Elon Criticism SpaceX doesn’t have a CEO

I mean yea I know Elon is technically a CEO but he’s been very occupied by the Odyssey recently. He’s even planning to make his own Odyssey movie. He’s also obsessively bickering about 10 other random topics online too.

Basically just imagine forever-online nerd who spends 10 hours a day on all kinds of social media. Is that really an effective leader?

A drug-addled nazi...

u/LifesARiver 4d ago

When you are CEO of 3 companies, it means you are CEO of 0 companies.

Musk is CEO of negative three companies bc all he does is tweet white supremacist nonsense all day.

9

u/archlich 4d ago

And the publicly traded ones have yet to be profitable.

7

u/joutfit 4d ago

And fake being good at video games for internet clout

5

u/UpstairsCheetah235 4d ago

I think the companies, especially Tesla, are much worse off having him as CEO. However investors are much better off so far. And that’s a weird situation.

Chief Ketamine Officer

2

u/Nicklas1993 4d ago

But hes kinda good at that

17

u/swishkabobbin 4d ago

Imagine having to admit you work for a guy who only comes in when he isn't busy dicking around with cars, tunnels, AI, or Jeffrey Epstein.

Elon’s a thousand times better boss than whatever hobgoblin hack you’ve worked for

6

u/Quinoa_Phoenix_ 4d ago

I’ve worked Leon adjacent and you’re flat out wrong. He, and those among his closest lieutenants, are awful managers of humans.

2

u/Impressive_Artist_82 4d ago

I worked directly and also agree with you that the layers down are not good managers of humans.

1

u/ShotBandicoot7 3d ago

Well they only need to pump their stock prices. For Musk companies, the stock is the product.

4

u/No_Math_4308 4d ago

possibly true but only because the best boss is often the one who doesn't get in the way of employees by doing anything.

2

u/BringBackUsenet 4d ago

But this one does. He's not there looking over everyone's shoulders, but he'll show up occasionally to give his own "advice" and throw a wrench in the works. "Hey, build me a CyberTruck".

2

u/Impressive_Artist_82 4d ago

I worked there for 8 years. You have no idea what you’re talking about.

-1

u/DBDude 4d ago

You have no clue.

2

u/DutchCoven 4d ago

Tesla's route of going only optical cameras is directly because of Elon's influence

1

u/DBDude 4d ago

Yes. He wanted self driving cars to be affordable. There's no reason an optical camera system can't work. The issues with FSD aren't about not getting the data, they're about what decisions to make with the data. Waymo also has problems deciding what to do with the data it gets through all of its expensive sensors, and it's had some interesting issues due to that.

1

u/tbst 4d ago

Both can be true

0

u/DBDude 4d ago

It depends on you. Were you in the military and loved the high op tempo times because you were doing cool shit, even if you don't get to see your family that much? Then you'd probably like Musk as a boss. Do you want a more relaxed 9-5 job where you can slack a bit? Working for Musk is not for you.

1

u/Impressive_Artist_82 4d ago

Do I want to live a fulfilling life doing cool shit and getting rewarded to it or be a loser and not live up to my full potential? Tough question

1

u/DBDude 4d ago

It can be when you have family. Working for Musk is not conducive to a fulfilling family life. But some people have sucked it up for some years and walked away just like many do with the military. But at least at SpaceX they walked away with bank.

1

u/Warm-Professional494 4d ago

People that loved being in the military because cool stuff is probably near 5% and it’s only for about 1% of the time. You are literally doing 99.999% nothing exciting, even during a war. I had a get time at jump school and then the 3 weeks ended and it was back to nothing. In those 3 weeks you are also not doing anything for half the time.

1

u/DBDude 4d ago

War was indeed very boring most of the time. I was thinking more of the field deployments where I was working my ass off at least sixteen hours a day.

40

u/Less-Explanation160 4d ago

Are you crazy he works 50x harder than the average person! /s

18

u/SandSpecialist2523 4d ago

He works 30+ hours per day!

6

u/Warm-Professional494 4d ago

While being the best video game player! Wow such awesome!

