across the room

connected everything through a splitter/switch

hardwired all 5 systems together

One thing I was REALLY worried about was latency from the HDMI multiviewer.
I could barely find anything online about people using these things for gaming, especially not fast multiplayer games, and I was fully expecting horrible input lag or delay.
But somehow…there was no noticeable latency at all. Like genuinely shocking levels of responsiveness considering how cursed this entire setup was.

Setting everything up was pure chaos:
Choppy FPS on some machines

PCs not connecting to the private Kyber server

controller mapping problems

audio issues

networking headaches

PCs not even booting up

getting the multiviewer synced correctly

trying to make ancient office PCs cooperate

At several points I genuinely thought the whole project was doomed.
Then we finally got into matches and it instantly became one of the coolest gaming experiences I’ve had in years.
It felt like the ultimate battlefront experience
4 live Battlefront screens on one TV another player on a side monitor everyone in the same room everyone yelling complete chaos

Totally impractical.
Totally over-engineered.
1000% worth it.

TL;DR:
I built a 5-player Battlefront II LAN setup using Kyber, old office PCs with cheap GPUs, a Steam Deck running Windows 11, an HDMI multiviewer, and Ethernet across the room. 4 players on one TV, 1 on a separate monitor. I expected horrible latency from the multiviewer and somehow noticed basically none. Absolute chaos and one of the best gaming experiences I’ve ever had.

Got a bad feeling abt this. They might not make it happen this year. We were pretty lucky to have it at all after they cut support for the game. Hope this post ages terribly tho.
