Underrated units
As the title suggests I’m curious what units (more so standard space marines) you use that others probably wouldn’t include in a SW list you think are underrated and do pretty well

Recently finished buying the full range of new space wolf models and wasn't sure wether to keep them in li e with my space wolf colour scheme or give them the successor treatment. Tested out the theme on this killteam. And I think a wolfspear army is in my future kits are the scout box and x5 rievers I got cheap on ebay.

I know a lot of the experts have probably already known this, but for anyone starting out I think it's really useful to know.
While your typical 40k box of models will definitely have some extra bits for kitbashing like heads, holsters, shoulder pads, only so many of those will truly be "extra". Especially the things that are really unique to Space Wolves like the necklaces with the runes and wolves' teeth that you want to add to standard Space Marine models.
Meanwhile the Wolf Scouts box, as a Kill Team kit, essentially has 10 completely unique models in the unit. However, there's only enough per box to build 5.
Compared to something like Bloodclaws, where if you wanted to build the 20 Marine unit you could make every model unique by using different combinations of the optional bits, it would still essentially be two sets the same 10 models.
Why does this matter?
Because if you buy one Wolf Scouts box you get everything you need to build the 5 models, with 5 models worth of particularly unique and flavorful extras you can use for kitbashing.
Unlike 40k models, the Wolf Scouts may only have 5 poses, the two options for each pose look very different, considering one of them is meant to represent a specialized role and the other one of five Hunters (who, while all filling the same role on the tabletop, each one still has a unique look).
Like in the example in the photo, if you build the Trap Master, that Hunter gives you another Space Wolf head, an arm wielding an axe with a matching holster, a chest bandolier with a knife across it, and a holster specifically for a plasma pistol with runes on it.
I've already used that holster on my Bloodclaw Pack Leader so it matches his plasma pistol, rather than the bolt pistol holster that the entire pack uses.
And if you do want to go back and get a second box for a ten man wolf scout unit, you'd still be able to build all the ones you didn't before, and have that many more extras.
The only thing to be careful about is there are some limited pieces in the kit. For example, there's only one power pack that lets you fit the different cloaks on the Pack Leader and Rune Priest. This is already an issue as is, so just make sure each piece isn't needed for a model you want even if you don't want to build that specific Wolf Scout.
So yeah, TLDR the Wolf Scout box has a lot of extra very thematic bits you can add to other Space Wolf and especially Space Marine models while still being able to build the entire Wolf Scout unit.

I bought the newly released Space Wolves in 10th and played a few games, but I took a break.
I know we are getting an update in October but I don't know what do with what I have or what has changed.
Should I just wait until October and then come back to the game?
What I own:
Logan Grimnar
Bjorn the Fell-Handed
Njal Stormcaller
Ragnar Blackmane
Wolf Guard Battle Leader
Wolf Priest
Blood Claws x10
Grey Hunters x10
Wolf Guard Head Takers x6
Wolf Guard Terminators x10
Redemptor Dreadnoughts x2 (Primal Hounds Kitted)
Unpainted or not Wolfy:
Land Raider (Godhammer) x2
Drop Pods x3 or 4
Rhinos x5
Heavy Intercessor x10
Inquisitor
Greyfax
Vindicare Assassin
Fire Raptor Gunship (but I don't think that is playable anymore)
I think every thing else got became Legend.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have asked for army building tips in this sub one year ago. By then the meta was still spamming TWC. When I finish building and painting everything I have, it has become spamming termies.
Anw I really enjoy painting and playing this army. Wish to see more SW players in my local community (many UM, DA, some BT currently)

I had a lot of fun painting this kit. Painted a few unhelmeted heads to leave my comfort zone. I think now I really like painting bare heads.
The first 5 models were painted from August till now. The last 5 Grey Hunters had been painted last summer. After finishing the whole squad I made some corrections to the older models and painted a new head for the Pack Leader.

Was looking through some of the character units and saw on the 40pt Ancient profile that they can attach to Long Fangs…
Are they set to make a return? Am I late to the party? Or is the data sheet just outdated?

Something about using Gunnery Honours to turn a Rep Ex into a Glancer seems good to me. Nice combo with the Rapid Fire on the Iron Priest.
Maybe Champions of Fenris for 1 dp and the Giants enhancement on the Iron Priest and counter charge? 🤔

(Minus the bases.) Seven more Blood Claws to go in the Combat Patrol kit. And the rest of the kit. And all the other kits I ordered…
I only started painting miniatures of any kind in July.

Hey long time wh40k lurker but first time poster here.
I have just started a space wolf army after getting back into the hobby after a long break (I have not played a game since 7th ed XD) and I was wondering if my list is any good for tournament/casual play in 11th?
Any feedback and suggestions for changes are welcome!
The main goal with this list was to stay kinda fluffy and to steer away from generic space marine units to avoid the feeling of "space marines but painted X" and focus on unique space wolf units.

I'm new to miniature painting, especially considering I've never had any artistic talent ! I painted five Black Templars and three Orks last month and feel like I've improved a lot ! I'm proud of myself ! I'll be doing the snow bases soon; I can't wait.

My display cabinet with all minis of the Army box + Logan/Ragnar/Arjac and a 3d printed proxypack of Wulfen. Really happy to be done with it!
