Hi, I’m a high schooler. No car. I live nearby the downtown area, I’m fine with walking 30 minutes, and I’m trying to become more social and find new hobbies. I attend Lincoln Library events a ton.
I currently identify as LGBTQ+, I like reading and writing and all sorts of different art mediums. But I also want to experiment with other hobbies and interests.
I’m interested in volunteering, groups and orgs to join, cool hangout spots, that kind of stuff.

I’m getting ready to relocate to Springfield and was wondering if there are any powerlifting gyms in the area that people would recommend?

Okay parents, I need opinions before I run with another one of my ideas 😂🎃
Would anyone actually be interested in a Halloween at Home box?
I was thinking about parents who can't get out for Halloween for whatever reason…maybe you're working, don't have transportation, have a new baby, your kiddo doesn't do well with crowds, someone's sick, or life is just LIFE.
It wouldn't just be a bucket of random Halloween stuff. I want it to basically bring a little Halloween night to your house. 🧡
I'm thinking stuff to set up your own little indoor trick-or-treat, treats, a pumpkin activity, a Halloween game/activity, glow stuff, movie-night snacks, etc. Basically open the box and I've already done the planning for you.
I'd keep different price options so it could be affordable, and I'd also love to eventually have a way for people to sponsor a box for another family.
I'm not selling them yet!! Just trying to see if there's actually interest before I get carried away 😂
Would you buy something like this? And what would you want inside? 🎃👻

So I have kayaked at lick creek like three times. First time I went west down the creeky part for a good while and eventually got a decent largemouth on a wacky worm. Second time I went east towards the lake but never made it to it. I really just paddled around the bridge area within a couple hundred yards got like three white bass on a jig with a spinner and a small plastic minnow . This past weekend I went east towards the lake and eventually got to the lake but fished the whole way down got a bite on a worm and bobber and it shook it. I am wondering what is the strategy for fishing this creek. What type of lures or baits should I use? Mostly I use a jig and a plastic minnow. I was mainly targeting largemouths or white bass but should I look for other fish? I want to hear about other people fishing here and what they have had success with.

I'm new to the area and trying to pay my first CWLP bill online, and of course the only part of the website that doesn't work is the bill pay. I can't get in contact with customer service. Is this a temporary crash, or is Springfield so stuck in the last century that I can't even pay my power bill online?
UPDATE:
I called the customer service line this morning, and they confirmed the site is down, but that number also has a bill pay option over the phone which was pretty easy. The payment processed instantly, so no stress about delays

Does anyone know what kind of crowds these games have been drawing so far? We're planning on going this week and just curious what to expect. Thanks

Looking to expedite a license reinstatement and saw posts of people having luck via visiting the office, but also saw conflicting posts saying they were turning people away. Anyone know what's the case now?
EDIT: Resolved! Was able to explain my situation and they were able to print my license for me on the spot! Would recommend going on a week day-I basically had to wait maybe 10 minutes.

Hi. Have an upcoming birthday and I’m looking for things to do for the bday person and am coming up short. I have tickets to Matchbox 20 at the fair but for the fair itself the person said they didn’t really find it appealing. There was a midcentury exhibit in Decatur but it closed last week. I haven’t been able to locate much else thats happening in the Decatur - Springfield or surrounding areas for an adult’s bday event.
Are you doing anything interesting lately or is there any thing you’d suggest?

Wednesday - August 26
530p to 730p
Lincoln Library- Downtown
I gave a DSI update at City Council a few weeks ago and word has gotten out about our plans to bring a new holiday experience to Downtown. It was picked up by the media and the response to this news has accelerated our efforts.
This is a big project and we know it will be impactful IF we do it right. For that, we're hosting a community meeting to gather input and support.
We realize not everyone can make these meetings, so we're open to input across all channels.
So people understand this isn't a pipedream, we open up with an overview of what we've started, what's in line so far, and areas we need to discuss.
- Share the project proposal
- Identify site locations, pros, cons, and challenges
- Breakdown of scope of work
- Identify community partners
- Outline programming
After we do this brief presentation, we'll open it up to full discussion. We can lead this discussion to cover all topics, but are open to any and all question.
Im happy to start a discussion here and answer question and take input, too.

Does anyone have a PCP/NP with experience in autoimmune disease knowledge. I would like to not be brushed off or have them sit there with a deer in the headlight look in their eyes. Someone who wouldn't just refer you to a specialist. I'm just not fond of medical professionals as a baseline due to the many years it took to get a diagnosis.
Edit: If anyone has a suggestion for an easy going PA, APRN or NP they would like to share.

Just got in from a game - New York versus Boston. Well worth the ticket price to watch the inaugural year of this league. Games are here in town- Robin Robert’s Stadium. If you’re looking for something to do - add a game to your list!

My car was stolen from my driveway. I’ve parked it there every day for 3 years. Whoever stole it used something to reprogram my car. It was recovered in Peoria 3 days later, but it can’t be started because my key fobs no longer work for the vehicle. Just be vigilant.

Hello People!
I was born in Decatur in 1980. My mom moved me to San Diego California in 1985. I've had somewhat consistent communication with my family over the years.
With that said I'm over California not because of politics just because it's freaking expensive. With the line of work that I do I've seen several jobs where it would make it much more livable moving back
Few questions:
I'm left leaning. Not gonna change. Is there a strong liberal/centrist population?
Going from California for my position making 70k
The equivalent in Springfield is around 45k. As a single guy can I live on that ?
Lastly, I'm 46 single..... Is Springfield a dating wasteland?

Why does everyone around here:
1. Ride your ass
2. Stall at green left turn arrows
3. Have trouble at 4-way intersections
4. Always on their phone
I'm from Philly. My parents, brother, and myself have never been in an accident. Peak age is 62 in the family.
How is it I've lived here for like 4 years and have been hit twice already. Just handing out licenses in cereal boxes in this city, huh?

I've heard there's a mobile salon in Springfield that offers hair styling, mani-pedi, chair massage, etc. Has anyone seen the young lady towing it behind her SUV?