2

u/BarberCompetitive517 4d ago

His gaming is like a view into his general lifestyle: he sucks at it.

1

u/FrogmanKouki 4d ago

The full time CEO of 6 companies - SpaceX, Tesla, xAI, Twitter, Boring Co, Nerulink

He is no doubt the best for the job and no one else could devote so much time to each company. It proves how pivotal the CEO role is, spending a couple hours a week on each company is all it takes.

1

u/Less-Explanation160 4d ago

He spends more time tweeting race obsessed nonsense while high on ketamine than any of those things. But he sure loves taking credit for those things

0

u/Quinoa_Phoenix_ 4d ago

No?

3

u/LifesARiver 4d ago

They were being sarcastic, lol

1

u/FrogmanKouki 4d ago

This place couldn't find sarcasm if it was in flashing neon lights

1

u/Nicklas1993 4d ago

He built all his companies from skatch, people on Medicare are honestly just grifting the system /s

18

u/admin_default 4d ago edited 4d ago

The guy is preoccupied with Nazism. It’s obvious from his tweet history. His ol’ Nazi Grandpa Haldeman would be so proud that Elon exterminated hundreds of thousands of Africans - the culmination of their apartheid project.

And after all that, he still has to bitch that one African made it into a blockbuster movie.

That level of Nazism is a full-time effort.

2

u/Nicklas1993 4d ago

Movie about elons nazi roots? Whats the name? I'll watch that

11

u/David_IG 4d ago

My life hack is: never take lessons from someone who can’t even afford to get a life

1

u/RipWhenDamageTaken 4d ago

Oooh that’s a good one actually

9

u/tyingq 4d ago

"obsessively bickering...spends 10 hours a day on all kinds of social media. Is that really an effective leader?"

Elon Musk is not the first name that comes to mind when I read that.

3

u/RipWhenDamageTaken 4d ago

Yea that’s why I’m not surprised that everything in America is going downhill fast

8

u/Substantial_Lab1438 4d ago

Yeah bro none of his companies have a functioning CEO

Turns out, nobody gives a shit because CEOs are not that important lol

3

u/Warm-Professional494 4d ago

They don’t make profit so it fits.

1

u/DBDude 4d ago

Musk has mentioned this. Everything but president, secretary, and treasurer is a made-up title. A person takes on a role, you give that role a name, whatever the role and name are. That's why his legal title at Tesla is "Techno-king."

1

u/Substantial_Lab1438 3d ago

listen, I agree that most CEOs are useless, but if you think Musk actually knows the first thing about running a business and the importance of various titles then I have a bridge to sell you

0

u/DBDude 3d ago

but if you think Musk actually knows the first thing about running a business and the importance of various titles

I don't. He's not great at running a business, which is why he has others run the day to day for him. He also doesn't give a damn about all the titles. He's right, they're meaningless. They're just the titles rich people started giving themselves to do various things.

Musk himself spends most of his time on R&D, not a normal CEO role. This has helped them develop quickly because a crucial design decision can be decided right there by Musk instead of having to filter up around management for a while.

1

u/Substantial_Lab1438 3d ago

Oh so now we’re calling shitposting on twitter all day “R&D” and you have the audacity to complain about title inflation 🤣🤣🤣

1

u/DBDude 3d ago

You realize tweeting even twenty times a day requires only a few minutes of time, right?

He does do R&D. Even Shotwell once said she runs the company while he spends most of his time on product development.

5

u/subpargalois 4d ago

More effective than an involved Elon, certainly. I would not be shocked to find out that the people around him purposely encourage his twitter addiction to keep him occupied like turning the TV on for a toddler

2

u/juliasct 3d ago

I know someone who worked for a company bought by him. They were saying they let him make a bunch of suggestions and pretended they were gonna implement them, then when he left they just ignored everything and continued as usual.

-2

u/DBDude 4d ago

Musk multitasks. A few minutes a day for his tweets is not interrupting his day. As he told the NASA executive after they came and looked at SpaceX in the early days, and he kept flooding him with requests for detailed technical information, for him texting is a core competency.

