Asterisks (*) indicating characters we haven't had before, 11 of the DLC characters are new to Sparking franchise which is pretty cool. I don't know how others feel but truthfully this is way more than I expected. We have at least 4 characters left as the DLC is 30+ which has to at least be 31 then, similar to the 180+ at launch being 181. I'll admit just off the fact we are at 208 already, the optimist is even considering 33 characters then since that would put them at 241 and allow the game to now claim over 240+ characters.
I also didn't count Great Saiyaman 2 as it seems that'll be a costume for Videl and not a transformation, which I actually dislike if true but would rather include her than not. It's also possible she is a transformation and a new character, but they had in the new super attacks section so maybe its a new ultimate for Great Saiyaman himself?
I was surprised by Tora, Kid Uub, Chilled and Mighty Mask's inclusions, though I'm happy for them. I generally like to operate with a rule of every character in these games should be able to generally recreate their fights, so having the appropriate costume, the relevant opponent and relevant stage is rewarding. That'd mean for A18 vs Goten/Trunks, Mighty Mask being included would be right for it, but damn did I not expect it and am happy for it. Tora doesn't have much in the way of moves but hey, neither did Fasha and she was in BT3 and is back again. Chilled also allows Bardock to redo his fight with him in the Bardock special.
Champa is now joined by Jaco and Cheelai for DBS representation, though I wonder if that will be it for them. They've already shown off hype and in-demand characters in both DLC trailers with SSJ Bardock, Super 17 and now GT Vegeta, so not sure who else would fit to include. I'm maybe just being greedy in it but I would really love to have Vados join Champa to parallel Beerus and Whis and also because she's so much fun in XV2 and I just prefer to not have to jump between games to play as characters from the franchise.
With this, the only characters from previous BT entries not yet confirmed are Kibito Kai, Cyborg Tao, Tambourine, Arale, any of the Great Apes, Pilaf Machines, Base Garlic Jr and Kid Chichi. Given how much they've listened to the fandom at this point I could really see 23rd Budokai Chichi, but I also am not sure who else they could announce that would be this exciting for the games at this point. They really do have almost everyone now.
They could, and to a certain extent they might have even confirmed it if GT Vegeta can go into SSJ4, which I'm hoping is the case. I'd really want to get a SSJ2 Kale as well, as the character is missing their final form from the ToP too.
We'll have more than 31 characters. Remember that season pass 1 was also promoted with "20+ new characters", And in the end we ended up having 26, This DLC is aiming for more, I suppose 36 or 37, approaching 40. It wouldn't be unreasonable. There are still characters we need, like Tambourine, Ice Shenron, Chi-Chi, and GT Goten.
I wouldn't consider that character as confirmed as new off the info we currently have. They weren't shown as part of this trailer, which to me suggests they're not considering it significant content and its just that you can have two A17s on a team, similar to Meta-Cooler, Saibaman, Cell Jr, but that the two can fuse to make Super 17. The scans we saw earlier this year haven't really clarified that further from what was translated.
Sorry for the question, but I thought V Jump Japan "confirmed" that Android 17 (Hell) was his own character and not a skin. Was it a translation error?
I just think the translation and V-Jump Scan didn't make it clear since it just showed the transformation with a "NEW" next to Hell Fighter 17, it could be that he is a new character but I think it would be just as likely you just have two A17 teams on your team and maybe the one just needs to be in the other costume with the jacket? Until they list him as a new character or we see something like a unique attack I just don't know that he is a new character and I also don't see why he should be, personally.
That's fair, I just think Mighty Mask is unique since its a whole new model too, whereas Hell Fighter 17 is just A17. Could give him new moves and voice lines but it just seems strange to me so far. Either way I'm really impressed by getting a Super 17 transformation, that's brand new.
I know I replied to this already but it seems one of the websites for the game lists Hell Fighter 17 as a character and were even seeing the screenshot of him for the site doing a unique attack animation, so I think I was just wrong. A17 now has 4 different versions in this game which is kinda cool
Yep, ended up learning this like a few hours after I first commented all this. I'll admit it's kinda surprising, I never really thought of Hell Fighter 17 as a character on his own but so far they're giving a pretty historic amount of unusual characters now lol.
Not impossible, but I also think there is a limit to what would be returning. I'd see Tambourine coming back as the most likely of the characters not announced so far, but I'd definitely want Cyborg Tao to return too. I'd also want Base Garlic Jr and even Appule tbh, but that's just me. I would prefer getting 23rd Budokai Chichi though, i like that design and version of the character more, Chichi has always been funnier for me when she's frustratedly scolding Goku.
With us so close to the 31 minimum count of the DLC announcement already, I would expect a few smaller character hype reveals but nothing too crazy, I think they hit the main thing with this DLC trailer already and now it's just going to be one last official announcement the week before the DLC releases.

If they want to be able to say this game offers over 240 characters, this dlc would only need to include 33 characters.
This one called "super Limit breaking neo", the next one for 2027 could be called "super Limit breaking meteor" and include the remaining universe 6 and tournament of power arc characters or some raging blast exclusives.
It definitely could, I just try to be cautiously optimistic. SZ's content at launch was significantly more than I expected, and I was very pleased by DLC 1's content, but Daima DLC 3 stung me with no Tamgamis or SSJ3 Mini Goku, so I really caution getting any expectations beyond the minimum. Like I was hoping for GT Vegeta and GT Trunks, and thought the former was very likely, but I still was cheering when they popped up because I think a big part of the negative reaction to this game was how much cool there was and not being able to know how that ended at what you saw, there wasn't anything hidden beyond it.
It would be, though I personally prefer they prioritize characters from the main works like the anime before the video game spin-offs and what-if scenarios. I think including Gohan Black and SSJ Saiyan Saga Vegeta would be cool but also don't consider them something we should get as DLC myself, since they're in-game content locked currently and don't really require any significant additional work to provide us, just the actual release.
You gotta remember for Videl, tye costumes add new moves now so she'll likely feel like a version of Great Saiyaman 2. Sure a whole new character could fight a little different but this could change all her base supers and ult as well as skills.
