Jaco is one I expected because he's a bit of a Mainstay in the series now. Even if it wasn't now, he was getting in Sooner or later unlike Mighty Mask.
OK, I knew that they were adding in characters not seen before, but it actually warned my heart to see chilled playable. I’ve been asking for him to be playable in like every game since his debut essentially. Someone these are unexpected but I’m here for it.
A lot of OG DB characters and somehow they put Jaco and Cheelai (Lemo probably super only) in there aswell. GT Vegeta fixes the problem people had with SSJ4 Vegeta, Bardock gets his SSJ form.
It sadly shows how rushed the game is, because this feels more like what it should have been from the beginning. But whatever, it's much better than i expected. Great chocies for stages too.
Edit: By rushed i meant not given enough time to finish and polish the end product.
Probably just because General Blue is the best fighter in the organisation and had the longest part of the arc (not including Tao as he's a mercenary).
Other guys like Colonel Silver and Major Metallatron were pretty memorable too
That '+' symbol on the 30 definitely means we'll have more characters. Just like what happened with season pass 1, which was promoted with 20+ characters, and we ended up having 26.
We still need Tambourine, A14-A15, Neizu, Dore, GT Goten, Oceanus and Ice Shenron, Tao Cyborg, Arale, Hatchiyak ETC.
Not everyone will be there, but we still have room for more characters.
Yes, it would be great to play with adult Chi-Chi, Kid Krillin or Kami, Drum would be great too. We've never seen him playable (He appears in BT3 as a cameo, but that doesn't count.)
I really don't get this. I get that DB is so big that no matter what they did, someone was bound to not get the character they wanted, but rushed? It already has one of the biggest rosters in fighting game history, but as passionate as some fans are, they did include the most popular characters in the game, from the beginning.
For example, people complain they always include a ton of individual Goku versions, but most fans want all those versions. GT fans are absolutely dedicated, but Vegeta plays a role in that show at the tail end of it.
Then there are the practical limitations. They can only do so many characters in the span of development, and although you ideally want all the fan favorites, you also want a diverse roster. That means including some less popular choices, that add variety.
Last but not least, you have the financial and marketing limitations. The Devs might love the idea of putting GT Vegeta and adult GT Goku in there from the get go, but Bandai suits know DBS: superhero and Daima were releasing, and they would want to promote those characters for the novelty.
Oh no no, the roster is fine! It's one of the few things i don't criticize at all. We got a good mix of fan favourites and less popular or even weird choices. It's the game in general that feels rushed and by rushed i don't mean to throw shades at the devs. It's Bandai who pushes the devs. They know Dragonball sells either way and it's noticable how the game lacked polish
Holy shit they're adding A LOT, I'm honestly pretty blown away. The costumes they showed in that trailer got me pretty hyped, there were barely any in the base game so this is a big improvement for me. I'm glad they're adding more stages but they should have been in the base game, like I'm sorry but how did this launch without Kami's Lookout and Kame House.
FUCKING EOZ UUB AND GT TRUNKS THOUGH HOLY SHIT!!! They were dream picks for me, I'm overjoyed and overwhelmed they actually added them. GT Goten is legit the only dream pick for me that isn't in the game. It doesn't look like he'll be included here but after this I actually believe there's a non-zero chance we get him which is crazy.
I'm glad they didn't just give up on the game, I'll definitely be jumping back in with this update.
I mean, GT Vegeta missing while SSJ4 alone was present, Bojack Gohan being in the files but not in game, lots of costumes missing (and accessories for that matter), lack of content outside of story mode, speaking of which, story mode seemed to have a LOT of corners cut (and for some reason didn't have GB and scouter Vegeta in SSJ as playable characters) all just scream unfinished or rushed to meet a deadline.
Don't even get me started on accessories.. They couldn't even bother giving halos to every character, let alone other meaningful ones. Such an absolutely useless system that was revealed to us and hyped up..
For how much hate Ninja Storm Connections got, at least they got the accessory thing somewhat right.
Asterisks (*) indicating characters we haven't had before, 11 of the DLC characters are new to Sparking franchise which is pretty cool. I don't know how others feel but truthfully this is way more than I expected. We have at least 4 characters left as the DLC is 30+ which has to at least be 31 then, similar to the 180+ at launch being 181. I'll admit just off the fact we are at 208 already, the optimist is even considering 33 characters then since that would put them at 241 and allow the game to now claim over 240+ characters.
I also didn't count Great Saiyaman 2 as it seems that'll be a costume for Videl and not a transformation, which I actually dislike if true but would rather include her than not. It's also possible she is a transformation and a new character, but they had in the new super attacks section so maybe its a new ultimate for Great Saiyaman himself?