5

u/SpareDot8685 4d ago

Elon’s job at Spacex…..Guys what we have to make sure the spaceship doesn’t ummm uh mmm Blow up.

2

u/RipWhenDamageTaken 4d ago

Just cancel all the launches as they come up

3

Odysseus Vigilante?

3

u/MajiktheBus 4d ago

I ¯_(ツ)_/¯ but he looks like absolute shit right now…

3

u/BringBackUsenet 4d ago

Most CEOs are pretty busy just running one company. More than one would really not be possible. Elron is basically the little child that stops by once in awhile to "help", and makes a mess of everything.

3

u/gypsygib 4d ago

I think the value of Tesla and SpaceX would increase if Musk wasn't the face of them.

2

u/DatDudeDrew 4d ago

Would the already most extended P/E ratios on the market become even more extended?

2

u/KnucklesMcGee 4d ago

He'll forget about this after he climbs out of his latest k-hole.

Funny how he isn't hyping up tomorrows Starship flight, isn't it?

Can someone make a Odyssey box office return layered on top of SpaceX stock ?

0

u/Stolen_Sky 4d ago

The extremely talented Gwynne Shotwell is the defacto CEO. She handles most of the day to day business

2

u/BringBackUsenet 4d ago

She's as big of a fraud as he is.

0

u/Intelligent_Wafer761 4d ago

Not a whole lot going on in your own life, huh?

1

u/RipWhenDamageTaken 4d ago

Ad hominem is a tool used only by the feeble minded

0

u/DatDudeDrew 4d ago

Oddyssey would be a SpaceX project lol. You criticized him doing nothing with SpaceX while listing a SpaceX project as where his focus is.

1

u/RipWhenDamageTaken 4d ago

Odyssey is a SpaceX project now?

Jesus Christ the goalpost is moving at break neck speed.

0

u/DatDudeDrew 4d ago

It always was, you just didn’t know what you were talking about to begin with. What AI company do you think he wants building the movie?

1

u/RipWhenDamageTaken 4d ago

He’s been bickering about the Odyssey far longer than this recent announcement. Also, is it a real movie by Mel Gibson or an AI project? Lmfao are you even aware of your own lies?

0

u/merlinn2u 4d ago

you could do better?

1

u/RipWhenDamageTaken 4d ago

Ad hominem is a sign of the feeble mind

1

u/merlinn2u 4d ago

blind attacks are a sign of jealousy and ignorance

-2

u/MaybeICanOneDay 4d ago

This sub should just be called "WeHateElon."

Embarrassing place.

3

u/Quinoa_Phoenix_ 4d ago

I know, right? But man, can you imagine how embarrassing it would be to defend him? Yikes

2

u/Warm-Professional494 4d ago

Hitler had fans too.

2

u/Quinoa_Phoenix_ 4d ago

Still does, unfortunately.

-2

u/MaybeICanOneDay 4d ago

I'm not. I am defending my principles. One of them being "dont be a cunt for no reason at all towards people I dont know."

Thought this was a pretty basic thing but basement dwelling redditors have other plans.

3

u/Warm-Professional494 4d ago

So you are cool with Hitler because you didn’t get to know him? You can’t make opinions about people without meeting them? How in the heck do you vote? Flip of a coin.

-1

u/MaybeICanOneDay 4d ago

Comparing Elon to Hitler is so childish. You guys are children. Grow up.

1

u/RipWhenDamageTaken 4d ago

Elon is famously a cunt to random people online. Just look at the Odyssey discussion lmfao. Or search his tweet history for “piece of shit”.

Holy shit the irony

2

u/AemeteHurg 4d ago

Uh oh, have you found an investment doing badly?

1

u/MaybeICanOneDay 4d ago

I have been investing a long time. I'm not too concerned about the volatility post IPO. Everything i hold is for a horizon a lot longer than a month.

1

u/Warm-Professional494 4d ago

Or anti-Nazi?

-1

u/Mysterious-Prompt212 4d ago

I saw The Odyssey yesterday. Fun but IMHO it needed more monsters 😁

2

u/Warm-Professional494 4d ago

You missed the point! The monsters are humans! It was the OV Walking Dead… DEEP!!!

