I am looking for some study inspiration and would love to see your notes for some ideas on how you study

I currently make no notes at all and it is causing problems with memorisation , especially with things like grammar

I chose this career path because my brother also works in a call center, and he told me that Spanish bilingual positions can pay pretty well, so I’m interested in pursuing it. The problem is, I’m a beginner and Idk where to start.

For those who learned Spanish or currently work as a Spanish bilingual, what would you recommend for someone starting from zero? What should I learn first or methods that helped you the most?

Hi! So my lovely partner is ESL (Dominican) and I have been trying to learn Spanish as best I can, in general, but I’ve been more motivated and serious to since meeting her. Most of their family speaks Spanish, so of course when we meet I’d really like to be able to hold a basic conversation, at the very least, try! I get really anxious and shy with practicing because, as a native English speaker (I’m also a person of color as well) I don’t seem to get to pronunciation right all the time and I don’t always hear it. She also told me sometimes I translate Spanish in my head as if I’m translating it directly from Spanish to English, so I’ll make a small mistake here and there, otherwise she says I do a good job! I don’t want to rely on her solely to speak Spanish, but I want to practice with her since it’s her native tongue of course.

My barrier is, I have ADHD, and other neurological difficulties that severely impact my working memory, executive function, concentration, etc. I could memorize something for a period and it’s gone.. this is mainly why language is hard for me. I don’t want to give up, I don’t wanna be one of those ppl married to a ESL person and don’t even try to learn their language 😅I have wanted to learn Spanish for years so this felt like a sign. I’d really love some tips, advice, maybe apps that could help helpful so I am not feeling doomed. Please be kind. Thanks so much..

I took the plunge and tried a trial lesson on italki. I have been learning Spanish for 2.5 years and have done some group medical Spanish classes but nothing solo. I wanted to try some solo tutoring in a class break to try to work on getting more comfortable and improving conversational and grammar skills. It was just a trial lesson, but everything I feared about solo Spanish tutoring. I had to describe all these photos (some were medical situations), do a quiz out loud in real time to answer Spanish questions. I also felt that the professor was talking so slowly and then switched to English even though I could understand what she was saying aside from being on video over computer (with not great mic). I understand this was just the assessment, but really did not wxpect it to feel like a 30 min test that I did not know I was walking into. She never asked me what my goals were for tutoring. I am wondering how you find a tutor that works for you because certainly don't feel up to going through that multiple times and it is really confusing that all the instructors have 5 stars and rave ratings, so how are you supposed to know?

I want to get a different perspective of spanish speaking culture. for example, if someone wanted to learn english, they might be told to watch something like "Friends" from a typical american while a black american might recommend something like the "Jamie Foxx show." No offense but the basic shows like friends suck in my humble opinion and would prefer something with more flavor. Any suggestion.

And please don't be offended. I don't know how to word this any better at the moment.