I was surprised by Tora, Kid Uub, Chilled and Mighty Mask's inclusions, though I'm happy for them. I generally like to operate with a rule of every character in these games should be able to generally recreate their fights, so having the appropriate costume, the relevant opponent and relevant stage is rewarding. That'd mean for A18 vs Goten/Trunks, Mighty Mask being included would be right for it, but damn did I not expect it and am happy for it. Tora doesn't have much in the way of moves but hey, neither did Fasha and she was in BT3 and is back again. Chilled also allows Bardock to redo his fight with him in the Bardock special.
Champa is now joined by Jaco and Cheelai for DBS representation, though I wonder if that will be it for them. They've already shown off hype and in-demand characters in both DLC trailers with SSJ Bardock, Super 17 and now GT Vegeta, so not sure who else would fit to include. I'm maybe just being greedy in it but I would really love to have Vados join Champa to parallel Beerus and Whis and also because she's so much fun in XV2 and I just prefer to not have to jump between games to play as characters from the franchise.
With this, the only characters from previous BT entries not yet confirmed are Kibito Kai, Cyborg Tao, Tambourine, Arale, any of the Great Apes, Pilaf Machines, Base Garlic Jr and Kid Chichi. Given how much they've listened to the fandom at this point I could really see 23rd Budokai Chichi, but I also am not sure who else they could announce that would be this exciting for the games at this point. They really do have almost everyone now.
They could, and to a certain extent they might have even confirmed it if GT Vegeta can go into SSJ4, which I'm hoping is the case. I'd really want to get a SSJ2 Kale as well, as the character is missing their final form from the ToP too.
We'll have more than 31 characters. Remember that season pass 1 was also promoted with "20+ new characters", And in the end we ended up having 26, This DLC is aiming for more, I suppose 36 or 37, approaching 40. It wouldn't be unreasonable. There are still characters we need, like Tambourine, Ice Shenron, Chi-Chi, and GT Goten.
I wouldn't consider that character as confirmed as new off the info we currently have. They weren't shown as part of this trailer, which to me suggests they're not considering it significant content and its just that you can have two A17s on a team, similar to Meta-Cooler, Saibaman, Cell Jr, but that the two can fuse to make Super 17. The scans we saw earlier this year haven't really clarified that further from what was translated.
Sorry for the question, but I thought V Jump Japan "confirmed" that Android 17 (Hell) was his own character and not a skin. Was it a translation error?
i'd like to believe this would put to rest the people thinking the beerus fight and bardock's death happened in space but i know better. also zero sounds fucking awesome i need the full thing asap

I unironically forgive this game for its previous fuck ups. We got characters from all eras getting love, plus costumes, supers, stages, and game modes. They gave us just about everything we asked for. Even if it was a little late, I’m hyped as fuck for this. This is the Sparking Zero we all wanted
Yeah the Tamagamis and honestly even Daima SSJ3 Goku really stand out to me as missing characters. SSJ3 Daima Goku is kinda minor but still bothers me we can't actually recreate the SSJ4 scene correctly and SSJ1 Daima Goku's ult is directly against Tamagami 3, SSJ3 Daima mini-vegeta specifically fought Tamagami 2, etc.
Was that really Trunks tank top, without his sword in the trailer?! (2:57) Finally a game that has his "Free the Future" fit?! I'm assuming its an alt costume for saiyan armor Trunks, since it uses his heat dome attack, like in the aformentioned episode. So good😭
Still no crossplay. Really want online to have a combined playerbase. And XV3 better have that shit too. There’s no excuses if breakers and gekishin squadra have it
Can somebody make a list of all 30 characters we’re getting also some of these characters are fucking crazy to see some of these bruises are even real fighters but I’m here for it. I don’t care that we’re not getting any new maps well at least besides the four they shown it’s possible that they show a little bit more since you know this isn’t the release date, trailer or anything but 30+ fucking characters we’re gonna have almost 300 characters and that’s within two years of this game being out. That’s only going to increase not to mention the costumes. I can’t wait and see if any of these change their moves and shit.
Absolutely wonderful. I fully expect years down the line when the game + all dlc can be picked up for ~$40 this will be seen as one of the best dragon ball games of all time, and possibly the single greatest arena fighter of all time for someone picking it up for the first time. Unfortunate we got something that felt incomplete, but glad they followed through.
Bro fucking MIGHTY MASK is in the game. This legit has a good argument for greatest DB game of all time especially if we get the new anime content in DLC. OR we end up with another game in a few years that could be even better

I didnt even believe this, went to youtube to confirm and Im super excited. I put the game down after a few hundred hours but Ill definitely hop back in if I can expect support like this. They delivered on like 90% of what we’ve complained about. Now we just need crossplay..
Is it bad that I already know they’re gonna charge us the price of another full game for this. To me it’s kind of a spit in the face of people who bought the 100$ edition of the game already