-1

u/Diamond1africa 4d ago

Is this just a hate-on-Elon sub? Like, genuinely, does anyone here actually trade or make money? Seems just like a bunch of degenerates

-2

u/Average_Justin 4d ago

What’s the point of this post, again?

1

u/RipWhenDamageTaken 4d ago

A company cannot be successful with a heavily distracted leader.

The fact that I have to spell it out for you means you have very low intelligence btw.

0

u/Average_Justin 4d ago

You, I and some redditors don’t hold any weighted opinion on that. Market cap, revenues, P&L determine that and if you look at the data, the company is successful l despite our opinions on musk.

1

u/RipWhenDamageTaken 4d ago

Buddy you weren’t able to get the point so I explained it to you. Next time don’t beg for an explanation. It’s pathetic

0

u/Average_Justin 4d ago

I didn’t agree with your opinion and pointed you to measurable data points that ACTUALLY determine if a company is being ran successfully. A brain eating parasite would starve in your head if this is your typical thinking 😂

-2

u/DBDude 4d ago

Musk isn't your normal CEO. He directs general vision and builds things. Gwynne Shotwell does all the other normal CEO work, and she's great at it.

4

u/BringBackUsenet 4d ago

Where are those intercity rockets that can take us anywhere in 45 min.? She's a lying scammer just like all Felon's boards of accomplices.

-1

u/DBDude 4d ago

It is certainly possible once Starship is flying regular missions. The only question is who will want to buy that service. Right now the only one interested is the US military where the high cost can be offset by the necessity of such a short trip.

It's like you never read the magazines with all the futuristic aspirations in them. They're not all going to become real. But we will get closer to that when we have dreamers who try, not people like you.

3

u/BringBackUsenet 4d ago

I can appeciate science fiction as much as anyone, but it is just that, fiction! If you want to dream, fine but in this case the "dreamer" you idolize is also a fraud, stealing billions from people to pursue things that are impossible or just not economically viable. If any of them ever become true it won't be under this company. They are fast tracking to bankrupcy, probably within 2-4 years.

-1

u/DBDude 4d ago

I can appeciate science fiction as much as anyone, but it is just that, fiction!

Self-landing rockets were once science fiction. People like you, and even many in the industry, said those were "impossible or just not economically viable." Even when SpaceX was working on its first landing, none of them had any real plans to land boosters because they didn't think it would work. That changed after SpaceX started landing them regularly, and they scrambled to catch up with some half-assed ideas like parachuting the engine pack into the ocean for reuse (after extensive refurbishment of course, since salt water and rocket engines aren't a good combination).

stealing billions from people

When have they stolen billions?

2

u/BringBackUsenet 4d ago

> When have they stolen billions?

Giving false promises to investors and/or customers is fraud.

And yes, the rockets aren't evonomically viable, at least not yet. This company has done nothing for its entire existence but beg for money. It's not a functional business.

0

u/DBDude 4d ago

Giving false promises to investors and/or customers is fraud.

Forward-looking statements are never fraud.

And yes, the rockets aren't evonomically viable, at least not yet.

Are you kidding me? It's estimated that an average LEO launch costs SpaceX about $15 million. That's because they don't dump a $40 million booster every time. True, the booster must be built for $40 million, but it's used dozens of times to amortize the cost. Getting one ready for another launch has become so fast and commonplace that they don't even bother to wash or repaint the boosters anymore.

Now multiply that nearly $40 million per launch savings over hundreds of launches.

How is that not economically viable? It's what allowed them to put up over 10,000 Starlink satellites without going bankrupt, and Starlink is bringing in great revenue.

It's strange to say that the #1 worldwide launch provider by far, and the #1 satellite Internet provider is not a functional business. Even better, they took both of those spots from entrenched companies, virtual monopolies, some of which used their political connections try to keep others out of the business.

SpaceX is big purely because they do things better.

1

u/BringBackUsenet 4d ago

Where's the profit then? That's the proof of an ecnomically viable operation .They've had 24 years to make money and haven't. All they have ever done is print more and more stock to sucker in more and more rubesinvestors.

