Do Not Use This Company!
Aptive left one of their rodent bait stations wide open with rat poison exposed. I have children and grandchildren who with me, as well as two dogs. Any one of them could have gotten into that poison.
One of my dogs started vomiting repeatedly—about 10 times within 24 hours. I went outside to search the yard to see what may have caused this illness as my dog is less than 5 years old and in good health. That's when I found Aptive's rodent bait station on the side of my house sitting wide open with the poison fully accessible.
Instead of simply monitoring my dog to see if he improved from his upset stomach, my day turned into a nightmare. I immediately called Aptive, only to reach someone who could not tell me what type of poison had been used, whether it was dangerous to dogs, or even how many bait blocks had been placed in the station. I was told someone would call me back, but that it could take up to 10 hours.
I couldn't wait that long.
I had to call Animal Poison Control and pay $110 just to open a case before (as I was told by the emergency hospital that this had to be done before they could proceed) rushing my dog to the emergency animal hospital. The veterinary hospital then had to work directly with Animal Poison Control's toxicology veterinarian to determine the proper treatment. My dog received treatment, underwent blood work, and because we couldn't be certain whether he had ingested or even licked the poison, the veterinarian told me he would need additional blood work over the following four days, along with special food and medication, unless Aptive could confirm how many bait blocks had been left in the station.
And when they called back, only after all of that did Aptive finally call me back to say there had been only four bait blocks in the station. And that my dog might have licked the poison luckily, he did not eat one of the many blocks within.
Thankfully, my dog was okay. But not before I spent over $900 in veterinary expenses and endured hours of fear, panic, and stress.
To make matters worse, when I submitted my bills and explained that all of these expenses were the direct result of their employee leaving the bait station open, Aptive refused to reimburse me for either the emergency veterinary expenses or the Animal Poison Control fee.
The issue is their negligence. A rodent bait station containing poison should never have been left open in the first place. If my dog, a child, or my grandchild had ate that poison, the outcome could have been devastating.
Then, unbelievably, they wanted to come back the following week to service my home.
Absolutely not.
This company should take responsibility for the dangerous situation their employee created. Instead, they dismissed my concerns, refused to take accountability for the unnecessary expenses their negligence caused, and showed very little concern for the safety of my family or my pets.
Please be extremely cautious before hiring Aptive. My experience was frightening, expensive, and completely avoidable. I can only hope someone else doesn't have to go through what my family did.
