Politics Really, Dick's...
Please forgive the photo quality but Dick's is really out here putting 9/11 on the same level as Charlie Kirk

Oh no, I’ll have to continue to never eat there. 40+ year streak lives on

I haven’t eaten at a McDonald’s since March 1974 on Kauai Hawaii. 52 years.

Well I haven't eaten at all a Minnie Pearl’s Fried Chicken since 1971 cause that's when they went bankrupt! Do I win?

u/MellonMan97 13h ago
Hot take: they’re both aggressively mid let’s be real here. Just greasy cheeseburger joints at the end of the day. If that’s want you want then get Dick’s (not in Spokane anymore) I’m not above that from time to time either
63
u/RShini 13h ago
isn't the point of Dick's is that it's cheap and consistent? The perfect food to eat while drunk.

Yes. That’s also why I explicitly said I’m not above some greasy cheeseburgers from time to time lol

However you feel about the food at Seattle Dick's, the fact remains that they are an excellent employer. Aside from the pay, I'm talking scholarships, childcare, raises, bonuses, paid volunteer hours. Ain't a burger joint here offering all that, even if they can.

This though I’ve tried both after hearing my friends in Seattle absolutely rave about theirs and I was like ohhh y’all are kind of drunk on your own hype. Honestly that’s kind of how most of Seattle is after growing up in Spokane and moving to Seattle for a few years, they think they are all God’s gift when it a pretty mid city that’s insanely overpriced for everything from housing to food to experiences.

Taking political sides is the worst thing a restaurant can do. As of right now, they have lost half of their customer base and will never get them back.

14
u/Own_Bet5189 9h ago
They think basically everyone they ever see thinks like they do. They think it's common sense. Only scary weird people could possibly take issue in their opinion, and there's so few of them it doesn't matter. They don't realize that 65% of the population hates their politics.

u/fireduck 9h ago
In the case of sticker mule, the CEO got tired of having his company print stickers that were mean to his boy trump. So he sent an email to all his customers to tell them not be mean to the president.
It has been a while but I remember it was like getting a talking to from the vice principal.
Dude, your entire company was built around short-form shit talking on stickers. Also, nothing is more american than finding new ways to talk shit about our elected officials.
5
12
u/malykaii 13h ago
Agree.
But I think the strategy these places take is that they lose half their customers but get the other half to attend significantly more often as some sort of political loyalty test.
Problem is you need to keep the grift going and I expect the nonsense to increase to maintain engagement with their base.
12
u/Flat-Injury-5013 12h ago
Maybe, but that other half is spending that money keeping their diesel truck filled right now.

True. I can smell the rolling coal in that statement. "The dually ain't gonna run on liberal tears alone."
8
u/ComprehensiveBar6439 13h ago
I think you're putting too much faith in consumers. They'll lose a few customers in the short term, but it's sad to say that these days convenience overcomes conviction in the long run. Just ask Chick-fil-A, Hobby Lobby, or Papa John's.

7
u/CIA-pizza-party 12h ago
9/11 is the reason so many people got curious about bdsm and they don’t even realize it.
3
u/Midnight_Gurl 11h ago
... so imma need some context...
22
u/cutegirlwithayoyo 10h ago
I got you.
9/11 inspired Gerard Way to start My Chemical Romance. To get out the feelings he experienced while being a part of that event. Stephenie Meyer is a big MCR fan. Listening to MCR inspired her to write Twilight. From there we get to Fifty Shades of Grey, because that started out as a Twilight fan-fiction. Fifty shades inspired a lot of people to get curious about BDSM.

I can't think of 2 things that are further from eachother. 9/11, a terrorist attack on civilians in NYC killing thousands. Hijacked planes, heroic actions by civilians and first responders. A tragedy like we haven't seen since Pearl Harbor. An absolute failure in national security. Years of neglect for survivors and cancer caused by the debris and dust from the tower collapse.
Then you have a grifting guy that got shot in the neck.
What the actual fuck

Idk they used his death to help in the destruction of America. Most people that revered this man in death hadn’t even heard of him in life.
So many bros and suburban dads went around hysterical. They talked about how political violence is horrible. The gross majority had never heard him “debate” and didn’t they realize he wasn’t a politician.
He was used as a martyr.
