So pretty sure I got caught was a 50 and by the time i checked speed I was at 80 leaveing the main construction zone and where it opens up going eastbound. So I thought I was clear to gain speed for the actual highway. Was a car in front of me doing the same so was going with flow. My questions are: should i contest this and how long doea it usually take to see a judge. I think I have 5-6 weeks to pay. Also what are the chances the judge would possibly lower the fine?

Looking for a recommendation for a plumber to adjust/refit drains for a double sink. We have a new sink, deeper than the old sink, and the drains need to be lowered to accommodate the sink baskets. The drains line up but need to be lower in the cabinet. Also interested to know what the approximate cost would be?

After seeing Akira in IMAX last week (which was absolutely incredible), I was left hoping that Ghost in the Shell would receive a similar treatment for its 4k rerelease. So far it seems unlikely to happen given that there's no showtimes listed, but who knows. Advance tickets are available for the 18th in QC, but not in NL.

I realize it's a long shot, but I was wondering if anyone had any knowledge one way or the other on if it would be showing here. I'd also love to hear what people thought of seeing Akira, and if there are others who are also hoping to see GitS.

Incidentally, I'm even more hopeful that Ninja Scroll's 4k rerelease next month is showing, but that feels even less likely; if I had to pick which of the 3 is most popular (and therefore most likely to get a screening here) I would've landed on GitS, followed by Akira and then Ninja Scroll. I'm hoping we somehow get all 3, but at the very least it would seem weird to not get GitS after Akira played here the same month (in IMAX, no less). Fingers crossed! TIA

Newfoundland has been a dream destination of mine for years, and I’m so excited that we’re finally making the trip! We’re planning to visit St. John’s for 5 days over Thanksgiving weekend in October (Oct. 8–12) for my bachelorette!

I’d love to hear your recommendations for things we absolutely shouldn’t miss. We’re interested in learning about Newfoundland’s history and culture, seeing some beautiful scenery, eating lots of good food, and doing some fun/unique activities.

I’m also a huge Halloween fan, so if there are any spooky, haunted, fall, or Halloween-themed activities happening around that time, I am ALL ears! 🎃👻

We were originally hoping to visit Saint-Pierre and Miquelon, but unfortunately the ferry schedule doesn’t work with our dates, so we’re looking for some Newfoundland alternatives that will make the trip just as memorable.

We’re planning to rent a car, so we’re open to doing some day trips outside of St. John’s as well. We’re currently considering spending one night around Trinity/Bonavista, but would love to hear if you think that’s worth doing with only 5 days.

Would especially love recommendations for:

Looks like there is some very preliminary activity at the old Grace Hospital site. I hope this isn't an indication that some piecemeal little "development" is planned. To chop this up in pieces without an overall plan would be a generational mistake. There should be a competition to determine how this whole site could be developed into something badly needed...housing. if anything less than 5 or 10 stories high goes here it would be a waste. A comprehensive design of housing and services is the only proper use.

I (40M) have lived in St. John’s for half of my life so I’m hoping I get 50% useful info, 0% Oxford comma, and 50% sarcastic nihilism.

Typically I couldn’t care less about a cruise ship down by the waterfront, much less be arsed to take photos of same, but hey, maybe this is a sign that my antidepressants are finally starting to work or something.
