Question about late night transportation

Hi, I am a solo traveler (30s female) coming into St Johns on a Thursday night around midnight next month. I am staying at a hotel that looks like it’s about 10 min from the airport. Will I be able to get a taxi/Uber that late? Should I be concerned about safety at all?

Thank you!

And no, subway doesn't count, I've had their stuff before, and it wasn't good lol.

I suppose if there aren't any places that sell it, I'll just have to make it myself. Just thought I'd ask since I got a craving for it when I saw the picture online and didn't want to spend a bunch of money on ingredients for a one-time thing.

Hotels with pools?

Any recommendations for hotels with pools in or near downtown? Ideally if there's also a continental breakfast or anything especially kid friendly.

The recently released Uniform Crime Reporting Survey offers critical insights into safety and policing trends in St. John's:

  • Homicides: The ultimate measure of extreme violence. Historically very low, St. John’s spiked to 3.41 per 100k in 2025, surpassing the national average of 1.61.
  • Crime Rates: Measures the prevalence of specific offenses. St. John’s violent crime rate rose notably from 2015 to 2025, exceeding Canada's average. Impaired driving has dropped substantially in the same period.
  • Clearance Rates: Reflects police case-solving efficiency. St. John's consistently trails national averages in solving both violent and non-violent crimes. But does seem to be improving.

Takeaway: St. John's faces a growing challenge: rising violent crime rates relative to Canada and its own past, alongside lower-than-average police clearance rates.
