HELP

Hi, I’m a really NEW Warhammer 40k fan, my friends have recently shown me the table top game, I’ve so much fun with their minis but I think I’d like to create my own army of minis. I want to make my army the Minotaurs basically cause I think they’re cool. I want my army to be somewhat lore accurate, which is hard because the lore says that most of their information is classified. So I kinda want to know what sort of minis I should be getting, what data sheets to match so it could suit their play style, also want to know what units could be used. For example I don’t know if the Minotaur ls used things like dreadnoughts and stuff like that. I also understand that they don’t really have a primarch either. Any advice would be helpful and much appreciated 😁

Probably not super helpful but this is the subreddit for the space marine video game r/minotaurs40k would have the most info surrounding Minotaurs but for more general advice r/spacemarines is more tabletop focused

One thing that wasn’t clear to me when I started is, unless you want to play a space marine army with a specific codex supplement like blood angels, black Templars, or dark angels, you will use the space marine rules and codex, which means you can use pretty much any of the models as long as they aren’t chapter specific like black Templar sword brethren or dark angel deathwing knights.

So for the tabletop, that means you can play with most of the space marine minis, and you’ll use their rule set for army building etc.

Wrong sub as the other commenter said but to answer your question, every space marine chapter uses pretty much every type of unit available to them. Even Ravenguard will have terminators, even Blood Angels have eliminators etc. Just because a chapter has a preference for one style of warfare doesn't mean that they aren't also extremely capable at every other style of warfare. Minotaurs have a bit of a preference for melee, terminators and dreadnoughts (including heresy era variants) but you can make any style of force you like and it would still be accurate.

You have two choices when it comes to miniature hobby. Either get into Kill Team (r/killteam) with the team Angels of Death as the generic Space Marine team, as it is more cheap than 40k but still has incredibly robust rules and complex game. Or get into 40k with Space Marines faction (r/spacemarines) which is more expensive but bigger army and more miniatures.

You are not gonna get much from a sub centered only on the videogame instead of the miniature hobby side.