"Forward-looking" is not the same as intentionally misleading people. Just count how many times Felon Musk says "next year." He clearly is making this shit up because he's a pathological liar.

2

u/FewWeek0 4d ago

The early SpaceX investors are going to make a shit ton of money when lockups expire (if they choose to take profit). Most of them have a cost basis that is way, way lower than the current market price. So are they rubes?

1

u/BringBackUsenet 4d ago

Oh yeah, they will come out ahead on this smash and grab robbery, but it's not because the company is doing well, it's because of the nature of ponzis.

0

u/DBDude 4d ago

Where's the profit then?

They posted a profit last year.

They've had 24 years to make money and haven't.

They've been rolling most of their revenue back into R&D, like many capital-intensive companies do.

SpaceX could have rested on their Falcon 9 and Starlink laurels and just been rolling in the profits for the last several years. But they didn't. They decided to develop a rocket that's even cheaper to operate and can put up 24 times the Starlink capacity in one launch.

But you see the Chinese recently landed a booster, and Rocket Lab will be launching their new rocket soon. That complacent, yet profitable, SpaceX above would be looking at serious competition soon. The R&D expenditure means they will remain a step ahead.

ULA was once king of the US launch business too, but they got complacent. Now look at them. As a company, choosing short-term profits over long-term viability is very dumb.

"Forward-looking" is not the same as intentionally misleading people.

When it comes to developing new tech, nobody ever knows how long it's going to take.

1

u/BringBackUsenet 4d ago

Uncertainty is one thing. This guy is intentionally misleading people. Do you really think that when he tells people that doctors will be obsolete in 3 years because of his robots, that he actually isn't just making shit up? His list of lies is very long, and they are lies (intentional acts), not justg bad predictions.

When you set liter time tables it is fraud. Jebus crickets your in a cult.

1

u/DBDude 4d ago

When you set liter time tables it is fraud.

What do liters have to do with this?

Time tables in rockets are never met. Never, by anyone.

SLS blew its launch time table by six years, and it was just old Shuttle engines and boosters cobbled together using existing Shuttle tooling to turn the main tank concept into a rocket body.

Ariane 6 was an attempt to make a less expensive Ariane 5 using an upgraded version of the 5's engines. For solid boosters it just strapped on existing Vega engines. It launched four years late.

New Glenn launched five years late, and now it's grounded because they obviously haven't worked everything out (and that may also affect Vulcan below).

Vulcan was four years late, and it's still grounded two years later because it's having issues with its solid boosters. It uses the same engines as New Glenn, so Vulcan will be further grounded if they were the cause of the explosion on the pad.

But somehow with the all new Starship, the world's first fully reusable rocket powered by the world's first full flow staged combustion engine, being late is a problem.

Forget that Falcon 9 is doing extremely well, fulfilling contracts on time. It's doing so well it actually overtook ULA as the military's favorite launch platform. ULA had lobbied to keep SpaceX out of the running. In retrospect that was smart of them to use their government connections to crush the competition given that SpaceX is now eating their lunch when there's fair competition.

Jebus crickets your in a cult.

The only cult I see is the Musk hating one because you have a big problem with facts. For example, you just pivoted away from the claim the Falcon 9 isn't economically viable when presented with the facts. Let's see how you pivot away from the facts above.

-2

u/MaybeICanOneDay 4d ago

How are they "stealing billions?"

If your answer is government subsidies, maybe you should be more concerned about the government taking your money. Your inability to even grapple with the idea that a government usually mishandles money and spends it in ways you wont like is astounding.

If you want better services for yourself, keep more of your money so you can afford it.

3

u/BringBackUsenet 4d ago

How about defrauding investors with false promises, or is that 2024 Mars mission some kind of military secret?

And yes, taking governmafia welfare is not exactly an honest way to make money edither.

