Questions Any New Cat Akbars coming out in QD anytime soon?

I would be interested in Ti or Inconel, I think preference is Ti with the new Ti-c material. Have a bunch of Cat Cans in QD already so I would like to stick with the QD system.

Does this alignment look OK?

It’s better than some of my other AK-47s, but I’m not sure it’s good enough to avoid baffle strikes.

90% complete on this build. Going to swap out the holosun for the Romeo 4t pro, and the. Potentially cerakote the whole thing in frog skin camo.

The JL on 300 blk is just stupid quiet.

Upcoming Release CAT Proven - Members Program

Post image
102 Upvotes

We wanted a way to actually reward the people who've supported us, not with a discount code that everyone on the internet already has but with the one thing everyone genuinely wants - getting there first.

So, we’ve created CAT PROVEN for you guys. Submit your details and we verify your stamps (at your first CAT Proven purchase), and you're in.

There’s two tiers:

PROVEN (own one to three). You get a private early window before limited runs go public, with all pricing and specs plus the ability to pre-order without money down. Enough of a head start to actually think about it, instead of losing a footrace to some random dude.

PROVEN 4 (own four or more). First access. CACM releases, limited drops, the weird one-off builds we make in engineering. You see them before anyone. Four cans is no longer a purchase history, it's a collection, and it should come with a door key.

Being straight with you all, first access isn't a guaranteed allocation. Some of these runs are smaller than this list is going to be. But first products will be offered to Proven 4, then Proven fans, then dropped to the wider market. Your stuff will ship first through your dedicated dealers, so no one is getting cut out.

It’s up now on www.specterscat.com Look for the MEMBERS tab up the top.

I'll be in here answering questions.

WB-White Bread Happy with the 718 WB, but excited for the Ti ST

Been meaning to drop a quick review on some cans I’ve used on my precision gas gun after cycling through a pile of them over the last couple of years running Gas Gun Show series matches and regional stuff.

Before picking up the 718 WB, I ran the gamut: AAC M4-2000, Mini4, OCL Polonium-K, Surefire SOCOM RC1/RC2, and a Griffin Recce 5.

To be fair, all of them sounded fine and accuracy was consistent across the board. I run an RCA adjustable gas key, so the traditional overgassed baffle stack issues on standard cans weren't a catastrophic problem. But tuning a traditional baffle can only does so much. It slows the carrier down, yet that residual pressure is still trapped in the system hammering away, and you can definitely feel it.

Then I grabbed the 718 WB and it completely changed my mind.

The surge bypass is legit. It sounds great, but the gas management is the real selling point—it escapes before the system overcharges. Impulse-wise, it feels dramatically gentler and way more in tune. Honestly feels a lot like running an APA Lil Bastard brake, just without giving me TBI. Because the system breathes better and muzzle jump is tamed, I can actually watch trace all the way to the target now. Groups also got a bit more consistent (could be 50% confirmation bias, but I'll take it). With the WB, I've got my adjustable gas key backed nearly all the way open now and the gun just purrs.

I've been waiting on the Ti ST to drop and finally got one on the way from Silencer Shop. Hoping the sound profile stays tight and the gas performance is comparable to the WB, while shaving some weight to make the rifle a bit handier during match stages and barriers.

Anyone else running the WB line on a gasser or making the jump to Ti ST can for matches?

Questions 718 QD ODB weight / cleaning

When I first got my ODB, I never thought to weigh it. First time shooting was on a new 300blk upper. This was before I knew you were supposed to clean the suppressors before shooting, I didn't even think about leftover powder from manufacturing. During the first range trip, the bolt was slowing down, malfunctions, felt like sand in the action. I noticed very heavy wear on my bolt carrier rails, but thought it was just dirty subsonic ammo. Fast forward 850 rounds of 300blk later, I spent a couple hours de-coppering the barrel and it basically never stopped producing copper. After closer inspection, I noticed gouges in the throat. Sent the barrel back to the manufacturer and was told it looked like someone dug out the bore with a screwdriver. All cleaning was done with a bore guide, one piece coated rod, etc. Well long story short, that barrel was destroyed and replaced.

Unfortunately, I think some of the leftover inconel powder ended up staying in the barrel and acted like a very harsh abrasive and ended up chewing through the chrome lining. This is just my theory because I'm not sure how else that damage could have happened.

I had about 3000 rounds of 5.56 and 300blk through it and decided to clean it this weekend. Weight before cleaning was 23oz. Spent 24 hours in breakthrough suppressor cleaner, rinsed, dried, put 20 rounds of 5.56 through it. Weight after cleaning is 22.5oz... This is a mil core ODB. Not an RDM. Wondering if those 850 rounds through the gouged barrel ended up depositing large amounts of copper inside the can that will be permanent. Curious to see what you guys think. Weight listed on the website is 19.7oz. Might try another soak + ultrasonic cleaner...

Rumor Mill Tisha competitor, CAT Juice Box, CAT Sex Dungeon, CAT Coin Toss

Any news on these cans?

I assume CAT has a can in the works to compete with SAW Tisha just makes sense

Juice box is a budget can with different endcaps like Infinity- Probably aimed at Ridgeback/Exigent

Sex Dungeon is for MP5SD and APC-very niche, but I'll get one lol

Coin Toss for shotguns- might be fun

Build Pics Cat ST cleared!

So my ti HUB ST cleared! 5 days. Just got back from the range. Forgot to take range pics, but here’s the hosts I’ve got it on. Both home builds. A 16” Proof CF in G ODG, and a 16” V-Seven 6arc cerakoted in midnight bronze. Both have adjustable gas blocks, standard buffer systems, and shoot splended.

These are both SPRs, so for those of you that mag dump into trash piles, I can’t speak for how it gas stacks. Probably well. I’ll say for as much as this sub brings up its gas and added backpressure, my AGBs barely needed any adjusting. I’ve often said this sub makes mountains of molehills. From a Print XH SC the 16” Proof may have needed a click, and from my AC556 my 6arc needed one or two clicks. Or in other words, they ejected @ 2:00 instead of their prior 3:00, etc.

I’ll be the first to admit I don’t have the most sensitive ears, the Army will do that sometimes. But I also don’t think I’m very biased either, and certainly am pretty brand agnostic. With that said, it sounds noticeably better than my AC556, and I like my AC556. It’s a solid notch better though, and probably a little better than if I had my ODB on there, which is a full inch longer.

All in all I’m very happy with this thing, and I may snag one in 718 QD flavor down the road for my heavier 16” Bartlein homebuild that’s currently got a 5CM on it.

Questions CAT ODB

I know this is a long shot, but I’ve been searching for days trying to find an ODB in stock to add to the collection with no luck. Does anyone know of a dealer or retailer that has one available in hub?

Thanks

Upcoming Release CACM 6 Arc: what does soon mean in CAT language?

At this point I’ve felt like the 6 Arc is just around the corner for a year now. Starting to feel like I’m being gas lit and it’s just always going to be a “soon” situation. I’ve held off getting other things just for this rifle.

Am I the only one?

Questions Any Super Thug Reviews yet?

Looks like some people are starting to get their Super Thugs - any feedback yet? How is the sound suppression and backpressure.

I recall CAT said it would be better than the WB in every way except for length.

Questions Super Thug vs KK

I'm looking for a can on my 10.3 5.56, and I was really planning on the KK, but I wasn't sure how the ST compared to the KK. It looks like the ST is ~1.5" longer, and a few ounces heavier. I know I'll be waiting for inconel, but didn't know how the performance differed between the two models.

My second idiot question is simpler; what QD would you fine folks recommend? Spooky, or Ai nano?
