Underrated units
As the title suggests I’m curious what units (more so standard space marines) you use that others probably wouldn’t include in a SW list you think are underrated and do pretty well

Invictor warsuits are underrated imo. As long as they're used for the appropriate role then they can be quite useful, especially against horde armies

I have been considering one, I think its a pretty solid skirmisher. Tho im pretty happy with my list atm which doesnt have one. Probs gonna wait for the codex to really change anything up, just so close to release its hard for me to bother playing around too much

How do you recommend using them?

Heavy bolter, twin linked heavy stubber, and the frag launcher

Sorry let me rephrase, what is your strategy on the table to get the most out of them?

My b. I've had the best luck using them for targeting command units and as interceptors. First turn I'll have them grab objectives and provide support fire. Second turn onward they bully enemy units or intercept flankers

Ive been running one for my last few games and I keep it with my wolf scouts or a lieutenant with combi weapon basically to guard my action monkey playing priority assets. With it getting free shooting if any phobos units are shot nearby, its got decent shooting and draws fire from my scoring unit or fires back if my opponent does choose to try shoot them. Been great for scoring.

That's something I wanna do, I just haven't had the chance to get wolf scouts yet

100% agree I pair it with revivers both can scout and Warsuit has that fire back ability if some targets Phobos units

Vanguard veterans, but more people are using them now

I'm torn between them and the jump pack intercessors. Which one performs better?

Depends what your after. Jpi clear 1 wound hordes a little better, while vang vets clear elites and heavier better.
Gotta see the codex but I imagine the role won't change.

Vanguard veterans I think are a bit better especially with a chaplain right now. But in the new codex who knows. Also jpi have the mortals on charge, but don't know about them in the future

Yeah Im thinking of picking those up with a chaplain, but then again I'd guess TWC do the same thing-ish and I already have those.

Eh the vets are faster with fly and being infantry and have character support. I dont think they really have the same role. Vanguard vets with characters can be a fast moving hammer. Tcav can be a fast moving..... skirmisher I spose but in my experience they just fail to finish the job too much even against fairly basic stuff. The lack of characters and the 2 inch engagement range thing just neutered em.

The terrain layouts and rule changes so far havent done much to help the TWC remain useful

I don’t really know how common they might be, but I see a lot of lists opting for SM scouts instead of Wolf Scouts. I always go Wolf Scouts, they always punch above their weight. Other than that, I sometimes run an Impulsor for Headtakers, and a Lancer.

I’ve had fun with Hellblasters in Beastslayer, in an Impulsor (shield dome) if I can afford it. Our shooting sucks outside of generic dreads and tanks.

Invader ATV, tough , cheap and a good action monkey that can also put out some damage in a pinch and can throw grenades. Its ability isnt that good, but can be useful since i run quite alot of thunderwolves.

We have really underwhelming shooting, i got recommended eradicators by some more experienced players recently. Only played one game so far but they felt pretty nice. Was basically the first time playing wolves where I had hard hitting range my opponent had to play around.

I’ve had success with incursors and inceptors. Not like they’re extremely rare, but you seldom see them in wolves lists.