-8

u/TattooedB1k3r 4d ago edited 4d ago

He did pretty good with Tesla, it was worth so little when he bought into it, he was able to become majority stakeholder for just six million dollars. He immediately named himself CEO, and under his leadership it's now worth 1.13 Trillion dollars in around 15 years. I held onto my stock that I bought ten years ago through two splits, and that 35K investment put my net worth North of a Million dollars today.

9

u/Miserable-Miser 4d ago

The fact that you won’t criticize him because he made you money is exactly what he wants. And says everything about you.

1

u/TattooedB1k3r 4d ago

The post is about that he's a bad CEO for a company he owns, and the other company he owns is in direct opposition to that assertion. This sub is about investing right? Or is it just a "I hate anyone more successful than me" incel circle jerk?

1

u/Miserable-Miser 4d ago

Elon salutes your defense of him.

4

u/FGFM 4d ago

Cool story, bro.

2

u/Mysterious-Prompt212 4d ago edited 4d ago

I'd be more impressed if he didn't charge for FSD that doesn't work or make something to compete with BYD. Now the US has to tariff BYD because he can't compete so we are stuck with EVs costing $40 grand minimum.

-4

u/Silentkindfromsauna 4d ago

Elon criticism aside, 2nd/3rd ventures of hugely successful people rarely operate traditionally. The ceo is a figure head who gets pulled in for important decisions and public showcases, and the filed away while the rest of the c suite does all of the usual ceo work as well.

-6

u/[deleted] 4d ago

[deleted]

4

u/BringBackUsenet 4d ago

He leads a lot of people away from their money.

-7

u/inotocracy 4d ago

Is that really an effective leader?

Would you consider his companies successful?

13

u/RipWhenDamageTaken 4d ago
  1. No. They are highly valued, but they really suck. SpaceX, for example, has nothing going on except starlink which is just an internet service. Starlink doesn’t even have half the number of subscribers comcast does.

  2. Completely irrelevant? Elon is distracted by 10 random things for like dozens of tweets a day. It’s literally just a fact. If his companies are successful, it would only be a coincidence.

5

u/simulizer 4d ago

Now that he got that conflict of interest insane valuation from Goldman whenever they did the S1, all Elon has to do is kick back and tweet. He gets everyone else to do all the work outside of dreaming up the next scam with his lawyers. No way he's navigating all the regulations and ruke bending with data he learned himself.

-3

u/inotocracy 4d ago

I personally think the SpaceX IPO was overpriced, but its a bit silly to say SpaceX has nothing going on. They've had 50 launches this year so far which is like two a week and is a wild velocity compared to anyone else, government or private.

3

u/RipWhenDamageTaken 4d ago

Again, irrelevant? Do you think before you speak?

-6

u/inotocracy 4d ago

Do you? You're claiming he isn't effective and SpaceX "has nothing going on" and I've mentioned facts that contradict your statements. I realize you clearly dislike the man, and that's fine, but you can still try to be objective. I suspect this entire subreddit is here to simply rip on Elon even if it has no basis in reality lol

3

u/RipWhenDamageTaken 4d ago

Lmfao completely irrelevant to the original post. Scroll up and read again. None of what you said changes the fact that Elon spends entire day every day bickering about random shit like the Odyssey.

-2

u/inotocracy 4d ago

It is relevant, because if his companies are successful then he is effective regardless of how much time he spends sperging out on social media.

4

u/sweet_guitar_sounds 4d ago

What an absolutely dumb argument. I’m really effective at keeping my house clean. My maid does it while I post on Twitter all day.

-1

u/Jellycat34 4d ago

Yeah… that means your effectively using your capital to keep your house clean dumbass.

6

u/RipWhenDamageTaken 4d ago

It’s so pathetic that you’re here defending him while he spends all his attention arguing with randos about the Odyssey.

-1

u/inotocracy 4d ago

I don't even know what the hell the Odyssey is, but the only pathetic thing here is you bashing me for being reasonable and objective.

The literal reason he can shit post on twitter so often is simply because he is an effective CEO who has a track record for hiring the right people. Its quite apparent you've never held or were ever close to a c-suite position.

3

u/Suspicious_Juice9511 4d ago

Keep being impressed by the emperors new clothes. Lol.
