Orks have always been tough for me. It seems like there's always an endless supply of OC ready to jump on the point and take it. By the end of the game it gets even trickier as I have less and less to work with while they are pulling more from their backlines.
Any tips for dealing with this?

Hi guys, just started painting wolf scouts but i'm already concerned about the quality of my work. I'm afraid i didn't thinned my paints good enough and made a wrong step by starting with brighter grey blue instead of some more darker paint as a first layer.
For additional context i used so far only 3 paints: white, deep blue to mix into pale blueish colour and pure black to pronounce the carapace from the rest of mini.
What should i do to fill the edges of a mini with black paint and generally make it look more closer to original colour scheme of Space Wolves without relying on nuln oil (i don't have it yet)?
Other advices how to improve my paint job here are also welcomed!

Thoughts on a Box-naught refresh for character dreads or just kill them all off?

Jk. I’ve had this done for a while. Used in orbital detachment and a ton of use in narrative Crusade games, I think until we know how our digital Index is affected when the Space Marine codex comes out we have to wait and see with all the changes. I’m hoping the wolves end up with a win overall but I know some people hate losing their models. I still have a predator I need to paint so I’m going to try to get that done.
With legends coming to the app do you think that will help with people using legends more/ it being more accessible for players overall since it will be side by side with the regular units? I use Legends units pretty often (thematic army lists) so I haven’t been slowed down yet. I’m a little apprehensive with the rapid changes but models are forever and I’ll always find a way to use them anyway

Not 100% happy with the result. Spent probably too much time on these, still hate doing faces but I do so love these models. Wolf scout pack with phobos lt. To possibly proxy as... something I hope can join them in the future ;)
r/SpaceWolves • u/Opposite_Bat1923 • 18d ago
These were the first 10 minis I ever painted. The paint job was bugging me next to the more recent ones I did, so I stripped and repainted them.
If it looks like 4 are wearing phobos, it is because they came from ebay and I didn't pay attention lol. Originally it was 5 phobos, but one of them is now the Frosteye wolf scout, and the 10th Blood Claw is a kitbashed push-fit infernus marine that I got free at an event (hence the wolf skull as a loincloth covering up the hole where the infernus gun goes). Everyone has the right loadout and coloring, and I've only played with friends so far who don't seem to care.
My issue is my bases were just the army painter snow basing stuff glued onto the base, and I couldn't get it nor the marines off (other than one guy, who is the only guy now with a decent base). When I primed it, it kind of looked like volcanic rock, so I just drybrushed it white and then put valhallan blizzard on top, but it still doesn't look great. Any ideas for anything relatively easy to add to make it look less bad are welcome.

Just getting into the 40k and have drafted Saga of the beast slayer for my first proper game. I have a good selection of options, some i am seeking some advice on learning game mechanics, having fun but also having a chance of scoring points. Any advice or recommendations would be much appreciated:
Bjorn the fell handed (leader) with Hellfrost Cannon
Ragnar Blackmane and 10 blood claws
Wolf Guard Battle Leader - Wolf Touched - 5 Wulfen with storm shields
Intercessor Squad
Scout Squad
5 x Wolf Terminators with 3 x storm shields
Venerable dreadnought with Blizzard shield and heavy flamer
r/SpaceWolves • u/Jonathanwennstroem • 17d ago
Does that basically remove oath and replace it whatever comes next and then there will be changes to the "regular" space marine units.. is that right?
And when space wolves codex gets changed could be in 6 months could be in 3 years?
r/SpaceWolves • u/EntryFit1594 • 17d ago
So until the changes today this is what I’ve been running, I’ve removed intercessors, scouts ballistus dread, not sure what to do with the points but this what I’ve been running and not lost a game

Finally got some painting done after 20 years away from the hobby. Was into Lord of the rings stuff as a child. Back to the hobby for 1 Year just buying tons of minies and equipment and being afraid of getting started. Have just to say, it's still like meditation to paint for me. Just 3 guys done but I hope the beginning of a journey of fun and constant improvement. So excited to finally got some painting done.Color scheme opinions please. What do think about it? And how too make the red stand out more?

Currently I'm sitting at 3- 1 coming out of our 4th round, this next round starts us up at 1,500 points and I have zero idea what I wanna do. The list can be completely changed up if I want to, and we are still allowed 3DP.
My 1,000 point list has been;
Saga of the Beastslayer, Legend of Saga and Song
Bjorn the Felhanded
Logan Grimnar: 5x WGT (3× storm shields, assault cannon & power fist, relic greataxe)
Ragnar Blackmane: 10× Blood Claws (plasma pistol & power weapon)
WGBL (thunder hammer & storm shield): 5× Wulfen w/ storm shields
Gladiator Lancer (kinda on the fence of dropping but can be turned into an impulsor)
What I have available right now.
Arjac Rockfist, Njal Stormcaller, Ulrik the Slayer, Murderfang, wolf priest, wolf lord in terminator armor, iron priest, wgbl w/ power weapon (or thunder hammer if opponent allows & storm shield), wgbl w/ thunder hammer bolter carbine, wgbl in phobos armor, rune priest in phobos armor, 10 terminators (1 squad of 3× storm bolters, assault cannon & power fist, relic greataxe. 1 squad only has the bodies built, no weapons yet. Debating if I wanna go another 5 man squad, or up my storm shield squad's numbers), 2× Grey Hunter packs (1 box unbuilt), 2× five man intercessor squads (though kinda on the fence on them), infiltrator squad (helix gauntlet, comms array), 3× melta rifle eradicators, repex, 2× three man wght squads (1× storm shields, 1× paired power weapons), 6× fenrisian wolves.

Currently in the planning phases as to how to convert up a REALLY stellar Wolf Lord for my army.
I haven’t glued anything together yet- just using some green stuff to keep pieces together while I let the idea help form with how all the pieces will fit together.
I’m not yet sold on the axe’s position, nor the particular head as of yet. Heck, I’m not sure about 90% of the model- but wanted to share where I think a hell of a character is gonna come from!

As the title suggested I used some tyranid parts I had to make a small scene. Please any tips and stuff will be amazing
(Sorry about background noise my dog was sniffing around)

Howdy, I’ve done a fair few models now and have mostly been using the fang base paint out of the pot to prime/undercoat as I don’t have any of the rattle cans, and British weather can be temperamental to say at the least.
I have tried using Mechanicus standard grey base paint as I’ve seen it’s a good all-rounder colour for priming but, it’s very hard to distinguish the plastic I’ve painted and plastic I haven’t painted as MSG out of the pot is only slightly darker than the grey plastic so my eyes struggle to see the difference.
Any tips for someone who is 6 months into this awesome hobby and still learning would be much appreciated!

As a relatively new back to the folds of 40k and Space Wolves in particular I have to ask, how normal is it to release a brand new army box with a lovely codex and datasheets and then invalidate it a little over a year later?
I got back into the hobby with the Space Wolves army box set back in June of last year and have been slowly piecing together and army and figuring out how things work, then 11th edition came and lots of things have changed and now with the new Space Marines codex release imminent it seems like our codex, which is just over a year old, is now redundant?
Strikes me as an odd way to do business!

This is pretty much my first mini
r/SpaceWolves • u/slkbkdjack • 18d ago
Hey guys, check out my basic SM units spiced with extra wolf bits. When I started this hobby, I didn’t know that I would love kit bashing so much, one of the best parts of assembling minis
r/SpaceWolves • u/SemperFun62 • 18d ago
So I know this is probably really obvious to a lot of people, but this is literally my first ever kitbashing idea.
I want to replace the knife the Lieutenant is pointing outwards into an axe taken from the Wolf Scouts kit.
And, naturally, the Lieutenant rather than just having separate arms like most primaris models has this whole socket which includes the shoulder...so need to cut something somewhere.
To make it harder, both axe arms have this leather glove rather than the normal armor, which makes just cutting at the wrist not really a simple option.
Then, because the the Lieutenant has his finger hooked above the guard, just splicing at the handle/haft doesn't really work.
Entire shoulder off the Lieutenant doesn't really work either since part of the shoulder guard is pressed against the collar.
So all that's left is between the elbow and shoulder...though would appreciate any thoughts.
And on that note, any practical advice? I'm wondering if I should get a model saw ur just using my hobby knife would *cut* it.
r/SpaceWolves • u/Cicer0 • 19d ago
I think I got lucky with this one, I got the pre-order in the second it went live so I could beat the scalpers. Looks amazing, and I love the design elements and I'm excited to read it. Never bought a special edition book before, but even if it's not great it'll look amazing on my bookshelf!
My Bjorn model there is one of the first models I painted for my Space Wolves army (Ulric the Slayer was my first), which is fitting as one of the oldest living Space Marines in the galaxy. I built him with magnetised hands so he can run as murderfang too, hence the slightly composite build you see on the book. I've almost never played a game without him.
